Now that casters are starting to come back into fashion :D I stole this idea from some dude (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=299156) at least his kick-ass idea #1 ...

Turning on and off metamagic is such a pain when there are some spells you want maximized, or whatever and some you do not. As mentioned in that suggestion above options could be added to each spell by right clicking the spell and have all your metamagics pop up with a checkbox next to them. All checked yes by default, and you should still be able to turn the metamagics on and off as before, just they wouldn't affect the spell that has that specific metamagic 'unchecked'. Seems like a great idea as well as pretty straightforward to me.

I think that no cooldown and activating time would help a bit to metas, and is quite easy to implement.
Sure it would not be perfect, but as 1st step it would be enough.

or a similar but slightly different Idea: you can use weapon quick slots for combining spells and metamagics then pull those to your bar just like weapon sets.
