What I am looking for:

1) Survivability - AC/HP/saves/healing amp
2) Solid stun DCs
3) DPS - this is after everything else obviously

What I am currently planning, this is for a pure monk, but I wonder if an 18/2 split can do what I want better:

L20 Monk + Monk capstone is way to good to splash 2 fighter levels.

A few things to consider given your priorities.

Dwarf or Warforged can add up to +3 to your DC's (though WF ends up being +2 overall due to lower starting wisdom). As high healing amp is a priority, this probably isn't the route for you.

Half-Elf gets almost as much healing amp as a full human and could do multiple nifty things with the dilettante feat such as starting with cleric for easy self heals, then swapping into rogue or fighter for more sneak attack damage or extra stun DC. (you'd have to make room for stunning blow to take advantage of the fighter dilly stun enhancements)

An 18/2 fighter/monk split would have significantly higher stun dc's (as of this wednesday), higher hp, more feats and much higher damage via Kensai bonuses than a light monk equivalent 18/2 monk/fighter split though you do lose a lot of the monk flavor.

The 18/2 split for fighter is a representation of most things I don't like in DDO. I just can't bear to play a "monk" that doesn't even have enough levels to pick a path.
The Dill is great on paper, and I tried to make it work. Fitting in SB was something that just baffled me. If someone knows how, I'm all ears.

On your first point I agree with you completely. I hate that the 18/2 fighter monk will be so much better than a pure monk in so many areas when U9 hits. The bonuses to stunning that they can gain over a pure monk is just plain silly. 10 base +10 levels +10 wraps +4 fighter enhancement +3 kensai = 37 without factoring any wisdom at all!

The Abuser build comes to mind when people mention going mainly fighter. I respect the build, it will work very well, I don't respect the change that allows it to be in place.
