I have been trying to figure out how I want to TR my monk into a halfling for my next life. I looked at the quad H build, the abuser build - though it didn't make sense as I WILL be a halfling, and couldn't really find another build that I liked.

I want to be able to survive in a fight. Not just survive, laugh at the monsters puny attempts. Humiliation crossing a stunned, or helpless as it may be in U9, trolls face as a midget flies through the air at his shin is my goal. Thus I will need HP, AC, and some form of DPS. I know that I can not have every one of these be amazing, but I want to get AC that will be ok, maybe not in elites or epics but good for everything else, HP that will make it so I don't drop in a second, most of this will be based of gear so I'm not as concerned with this aspect, and DPS that will let me kill stuff. I don't need the DPS to end the lives of millions of kobolds every time I swing, but eventually killing a monster should be possible. Then there are the stuns. I will have a high Wis and can get stunners. If this isn't working, well that sucks.

A few things that I've decided:
1) I do not want to waste my life farming for a set of silver wraps so I can craft them into awesome BBs so I am planning on at least 18 levels of monk to get the DR.
2) I will be a halfling.
3) I like the idea of getting enough monk levels to use quivering palm.

With those in mind, would it be worth it to pick up 2 levels of something else? I will be a shintoa if that wasn't evident in the DR penetration from level 18, Shintoa III.

Are my enhancements stupid? Stats idiotic? Why do I have no gear? Are halflings really that amazing? Yes.

I do have some gear. Working to get those damn boots for ToD. Looking to finish Shintoa set, have most stats set, in terms of gear, wearing robes of equilibrium until I finish DT and bother getting a Minos for heavy fort, working on a GS HP item that will then make that Minos stupid - once I socket the epic buc ring with toughness, have those epic gloves of more unarmed damage, and that's about it. Oh, bracers of the monk stance for 25% healing amp.

I looked up a thread earlier that I really liked so gear it not such an issue. That is to say that I know what I will be working towards now.

Have at it ye wolves, my bland monk build will toss you aside or die.

Void Strike IV is one of the strongest moves you can grab up as a monk.
redo your enhancements to get it is my advice.

nat 20 vorpal on ANYTHING

oozes, undeads... epics.... ANYTHING :D

plus its a nice 20 damage force button spammer.
but only reset enhancements and get it when you can get the 4th or 3rd, the first two arent that great.

Update 9, and no Auto-Crit...

Will be difficult I think to keep enough Ki around to stay on timer for everything especially as a dex based halfling monk, so I would suggest avoiding Void III and Void IV, just because it's a huge ap investment, and takes quite a bit of Ki to enjoy the use.. must keep it on timer to enjoy the benefits.

Crane path + oremi's neck + capstone and you have no problems with ki generation...

i think void line is also lowered in ki cost to 5 like the outhers i think

I want to be able to survive in a fight. Not just survive, laugh at the monsters puny attempts.

Do you want to survive every fight, or do you want to survive a fight? the former is impossible. The latter is trivial.

Pretty good build, but i would drop the extra stances that you have to T3, i realise that you want the healing amp from the Bracers, but its just not practical while trying to maintain a AC build.
As its a AC build your looking for. i decided to do a rework for your opinion, also this build will provide one of the highest stunning fist DC you can get while still being a halfing.

Selfed buffed ac

3Barkskinpot
5CE
2Dodge*choasguard or Marbar cloak*

Then you get an extra 5-15ish from raid buffs.

From personal experiance, this is enough to tank suul on norm/hard in Vod and norm in ToD, be able to walk though amarth quests on normal with barely a scratch, and even elite vale quests will pale at the thought of you.
Add +3 if you decided to get Yug pots before you tr

I put my levelups into Wis, for the extra stunning fist DC, if you want a higher to hit though you might want to put 4 into Dex and keep the last one in wis, if your comfortable with loseing 2DC. leaving you with about a 40SF

The hp will be around 400, up to 500 depending on your gear.

The str will be at 22, and with the appropriate handwraps, this build can push out some dmg, espically when your behind the mob reciving the full benifit of your halfling sneak attack.
youll also be able to recive the full benifit on anything you stun.
enjoy.

The dex is on a odd number due to you haveing the epic ring, so itll even out

Also, you can swap when you take PA and CE if you want more AC earlier.

Oh, and yes, once your anything above 15monk, takeing any other classes is jsut gimping yourself

Am I 3times tr gimp, or only I need about 36 dex to hit mobs without problems (and i'm thinking about Malicia in Big Top... )?

And if you are counting self-buffed ac, why won't you count yuguloth pots? At least Wisdom one looks like "must have".

Essence of Betrayal
+2 stacking Dexterity (+1 ac!)
+6 Sneak Attack to hit (+4 after penalty)
-2 to Hit

Essence of Desire (if you need hp)
+2 stacking Constitution
+20 stacking HP (total +40 with con bracket)
-5% melee speed

Essence of Despair
+2 stacking Wisdom (+1 ac!)
+4 Natural armor (yay! that's better than barkskin pot!)
-4 Reflex save

Essence of Fury (Just +1 damage, not essential)
+2 stacking Strength
+8 Will save against Fear (+4 after penalty)
-4 Will save

@Deathlos

I don't need to tank any raid boss, and I don't see how I would get aggro with this build to do so. I was only concerned with enough AC for trash and what not. Sorry, I wrote this up last night around 2AM and made it seem like I wanted a god AC build.

My two concerns are that I don't want to bother with CE or Finesse if I can help it. It is just my opinion that Finesse on anyone that aspires to deal damage is a pipe dream. CE is, once more just my opinion, not worth the point investment into int or the lack of +hit/+dmg, without a mode on or with PA.

@ Void strike

How do you get that AP line fit in to anything? Been trying for a bit now and always end up short of capstone or Shintoa III.
