The Lamannia game downloader, installer, and launcher have been updated to support English, French, and German. Once this new multi-language client is installed, you will be able to select the language you would like see text in game displayed in by simply selecting the language on the game launcher!

To try out this new client, and the game downloader and installer, click on the following link (http://content.turbine.com/sites/clientdl/ddo/beta/ddohigh.exe) or browse to the url 'http://content.turbine.com/sites/clientdl/ddo/beta/ddohigh.exe'. Installing this new Lamannia client will not effect your Live DDO client.

We are looking for your feedback on the experience of using these new multilingual components. Please take some time to look into these contests (Multilingual Installer (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=304824) or Say What? (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=304837)) that we are running over the weekend of March 4th to the 6th for the opportunity to win up to 1,500 Turbine Points for use on the Live servers!

We have also opened two new forums for discussion about the client, downloader, and installer. While we encourage you to give feedback in English, feel free to give it in French (http://forums.ddo.com/forumdisplay.php?f=238) or German (http://forums.ddo.com/forumdisplay.php?f=66).

Only the launcher/installer and game will have been made multilingual. This means that the following items only appear in English:

Launcher RSS Feeds
Store UI and Store Catalog
Customer Support
Billing

There are two know issues with the game launcher:

“SELECT WORLD TO PLAY” is always in English if a user clicks in an empty area of the World Select control.
In the launcher, while waiting for the game to load the queue message will always be in English: “Subscribers get VIP queue access above all other players. To become a Subscriber, visit http://myaccount.turbine.com”.

Enjoy!

is it possible to give us the size of the download ?

Some players like myself have limited bandwidth usage, would hate to download this to preview, test and evaluate, then cannot download the live version :(:o:eek:

Still Thumbs up on the Multi-language client :)

Well, just updating the existing client, the download was fairly small. Just some new launcher files, and a language specific .dat if you change the language. So only a 100 MB or so if you're just downloading the language files.

Of course downloading the full client is nearly 9 GB.

It looks like the French language is working pretty well. I'm nowhere near proficient, but what I could translate looked correct. :)

It is true that if you have an existing Lamannia client on your PC you can simply launch the client, wait for a small number of files to download, and then restart the launcher to be able to start the game in any of the supported languages. (Look in the upper right hand corner of the launcher and you will see a drop down defaulted to 'EN'; click there to see your language options). Doing this will let you participate in the "Say What?" contest (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=304837).

We are looking for feedback on the downloader and installer in addition to the launcher and the in-game experience. In order to give us the full set of feedback, and qualify for the 1,500 Turbine Point give away (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=304824), you will need to run the downloader using the link provided (http://content.turbine.com/sites/clientdl/ddo/beta/ddohigh.exe) either above or in my signature line. This download is approximately 5.2GB.

You will need about 5 GB ... and some time ...

PS: I already bug reported some translation issues in the installer as nobody will know what the heck is 'Verlies und Drachen' :p

Ouch that would take me 3 months, I'm good for about 4Gig of extra down loading every 30 days. Glad it's just an update to the existing Client, . . That I can handle ;);)

thanks, yes I already have the Lamannia Client, so if it is just a Updating thing no problems here.
I'll go start it now, just to see, but will play later, (bad time of the day to play)

So will it just be the text in another language ? or does that include the DM narration ?

I was going to try and see in Fr, but I saw that the client was updating again, stopped it because hearing or reading in a language I do not read or write and speak was not that important for me.

I guess if one is to swap between language, it will update for that Language? doesn't look like it's just a click of a button to go from one to the other, without the updating wait (which really was not that long for me)

I know probably don't have all that much players from Poland, as you have from German or French but if you need any help with Polish translation. If you will plan on doing Polish client that is. Just let me know :). I would love to help.
