View Full Version : Mechanic III Suggestion: craft +5 bolts

MechI and MechII prestige enhancements grant plus to some rogue skills, and proficiency in repeating xbows, and adding Int mod to dmg rolls. So maybe Mech III can grant, among other things, the ability to craft 100% returning, +5 bolts? That seems to be the flavor of the prestige, no? Since rogues have no sp, it'll probably need some ingredients to craft. And if we go with that train of thought, maybe be able to craft more damaging bolts as well? Similar to how trap making works, you can get some regular bolts, some lvl 1 scrolls of the same elemental type (like acid spray for +1d6 acid, burning hand for +1d6 fire), but not to go so far as using soul gems. Being able to turn any xbows into +5 xbows is pretty awesome in itself, the alternative of crafting other bolts would be cool too. What do people think?

I'd just like them to be able to use trap parts to make bolts like they can flask. Just make them require some bolts or arrows either masterwork, +1, or highter.

+5 bolts 100% returning?

Maybe 75% returning for some of them like the House D vendor offers.

Meh. By level 20 you’ll either have a greensteel crossbow or have moved onto assassin.

I think a better alternative would be to let mechanics strap trap kits to their current ammo.

mechanics should get an imbue line that consumes ingredients instead of sp and it should be 100% returning but disappear at the end of the instance

so mech trap parts would be 100% retuning bolt
mech + fire trap 100% returning fire bolt etc etc etc

then if you want true specialty bolts that are combos

mech + fire + acid = dot acid bolt
mech + fire + cold = (trivial damage) aoe cold damage bolt
mech + sonic + force = sonic damage + slowburst bolt?

just some suggestions, the combos could each cost enhancement points so you need the fire bolt and the acid bolt to make the acid dot bolt

they dont have to be much damage, just add more variety and flavor

also allow wrack and smite to work with ranged!
