View Full Version : Adjust Buff Bar, please?

When I am playing DDO, there is enough room for 28 buff timers to be displayed across the top of my monitor. Currently there are 14 buffs on my guildship that I find worth using. That leaves 14 slots that are easily filled by regular buffs.

Normally, I never cared about seeing what buffs were overall displayed, as long as I have the proper situational buffs. The more, the merrier. In fact before guild buffs came along it was always amusing to see the bar so full it fell off the end of the screen.

My problem stems from this: I am now playing a DPS Paladin. (I know, total gimp sauce!) Whenever I'm using my short term damage boosting buffs (Zeal, Divine Might) they are almost always past the point of no return for timer displays. Basically, I never know when they run out and am always either rebuffing far to frequently or completely forgetting about them.

Possible solutions:

Continue the buffs onto a second row once the first row is exceeded. Now, this is probably a poor choice because most of us won't want the buff displays to begin to overtake our entire screen.

The solution that I personally would like to see: Reorder the buff display based on time remaining, the shortest timer remaining on the right, the longest ones shoved off the edge of the screen on the left. Great! Now I know that it's time to recast my one minute Divine Might, and still don't worry about the fact that I have 45 minutes left on my 14 guild buffs!

So, in closing...

... Please? ^_^

Actually I like the re-ordering of buffs with the timers going from lowest on the right to longest on the far left.

And I do agree with what you're saying. I have a WF barb that has the same problem.

Or, give us the option. You know a check box....2 line buff or buffs based on time remaining.

I was thinking the same thing that with these new boat buffs something has to be done with the buff bar.

My thoughts were either a scrollable line that if you clicked and held it you could scroll it left to right. Another thought was to have buffs fill in spots on some type of second set of 'hotkey' bars, ie something that you could cycle through.

The suggestion of having a shortest to longest timer ordering seems to be to me the most ready fix as I'm usually concerned about knowing if I have on my divine power or ardor on and other short-term buffs that will invariably be pushed off-screen as they get put up regularly after all the other buffs. The solution will still leave me in the position of wondering if I missed the cast of say the extended death ward, but any solution is better than no solution.

If they fixed the detailed character info popup (z key shortcut) to be scrollable, that would also mitigate this problem. Different options for sort order would be icing on the cake... scratch that, it would be a festivus miracle.
