View Full Version : Ninja Spy 12/Kensei 6/Paladin 2 - Would it work?

I looked at Half-Elf Dilettantes, and noticed that the Rogue Dilettante can stack with Ninja Spy, while Kensei gives a boost to a Monk's ki generation. Since I wanted Touch of Death, that ruled out a Fighter 12/Monk 8 split, pushing me towards a Monk 12/whatever build. I added Paladin 2 solely for the saves.

I'm still on my first character and as such don't have anything in the way of tomes or equipment. As such, this build is incredibly unoptimized. That said, I'd still like some feedback on whether this build is even viable and, if so, how it would stack up in a raid.

Spring Attack was included to help chase after enemies that constantly move (and to give enemies chasing me a to-hit penalty). Sap was included as an extra tactic, which I've heard people say is useful in crowd control. This character would use handwraps as its main weapon, switching to shortswords for DR breaking and such. Eventually, this character would get 6d6 Sneak Attack, along with +4 ki generation on criticals.

Any comments would be appreciated.

I have a 12monk/6ranger/2paladin in the works to level 17 so far. I'll let you know that you don't need the extra Ki generation as long as you just keep on hitting or are in fire stance. However the extra damage might be nice.

I recommend dropping INT, as you shouldn't be skill point starved and if you really do need some extra, just eat a +2 int tome at level 7. Also drop charisma, as you're lay on hands and smite are going to be pitiful, but not completely useless. I'd recommend a 12 Charisma if anything so you can easily reach +5 to your saves. You also do not need 16 base dex, because you're not going to get grandmaster of wind with only 12 levels monk. I'd recommend putting that to 15 and just eating a +2 tome at level 7.
