Suggesting: add the skill knowledge. If your rank is >= an explorers lowest level then your map updates with explorer areas.

Maybe the map does not grey back in ever, same DC?

An interesting way to implement it, for sure. However since many players (especially more experienced ones) are quite familiar with some explorer areas, and with the availability of maps on the DDO Wiki, it just seems like it would probably end up being a skill that's completely overlooked and ignored anyway.

Also, there are multiple branches of the Knowledge Skill (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/skills/knowledge.htm) so, I suppose if the devs were ambitious about it they could translate the Knowledge: Geography into this skill?

True, but the same can be said in general about Spot. Knowledge would def be a nitch thing, but I think it would be useful.

It could be boosted with the following additional feature

Know Enemy
DC: Enemy CR+10(?)
If successful, when you hit the inspect button on the enemy portrait it displays their Alignment

Know Enemy Weakness
DC: Enemy CR + Enemy Wis Mod +10 (just as an example)
Same as above, but displays vulnerabilities as well

Thoughts?

Hm... Anyone else thinking of the Archivist (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20051007a&page=3) class from Heroes of Horror?

/not signed, we don't need more skills, but

Incursion: Halls of the Goblin King had a pretty good implementation of Knowledge, giving various effect. One of the effects was that it functioned as a weaker version of a Ranger's favored enemy, giving bonuses to attacks and spell DCs vs the known enemy class.

Naw, don't use Skill: Knowlege.

Turn it into a hoby/crafting.

Put such in as another time/plat sink as "knowledge" is so vast, people can learn to say.. create arrows, craft potions, get synergy bonus, stronger DCs with spells, better the chance to stabalize, etc.
