I would love it if we were able to share plat between characters without having to go thru the mail system or finding a third party to play the trade game with.

Put a plat line in the shared bank account just like you have on your character sheet, one without a 4 digit limitation. This would allow for the transfer of larger amounts of plat between toons. By doing this, it eliminates the need to send multiple 9,999 pp posts to your other toons when you are ready to re-gear them.

I know its easy enough to have the toon with the pp buy the items then drop them in the sba, but when you have multiple toons, it can be difficult to keep track of the gear/weapons your alts can and cant use. It would make life that much easier.

I'd be all for this...it drives me nuts when I want to get a bunch of items for an alt, switch to one of my "bankroll" toons, and then return to the original, only to find that I needed that +5 STR on anything BUT the belt that I got it on, or I'll lose my disease immunity /IFL belt...grrr

And it's just annoying sending plat in 9999pp segments.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I remember somebody saying that they enforced those limits to discourage plat farmers/sellers, but if something was done through a shared bank slot, it would only make it easier within the same account, and it would only be available for VIP or those with enough TP for a shared bank slot. I like it.

/signed as well. I like the idea of being able to move plat through the shared bank.

/agreed. Why is it exactly that we can't actually use the bank to store money again?

Agree!!

The "bank" is ironically named considering money is the only thing you can't store there!

Never understood why you cannot share plat between toons...

Annoying to buy a RR item on a high umd toon and then realize you can't use it on your lowbie

I always just fill up each denomination with 9999 (wich is just under 11K Plat).
Cost 1 copper to send or silver i forget. Yes its gets bad when sending a very large amount.

Maybe they can take a page from UO....they had a fix with a bank check...you could buy a check for X plat and then could send/trade/sell/AH/throw away....but when cashed at a bank it gave the amount of gold...er plat.

This way they dont have to add the mechanic of actual plat as an item. This may have to do with preventing dupes and other such bugs. Dunno. But lots of options.

Ive always considered it Turbines way of discouraging Twinking a toon. :)

This solution would also rise plat cap!

Given the gear sets that have come available in the newer content, i dont think Turbine is actively trying to discourage twinking.

We all have to send the pp/gp/sp/cp in amounts of 9999/9999/9999/9999. Its the only way to do it.

I am not a programmer, nor do I play one on tv. But the code for the coin bank and the link to the account already exists in the character sheet. Could it be transferred/added to the shared bank account without much of a hassle? If anybody has knowledge in these areas, an informed opinion would be greatly appreciated.

The idea of the chit is good. its a workable solution to the problem as well. Either or would be a good solution.

Or how about make gems actually useful? Fixed values for gems, along with gem vendors/traders. Gems can be stored in the bank and some can be worth multiple thousands of plat each.

Purchasing/trading with the vendors would include a nominal fee for the conversion which would also create another plat sink in the game.

Somehow, I suspect this has been suggested before...

I just heard a rumor that kunderak is having financial problems. They may be looking into a bailout. Would suck if all of a sudden they started charging US interest to hold our coins!

This has been my thought too. I remember playing games at some point in my past where gems were used to replace large amounts of currency. This was due to the fact that coins had weight, but it could be used to negate the limit on the cash amount you can have/trade.

The idea of being able to transfer coins via the shared bank sounds like a good idea to me, however, the mailing of coins back and forth between characters is definitely a coin-sink (even though it's essentially negligible, it *is* a coin-sink).

With the way this game throws coins and loot at you, I highly doubt that Turbine will be removing any coin-sinks any time soon...if ever.

...but it would be nice to not have to mail coins to-and-fro.

I also highly doubt that Turbine will be raising the coin-cap-per-character.

The coin cap is limited to exactly 4,294,967 pp 295 cp (the limit of a 32-bit unsigned integer in cp).

4,294,967,295 copper pieces is currently the limit.

If Turbine changes the type of integer they use, to a 64-bit signed integer, the limit would then (presumably) become 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 copper pieces. Even if they set the limit at half that, it would be 4,611,686,018,427,387,903.5 copper pieces.

If Turbine changes the type of integer they use, to a 64-bit unsigned integer, the limit would then (presumably) become 18,446,744,073,709,551,615 copper pieces. If they set the limit to half that, it would be 9,223,372,036,854,775,807.5 copper pieces, which would essentially be the same amount as the signed integer.

Programming considerations would certainly have to be made if such a change were implemented. Though they're "only numbers," there's only so many tricks you can get a computer (or server, for that matter) to do per second. Consider how many tricks that would require, to be processing, storing, sending, and receiving what is "only numbers," when there's more than just one person logged on to each server.

For an example of how it stands now, let's assume that a player has 10 character slots on a server, each of which is holding the maximum amount of coins allowed. That ONE player then would then have access to 42,949,672,950 copper pieces (which is 42,949,672 pp 950 cp). Though it's not the norm, there *are* accounts out there that have this many coins accumulated, if not more, due to having more than 10 character slots.

Other than the obvious question: "Why would anyone need more plat than that?"; the other implication would be an immediate shift in the the player-to-player and auction house markets. Prices would likely skyrocket overnight to unprecedented levels, effectively nullifying any new player's chances of participating in either of those in-game markets.

In short, there is a coin limitation for more reasons than just to annoy people and make things seem "difficult" for them, so if I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that limitation to be raised.

The coin cap is limited to exactly 4,294,967 pp 295 cp (the limit of a 32-bit unsigned integer in cp).

That's the idea with using gems. They don't need to raise the cap.

All you need is a Gem Vendor who Sells Gems for a set value and buys them for the same.

When people trade for stuff, if the price is over the pp limit they just add in however many coins are needed to make up the difference.

As far as removing money sinks, I personally feel they need to either include more or change the ones that are here already. I mean the AH one isn't a very good one as anybody who really wants to avoid it can.
By allowing player to player trades, they can avoid the tax from the AH.

Been brought up countless number of times.

I deduce that the amount of time it took for the AH Search function to be implemented from the moment it was mentioned will be the same amount of time this Bank feature will be implemented.

But yeah,
