In the world of mmo's rpg's ddo has the worst sound track.

Actually, I love all forms of the tavern music. I do hate the Marketplace theme music though.

A pity. I've found the bulk of the DDO soundtrack to be quite nice and, more importantly, very fitting to the atmosphere it was created for.

The tavern themes (http://rageclash.net/rageclash/sound/ddo/music/Town/tavern_11.ogg) are catchy, the battle themes (http://rageclash.net/rageclash/sound/ddo/music/Battle/vale_battle_3.ogg) tend to be memorable but not overbearing (although some like the Titan (http://rageclash.net/rageclash/sound/ddo/music/Battle/titan_battle.ogg) purposefully draw attention for tension), the ambiance adds subtle detail, some quests have unique bits (http://rageclash.net/rageclash/sound/ddo/music/Town/protect_your_will.mp3) to add to the quest's flavor, and many other pieces add in their own way (http://rageclash.net/rageclash/sound/ddo/music/Music/the_shroud_2.ogg). I've even found a couple pieces I enjoyed for the upcoming update (http://rageclash.net/rageclash/sound/ddo/music/Battle/malicia_tent_battle.ogg).

As far as the marketplace (http://rageclash.net/rageclash/sound/ddo/music/Town/marketplace.ogg) is concerned, back when Stormreach was new (or post devil invasion) it was a much more downtrodden place. The languid rhythm was set to match the quiet of the outer area as the wind blew paper along the outside because most of the marketplace action took place inside the tent (http://rageclash.net/rageclash/sound/ddo/music/Town/marketplace_tent.ogg). The newer, brighter marketplace you are accustomed to doesn't really fit the mood of the piece like it did in the old days.

However, words can't easily sway what one likes or abhors. If you hate the music, there isn't much to do other than turn the volume down on it. ;)

I think there are several compositions that are rather noteworthy. I have begged on more than one occasion for some of those very same tracks be released for general consumption...;)! Hmmm.
Some of the tavern tunes are wonderful. The old tent music was fabulous. The music that is now in Korthos Village, via 3 Barrel Cove is some good creeper. It grew on me. Among others.
I do get tired quickly of the Marketplace music, though. I would miss it somewhat if it was gone, unless the new one was really good.

*That was an apt insight Ukenbuger!

You know... there's a volume slider for SFX... VC... and surprisingly music.

I tend to kill monsters to a nice mix of Velvet Acid Christ, Aphex Twin, Dillinger Escape plan, Pig Destroyer, In Flames, and Hank Williams Sr.

I wouldn't mind hearing slightly more movie-esque music when it comes to more epic fights.

Some samples would be from a person that named himself "X-Ray Dog" which has produced some music for the music industry. A few samples of their work are...

Dark Side Story - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y39Hj52FhJU
Conquest - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXJj96kw9KM
Eternity - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IK4JtJLm-I
Return of the King - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lYXwJQwZfo

Of course, I'm not saying use those music exactly, but just something similar for those "unreal" and "epic" quests.

Epic music is not always an easy thing to fit on Epic Online Battles. They tend to be made for grand events to carry you through the peak moments, grabbing and enhancing your emotions. However, they can only hold you for so long before the music instead becomes draining, to the point where the moment is destroyed and all is mundane. In an online game setting such as DDO one can't assume a timeframe for the epic battles. Using epic music to accompany them for some might work, but for others would not fit.

This bit of music styling instead is used more for timed events and moments of success, such as Arraetrikos' Judgement (http://rageclash.net/rageclash/sound/ddo/music/Music/tower_of_despair_judgement.ogg) or Thwarting the Threat (http://rageclash.net/rageclash/sound/ddo/music/Music/thwarting_the_threat_2.ogg).

Sorry for taking so long in replying to my own thread for the others whom have done so with their own insight.

To those who enjoy this music, very well to each their own.

My real primary problem with the sound track is the inconsistancy to music. You have some worth-listening-to tracks in my opinion in the game. Like the one in the vale by the bat swarm, which also plays in the feat exchange token quest for the dragon mark. how ever I find the battle themes a little less than epic and enduring. there is another game I used to play just for the music it had I hated the insipid unessicary farm grind the game provided but it's zone's music which was steady in exploring areas, villages, and cities was fluid, and tone setting for the atmosphere.

I can't seem to get into the moods for the music through this game for the setting. (and sadly my computer hates window's media player and won't work with this game very well. I'm no tech head, sorry.) If anything else new tracks or at least steady tracks in the exploring areas would be nice.

I appologize for my OP here I was short on time and had a few things to do with the guild whom were getting tired of waiting on each other.

Thanks
V
