Fire storm is a level 8 divine damage spell. It's an evocation spell. And for all the evocation-specced divines out there who love blade barrier, fire storm is especially painful.

Fire Storm
Cooldown: 6 seconds
Spell Point Cost:
Target: Foe, Directional, Breakable
8 (Cleric, Favored Soul)
Components: Somatic, Verbal
School: Evocation
Metamagic: Empower, Enlarge, Heighten, Maximize, Quicken
Spell Resistance: No
A storm causes an area to become shot through with sheets of roaring flame, causing 1d6 per caster level fire damage to targets in its area.

Fire storm has three advantages to blade barrier:

No reflex save
extra 5d6 dmg for a lvl 20
your target doesn't have to move

The extra damage is a wash, because it's a lvl 8 spell and doesn't benefit from sup pot 6.

The target not moving is a wash, because moving targets get hit by a blade barrier multiple times.

And the no reflex save is nice, but because the spell already has dmg problems (no sup pot affecting it) it doesn't help.

Currently, no one takes this spell.

Here are some ideas to fix spell:

1) Firewall light-

After the spell hits, add a stationary "firewall" like area, maybe just a red burning ground, that does 1d3 dmg per caster level. That would be roughly half the dmg of firewall (maybe less) given all the fire upgrades arcanes get.

This would make this spell useful, but would be significantly enough weaker than firewall for it to not compete.

2) Extra burn dmg-

Add a stackable burn portion of 1d3 dmg per caster level every three seconds for 12 seconds. Add a reflex save to avoid this and take half dmg.

This would make the dmg actually mean something, while spicing it up but still not making it 'useful'
