OK question about the Perform skill.

I understand that in order to use and/or get some of the Bard songs, you need to have a certain number of Ranks into the skill.

What is the point of continually raising the skill, after you have the required number of ranks for the song needing the highest Perform ranks?

What is the point of getting the Perform enhancements and Skill Focus: Perform (for non-Virtusosos)?

What is the point in getting an item that gives you a + to Perform?

Thanks all.

Max out your perform skill. You need 18 ranks to get the last commonly used song, 21 to get all songs, and who knows, next update they could add a song. You might as well therefore go to the max ranks of 23.

As for a +perform item, it only helps with facinate. The Bard's cloak is a decent choice as its +6chr and +15 perform so its pretty much sneaking in the perform item for free.

SF: perform - total waste

Facinate save = D20 + Perform. Having a 50 -70 save range can be pretty cool.

And 70-95 even cooler.

And both are so far over the max saves mobs have that they still only save/resist the Fascinate on 20's.

A Warchanter Build (lower CHA) might want to be sure to keep a Perform item handy to up their skill level when Fascinating, but any Spellsinger or Virtuoso I know hardly needs anything to help, since it is almost hard to have less than a 40 in the net skill bonus. 23 ranks + 10 (or more from CHA) + 4 (GH) + 2 (Head) puts you at 39 without even trying. Usually with any sort of item you are well into the 50's. Mobs only resist on 20's, IF they can be affected.
