Hey Devs, have a suggestion.

Can you put a party audible cue in for when a rogue spots a trap? Have it timed into when a rogue makes the spot check and the icon shows up that in a dm voice would say,"I spot a trap, be careful." or something along those lines. I can't always use my mic and it would be extremely helpful for not just me but for every rogue out there.

I like this suggestion, if not something audible like you describe, have a graphical spider sense tingling go off around the person's head or something, just make pug groups a little more pug friendly.

Interesting, many a time people hit the trap before I can yell Trap!

Make it a recording of someone shouting "ITS A TARP!"

I think it is the rogue player's job to tell their party there is a trap.

However, I've always thought that traps should have two spot DCs. One to get the warning message, and one to outright see it. Right now, a rogue can spot a trap but have no idea what kind it I until they search. Once searched, the trap shows up but by that time you also see the box and disable it so it is pointless.

A high enough spot to reach the low DC (current DC) should give a warning, an even higher one should just make the trap visible, no matter I the player is a rogue or not. This makes spot a little more useful for non-rogues

I have a 2-part system for letting the party know there is a trap in the area.

1. I key my mic, and say "Trap".
2. I leave the soulstone in the trap until I'm done disarming.

If the rest of the party misses those 2 signs, then no audible/visual effect will ever do anything for them.

I think this plays well into another recent suggestion that would allow players to trigger in-game audio messages similar to what they have in other games. One of the obvious ones would be in regards to traps.

The Left 4 Dead series has this feature and it comes in handy for players without mics.

Found a quick vid showing the vocalization menu in L4D.. probably doesnt need to be 6 minutes long, but you get the idea if youre interested.

Next on Judge Ackbar: Was it a trap?

Actually, this already exists in the form of a listen check.

One example is the floors in Wiz King that can fall out; if they will fall, you get a listen check with the DM voice saying "You hear falling stone" or something like that.

I definitely think it would be neat to add more of these though, in conjunction with randomized traps so that people don't just automatically know where they are anyways. It's always good to make a skill a bit more useful.

We have a winner!
