Greetings,

I am F2P up until this point and have earned almost 700 TP.

I am considering my first adventure pack purchase and would like feedback on the following.

It seems that advancing to level 5-6 doing the typical Korthos/Harbour/Market runs is fairly quick and easy. After that it slows down a bit and I have found some of the house quests challenging and also at times hard to find a good group to complete them with.

Based on what I have read here Gianthold is a sure thing and it is recommended for level 12+.

So what I need now is something to span between 6-12. It could be 2 packs, or it might be 1, maybe more????????

I have considered Tangleroot, but it seems to level out before 12.

Deleras Tomb looks good but is alot more points to purchase.

Please show me the enlightened path............

Clen

I would take delera's over tangleroot. XP is better and so are the rewards imo, voice of the master as an end reward +5%xp trinket

You should read the consolidate AP review, if you haven't.

Delara's (quest level 5-8) is pretty tough at 6, where Tangleroot (3-7) is doable, OTOH Delara's wil ltake you farther. Delara's has more compelling loot it's true, but Tangleroot's Visor of the Flesh Render guards (Death ward goggles) are almost as compelling as VoM. I think if I were contrained to pick and choose, I'd go:

Delara's
Demon Sands
Gianthols
Threnal & Tangleroot are strong alternates in that range.

At 700 points, you cannot afford GH (I think it's in the 900s last time I checked). Delera's is fun but you outlevel the storyline at 8-11 depending on how much of an xp crutch you use it as. It also has 4 non story line quests that give good exp, but people mostly buy it for the voice of the master trinket/tribute to Gary Gygax.

adventure packs are account-wide right? so if i create another character i can run that character through the same adventure pack i ran my last character through?

or are they per-character?

adventure pack purchases unlock content for all characters on account.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Let me clarify........

I have collected 700 TP for free so far by playing.

I am planning on investing additional $$$ into some Adventure packs to expand my experience.

Let me also try and rephrase the questions to better reflect my goal

"Finding the best adventure pack to get me from level 6 to level 12. At level 12, I plan to have Gianthold.

- Will Tangleroot get me much higher than 8?

- Seems like maybe Deleras is a better option (I play in groups mostly)

- Are there other packs better suited to the main goal?

Delera's and GH together could feasibly get to almost 15, at which point I would buy the vale of twilight. With those 3 packs, you can enjoy a major portion of endgame content, and you will have lots to do with those 3 for a while, at which point you might have accumulated enough TP to buy others.

Personally though, I can't stand Delera's.

It sounds to me like you are looking for a pack to help you get to level 9/10. There really is only one pack that fits your desired 6-12 range and that is the Threnal pack (7-11ish range). It is ok, but really all you need is to get to around level 10. Then you will have 2 of the best options for quests in the game open to you. That would be Gianthold (GH) and Demon Sands (desert or Menectarun). With either one of these you can get to level 14 easily. Gianthold will take you pretty easily to 16. Together if you grind them out to max xp, you can probably get 17. That said you are in Vale area then and Amrath.

This may help illistrate what we are trying to say better.

Delera's Tomb best for levels 5-8. Can get to level 9 with some re-running.

Tangleroot best for levels 3-7. Can get close to 8 by re-running.

Threnal best for running 7-11. Can be difficult to get past 10 with this.

Vault of Night best for levels 8-11. can be used to get to level 12 if re-run several times. The 1st paid for raid in the game. Soon to get the "Epic" treatment, so there may be some good replay value if/when you get to level 20.

Demon Sands best for levels 9-15. Probably not a lot of XP past that. Good slayer area, but it tops out at level 15. Has gotten the "Epic" treatment. Some decent high level replay value.

Gianthold best for levels 10-16. Slayer area tops out at level 18. At level 10, can be challenging. Loads of XP, and one of the better areas for loot/plat in the game. This should be your first "must buy" pack. It makes leveling through the low teens easy and fun.

Orchard of the Macabre best run from levels 12-17. Best slayer area in the game. Quests have nice XP, but can be a PITA unless in a decent group. Still not a must buy, but the slayer area alone makes this a decent option.

Ones to avoid would be the Restless Isles/Titan Raid (it's ok, just not enough stuff to do IMO), Necropolis 2 or 3 (good-great XP, but that's about it. People really don't like to run many of these quests), and Shan-to-Kor (great pack, but you are looking for higher level content from the sounds of your post). Vale and Devil Battlefield are really for play at level 14-18 (Vale) and 17-20 (battlefield). So from your post I'm guessing that you are not looking that far ahead.

Or just wait for the sales.

Got myself Sorrowdusk, just because it was on sale and I wanted the House D favor.
Have to admit I already bought Delera and STK when on sale too.

Ah, noticed STK is on sale again. Really recommend it. Nice story and look, while it´s the reputation quest (http://ddowiki.com/page/Haggle) for the Market vendors. Meaning you´ll get better prices for selling your vendor trash once you finish this quest.

Techwench, the reason I linked to my blog post is that I had already written it last week and it saved me having to retype or edit a paste. It would also show anyone who looked at it that someone else had found it useful on reading it and it wasn't just a waste of time, which was my intention of posting in my blog in the first place.

It contained the 'real link', I wasn't trying to sell herbal viagra or tell you that your computer was infected with malware and needed to buy my scanning software.

Of course, if you want to post all of your online banking details I am sure a lot of people would be very grateful.

Let me also try and rephrase the questions to better reflect my goal

"Finding the best adventure pack to get me from level 6 to level 12. At level 12, I plan to have Gianthold. No one pack will do all that for you. Extended with all the free content to exhaustion, you might be able to make do with just Demon Sands.

- Will Tangleroot get me much higher than 8? Not really. Adventures are level 3-7 Most of my toons have done it in levels 5-7

- Seems like maybe Deleras is a better option (I play in groups mostly) Well, depends on when you start it - guests are level 5-7 in the main series, plus the annoying tomed one. . It'll take you to 9 easily if you start around level 8.

- Are there other packs better suited to the main goal? I think you'll need Demon sands at minimum

My take, for what it's worth. Demon Sands is a must-have, IMAO, and Delara's is very nice. Those two will help relieve the boredom a lot on the long road to Gianthold.
