Hello all,
I have been playing a staff rogue inspired by the BF Stick thread and i have been having a blast. I thought I would try making a new version. I know he's not your ideal DPS build, or an ideal trap build, but somewhere in the middle... where I actually can enjoy playing him.

My main concerns..
Wisdom 12 to start.... For Monk armor Bonus, Will Saves, and Spot... Is this a waste of build points?

Is his AC or lack there of going to be a huge issue... as long as I'm not main tanking.

What Raid Gear and GS Items would be best for him? Hes shown with no raid gear, just a few +6 stat items.

Docents ~vs~ Armor Bracers.... what would really be better?

WF Tactics build.... is it working to much into this build... is it even useful?

Thanks in advance all.

Why Kensai 2 instead of Acrobat 2? That seems backwards and doesnt makee best use of staff. You would still be able to focus on 1 tactic which is probably all you need with just 6 fighter.

I was thinking Kensai 2 for Power Surge. The massive Str boost mainly for realistic if slightly sub par DPS End game.

I could probably make up that difference with the extra backstab damage from rogue levels, but i already have a 18Rogue / 2monk Staff build. It's a blast to play, but argo management is a pain.

I do TOO much damage and i cant take the beating thats coming. So i'm forced to play smart. That works fine in Guild groups, but in Pugs... you never can tell if a fighter or Barb can actually do enough damage to hold agro. Its not unusual for me to pull argo from nontwinked nonvet players.

With Kensai... I can hold that agro and have enough HPs to take some punishment.

Those were my thoughts on Kensai over Acrobat.

I in no way see how getting a strength boost is going to make this low AC character better at surviving when he pulls agro.

Wis is fine. I would do things a little different but that is a playstyle thing.

Also, I would choose Docents over bracers. There is a docent [Q(something) of Battle] that gives you a total of +10 to AC.

Hello, relative newbie to the DDO scene, been wanting to put together a WF acrobat staffer myself! I have been juggling the class splits around as well. The only thing i am set on is the WF race, and the fact I would only concentrate on stunning blow or trip, not all the specials. Would open the char up to more defensive feats. Anywho, can anybody tell me if these multi ideas are way off base?

13 rog 6 fighter 1 barb. I like the idea of increased crits and DCs with kensei. starting stats 16 14 16 14 10 6

13 rog 7 monk, wind stance, Wf rogue with a staff, no problems staying centered. starting stats 15 14 16 14 12 6

are these both good fun through mid-upper levels or will it just slowly turn from good fun as a newbie to a ball of suck?

I created a WF going for the 13/7 and so far like him alot, but cant really tell too much at level 3 right?

I'll bite.......

What is the purpose of Acrobat I?

I suppose the bonus to attack spead. One can argue if tempest I wouldn't be better...

However for me it sounds like a reasonable enough build.

Kind of looking to see what the OP wanted out of the Acrobat I.

Anderei is correct, it was mainly for the Speed boost to combat. 6 Levels of rogue will also let me keep this build trap speced.

If i swapped to Ranger for Tempest, Wouldnt I only gain the attack speed boost while 2WF? As a q-staff build... i dont think Tempest would be the best idea, unless im wrong about how Tempest works.

Assuming that you are sticking with Rogue and melee class, I would do MC12/R7/M1 or MC6/R13/M1

This still gets you the Speed Boost and you do not lose anything from Monk. Rog 2 gets evasion and getting it for free twice has NO benefit in DDO. Also, you get one more level of SA dice.

Just remember that you cannot wear Armor(robes, outfits are fine) and get the Monk Wis AC.

im sorry lawpre, but what does MC stand for?

binnsr

probably MC=MeleeClass -- i.e. fighter/ranger/paladin/etc.

I could see a couple of level splits that might be better..
13rog/6barb/1?? (Acrobat II and Frenzy I)
13rog /6pal/1mnk (Acrobat II and KotC/HotD depending on your mood)

With both of them, I'd go WF and take the 2HF feats and enhancements

If you really wanted to only stick with Acrobat I and maximize your AC/saves potential, 12Pal/7Rog/1Mnk would do the trick.

You are correct. There is NO reason for a Staff-wielder to go for Tempest.

Yes, MC stands for Melee Class. I keep forgetting that aconymsand abbreviations are not standard
