i wanted to try out a tempest/warchanter build and at the moment im not really sure how to finish the build.

my starting stats where

18,14,14,8,11,11

race is human

i am currently ranger6,bard 4

of course im planning to get bard 6 for the warchanter and must likely to bard 8 for spells and better songs.

as for the ranger part, im not sure if i should go to ranger 12 for the 2nd tempest. i noticed, i have armor class issues and im not sure if this ever gets better, even when i get barskin and the +1 ac for tempest 2.

so i might stop at ranger 6 and take 6 levels fighter for example? or should i get two more ranger levels for barkskin?

any ideas?

The few Tempest Warchanter builds I've seen (including my own) suggest stopping at 6 Ranger and 14 Bard.

This is because 6 Ranger is the best stopping point for enhancements, and also because there's not a huge benefit to going past 14 Bard unless you're dead set on having the best songs.

ok but i dont wanna be called a bard. i wanna be more of a fighter.

therefore the ranger6/bard8/fighter6 - idea.

or in other words: tempest/warchanter/kensei.

You need Ranger 11 unless you have something else planned to get Greater Two Weapon Fighting. (Like a +3 tome, or +2 and 1 level up, etc...)

i thought about that issue. do i really need greater two weapon fighting?

i get some weapon specialization instead and kensei boni, too.

but ya. probablly im spending 1 level up in dex and will feat exchange as soon as i can get a +2 dex tome.

just the general question: is greater twf THAT important?

It is if you're maximizing your DPS.

Yes, it's that important. You would also miss out on Evasion. And also for Kensai I you'll need 10 AP for the prereqs and PrE. I know with my warchanters, APs get pretty tight with the song improvements, Lingering Song, healing and wand damage enhancemets.

Nice idea, but you'll still show as a Bard in party view, and people will address you as such. Trust me.

Also, though you do get Improved Inspire Courage at 8, you don't get Inspire Greatness til 9, meaning you'll end up at end-game with only Inspire Courage and Inspire Competence.

so i took a look at this character planner and tried to make a car that comes close to what i seeked for. too lazy to fill out the skills and ignore the fav enemie choices.

oddly, i wasnt able to take greater twf on level 20 even though i made it to 17 base dex at that point.

enhancements may not be perfect. i took a lot of toughness improvements and made sure to get the prestige classes.

feedback plz :D

ok but i dont wanna be called a bard. i wanna be more of a fighter.

Class levels are only loosely connected to what role you play in a group.

If you focus all your abilities / feats / stats onto dealing damage, you still might have a Bard icon, but will play him like a Fighter who just has a hobby of buffing the schnitzels out of the party at the start of the quest, before he joins the melee carnage.

You have to use the tome before you take your last level. Think about it this way-- by using a tome at 20 you talk to your trainer, choose skills and feats, finish leveling up, then read your tome. But you've already taken your last feat and you didn't meet the dex requirement. If you want to take GTWF, you have to use the tome at 19, then you can take GTWF at 20. Though, really, you want to take it earlier.

Also I noticed that you didn't choose your skills. With an 8 Int and taking your last levels as a Fighter, you're going to have to drop skills. You'll probably be able to max UMD, but only at the expense of Concentration, Perform, Haggle and any other skill you might want.
