There should be a trade 3-1 npc for every quest where there is a system where you need to collect items.

Shroud collectables <smalls--->mediums--->larges AND Chains--->stones--->bones etc.>
Gianthold <already there>
Dreaming dark <fruitloops and pie pieces>
Tome pages
Shield pieces
Sigil Pieces
Dragon Scales
ETC ETC.

There is no need for a 3->1 trade feature for most of those examples, because the player has control over what item he's going for when choosing which encounter to attack. If you want Tome Page I then you go into Black Mausoleum and fight Cinnis. If you want a blue Inspiration Quarter shard then you do Sunken Parish (and the optional). Etc.

The situations where a trade-in mechanic would be an improvement is when the player has no way to make a decision about what's going to drop, such as with Shroud ingredients. Because all six Shroud ingredients drop at the same rate but are consumed at around 2-3x different rates, what happens is that over time you accumulate useless stacks of everything except stones and scales, which are the limiting factor in crafting anything.

It was a human error to create consumption rates that were so uneven, and a trade-in system would act as a safety valve against that kind of a mistake.

The colored dragon scales could also deserve a system like that, because they all come from runs of the same quest. (Farming just one dragon and ignoring the others isn't a realistic choice, because you've already cleared the gatekeeper by that point).

Yes but now im sacked on the new content and this is what I got. Not fun to have to run the same 3-4 quests 8 times each and still not have what you need. If their intention was to make you sick of new content as fast as possible they have succeeded.
