When I advance as a ranger I didn't get a feat to spend. Do I get a feat point at level 5 and 6 because I need two more feat for Tempest.

Good; you aren't supposed to. You will get a granted class feat at level 5 (Favored Enemy) and two at level 6 (Manyshot and Improved Two Weapon Fighting) in addition to a feat of your choice at level 6.

1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 are your basic feats. If you grab a level of fighter or monk you get a bonus martial feat, wizards get a bonus metamagic feat, and for ranger every 5 levels you get another favored enemy feat. There are others, but I'm lazy.

As a Ranger you recieve feats as such:

Level 1: One feat of your choice.
Level 1: Bow Strength (Ranger Bonus)
Level 1: Favored Enemy (Ranger Bonus, Your Choice)
Level 2: Two Weapon Fighting (Ranger Bonus)
Level 2: Rapid Shot (Ranger Bonus)
Level 3: One feat of your choice.
Level 3: Diehard
Level 5: Favored Enemy (Ranger Bonus, Your Choice)
Level 6: One feat of your choice.
Level 6: Improved Two Weapon Fighting (Ranger Bonus)
Level 6: Manyshot (Ranger Bonus)

You best bet is to be a dwarf or WF with High STR, and take Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack as your chosen feats.

feats are granted every 1st, 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th, 18th level

fighters get bonus feats every 2 levels

class granted feats come at various times by class.

I think I get what you guys are saying. But I am trying to get tempest at level 6 so since I get a feat of my choice at level 5, then I guess I choose spring attack and ITWF is a bonus feat at level 6... So I guess it is possible to reach tempest at level 6?

you get a favored enemy feat at level 5, but yes, you'd take spring attack at level 6 and get ITWF as a "free" feat for being 6 ranger.

Yes.
Your level 1 feat is dodge.
Your level 3 feat is mobility.
your level 6 feat is spring attack.

Or be a human, or splash a monk/fighter level.

You can make Tempest at level 6 by choosing Dodge at level 1, Mobility at level 3, and Spring Attack at level 6. You'll get TWF at level 2 and ITWF at level 6 as Ranger bonus feats. (A Human Ranger could take Dodge and Mobility at level 1, but will still have to wait until 6 to get Spring Attack due to the BAB pre-requisite.)

Also is tempest a passive skill that you automatically get when you get the pre-requisite feats?

I gained some spells when my ranger turned level 4 and when I tried to put them in the prepare slot it basically said my ability score was too low. What does it mean?

You need a Wisdom score of 10 + spell level to be able to prepare spells as a Ranger. So for 1st level spells you need an 11 Wisdom. You can get this from base value + item bonuses.

As a ranger you need a wisdom score of 10+ lvl of spell items will count for that so get yourself a wisdom item if you started with an 8 wisdom you will still be able to reach the 14 needed for your max spell lvl, you general cant get a +3 item until lvl 7. You may also want a spell point item equiped so you can cast your spells after casting switch out the spell point item for something more useful just remember to switch back before you use a shrine so you can get the spell points again.

It's an Enhancement that you have to buy with Action Points, right?

To go with the theme:

"Basicly"

But yes, that is what it is. PrE's are enhancements you have to spend AP on when you meet all the requirements.

for twf feat would having high dex help it hit more.

I have 18 dex as a tempest ranger right now.

Happosaai

A high dex matters not at all, unless you took Weapon Finesse as a feat and are using finessable weapons.

Rangers get the TWF feats for free so they do not need the normally required dexterity.
