I also posted this in Character Builds

Here is a build I am working on. I have most of the gear I need for it and I am approaching 20 runs on several raids and plan on banking some tomes. That being said, I wanted this build to have good/great AC, good DPS, evasion and UMD. I put some ranks into rogue skills but I am not certain if it is enough. Any feedback on the build would be helpful. I have projected stats after the planner output. I am hoping this guy will turnout to be not only an asset to any group, but also a nice solo build. I have added question and comments in the stats and gear section.

I appreciate any feedback and suggestions. I am still trying to work out some of the kinks.

I would suggest that you get the Stunning Fist and Weapon Finesse - instead of OTWF and EWF:K. Also, check out the Kensai build on the forums. Also, I would take Combat Expertise way earlier than 19th.

I might think about Ftr 11/monk 2/rogue7 or ftr 13/Monk2/rogue5 as well.

Also, remember that if you are using anything except for Handwraps, Kamas, Quarterstaves and Shuriken, you will be uncentered and cannot use the Monk abilities.

Next, IF you have ready access to +3 and +4 tomes, I would use those on ALL stats (as Dex and Wis get your AC up, Str gets you dps up, Con gives more HP, etc.).

Also, as both Rogue and Monk are more skill based, you Int is way too low. As a result, you do not have enough points for high end effectiveness.

This build is a str build and I plan on using khops to optimize dps, don't want it to be a monk.

I might think about Ftr 11/monk 2/rogue7 or ftr 13/Monk2/rogue5 as well.

And give up SD II? Why? In the latter case why 13 ftr? no feats or anything worthwhile other than 4 more hps, with rogue I get assasin I and +1 dex.

Dont plan on using monk abilities, just want the feats, and the wis bonus to AC

Dealing with Khopesh and Monk AC.

I would check to see IF you lose the Monk AC when not centered. I do not have an answer to that (can't find anything in compendium, I am in a "dead" area and cannot log into DDO). IF you do not lose the Wis bonuses, then you have a really good plan and you should stick to it. Otherwise, you might wanto to re-evaluate how the build


I pointed the Tomes thing out as you had some stats that were not being raised that way. Figured that you had some purpose behind it but...

As I understand it (I had a 13 effective recednt absence from DDO because Iraq/Afghan War), you need to be pretty close to maxxed out on Rogue Skills (DD, OL, MS) in order to be effective in the 6-15 range. Rogue trap skills are not really needed 16 and above. Maxxed out is level+3. So, 6th level would be 9, etc.

I have heard that you can only have 1 prestige line at a time. So, you may not be able to have SD II AND Assassin I. So, the question becomes do you want Assassin of SD as well as how much SA dps do you want.

I got the feeling that you did not want to do much with Monk so I eliminated ftr12/Monk3/Rog5 and ftr11/Monk3/Rog6. This is despite getting the Paths (and Fist of Light) from 3rd level.

Aye, the monk ac stands so long as you are unencumbered, not using a shield and are not wearing armor (robes are ok). I just put the tomes in the planner at level 20 since I didnt remember when you could take +3 tomes.

Good to know about the Wis AC bonus. It will save me some clickies and pots!

I would go rogue 7 for SA Training 3 for another +3 sneak atk damage. You will loose 1 feat, wich I personally would change out with Mobility, and instead of getting Spring attack, I would take Stunning Blow.

Change around on some of the enhancments and get Fighter Strategy (+DC to stunning blow), Fighter Haste up to III at least.

And why Stalwart Defender when this is a DPS build?

Loose 2 AC
Gain +2 to hit, +4 crit dmg
With Kensai Kopesh Mastery that is.

Totally worth it for a DPS build though.
