Area map extraction?

Is there any know method to extract the area maps from the dat files? The fog is fine the first run through an area, but having it reset every so often is annoying, i'd like to just have some fully visiable maps to reference.

It is not a method for extraction however man does this post rock. Dorim has always been a hero to me.
