Tell me about it.

Are there Rangers out there actually using this? How to increase the chances of it working?
What about Vermin and Elemental? You get a separate clicky just for these monsters, right?

Thanks in advance for some battle wisdom, especially from the higher level content.

I'll take a stab at this.

Both types of empathy are based on ranger level and charisma mod. If, like most rangers, your charisma is in the 6-8 range, you likely won't get much use out of it before 10th level.

Wild Empathy works on animals (usually wolves), and makes them stand still, even while being attacked. It lasts a reasonably long time, but can take a while to cast & is very fussy about positioning (easy to waste a charge because the creature is no longer in front of you). It also has a long recast timer, so they're usually all dead by the time you can try again.

Improved Wild Empathy also works on animals, but by that level there's a larger range of them to try it on, like razorcats and rats in the Orchard. It charms the creature so it will fight for you. Can be fun with things like razorcats that trip opponents.

Vermin Empathy works on vermin - spiders, scorpions, that sort of thing. It does the stun effect, not the charm

Elemental Empathy works on elementals - Fire, Earth, Air...not mephits, though. They aren't Elementals. It also does the stun effect (so no charming air elementals to knock down all your opponents).
