So I had a Full Set of +2 No ML Tomes laying around and decided to make this guy last night. Primarily a SOlo Project but should be a decent character for groups as well.

I was going to do a 12/6/2 Fvs/Fighter/Monk for Kensai I, Evasion, and HEAL Spell but in the end decided on this split.
13 FvS gives me the opertunity to have HEAL and Blade Barrier. My DC wont be spectacular, but that shouldnt matter much. Its more of an "oh ****" Button.. I just aggroed too much stuff and need to kits some mobs around to reset.
4 Fighter gives me 3 Feats including Weapon Spec and FOcus.
3 Monk gives me Efavion of course, 2 Feats, and then that third level I can take advantage of some Healing Curses and perhaps the Spell Point reduction Buff.

Please note again that this is primarily a Soloist build. Decent melee, Powerful Self healing, good Damage. It is a High Investment to be slightly above average in a lot of different catagories.

How's it working out so far? Also, if you went for the first version you almost tried (going for Kensai I) what would you have done differently (where would you have taken the levels, what spells not taken, etc). Your Kensai mastery - on the scimis, kamas, or both? Lastly, how effective will the BB's be with this build? (assuming dont take Heal and just use Heal scrolls). I am kind of a newb to casting so I am not even sure how high Wisdom needs to be for BB to do it's thing well.

Also, how would you adjust is I dont have access to no ML tomes? I dont mind buying the +1's from the DDO Store (ML 3), and I am ok assuming I'll find some ML 7 +2s down the road.

Reason I ask is because I've been playing around trying to figure out what FvS to build. I was checking out your 'real good FvS', but this is intriguing. I solo quite a bit, but also play with some guild mates - probably 50/50. I like melee a lot, but as I am leveling up an exploiter ranger type build I am getting bored with just hack and slack and am interested in something that mixes melee (taking into consideration I really love melee), with some casting - mainly to mix it up and keep it interesting so it doesnt feel like I am just doing the same thing over and over. So I am wondering if perhaps this build will be a better fit than your other one.

(PS - my exploiter-ish drow is at level 8, and I am actually considering shifting that build to your Leesa 3.0 build with the rogue/ranger/monk - up to that point the paths are very close so it looks very doable, and that Leesa 3.0 build looks interesting as a solo capable, but fun, build)

Have you considered taking the Least and Lesser Dragonmarks of Shadow?

Extended Displacements wouldn't be a bad fit on this type of character.

Decided to drop down to a 17FvS/1FIghter/2Monk.

As I leveled this guy (12 so far) I Realized that I dont realy need the Weapon FOcuse and Weapon Specilization. I hit just fine and I can gain 1/2 the Weapon Spec feat from L15 FvS Enhancments anyway. Plus, Wings are cool.

SO I dropped those off the list and will do without Empower Spell... Kinda brings me back to my "Really Good FvS" but still STR focused rather than Wisdom. I'll probably take my l16 Level up point in Wisdom to get that up to 28 easy and I can still drop into Monk stance to raise it to 30. Not a bad DC for a melee character.

I would highly suggest one level of rogue instead of fighter if you can possibly do without the feat. You lose the feat but keep haste boost and gain umd, intim (if you wanted it), more dmg (via sneak attack 1d6 as well as 3 dmg for 1 ap). Imo for a soloist build full UMD is way more powerful than any single feat.

My cleric version of the 18/2mnk/1rog has just been a ridiculously capable soloist.

You can solo everything soloable in this game with this

You can park yourself in front of Kobold boss on elite and go grab a cofee

I decided against the rogue.... I can take effective use of the Feat. My UMD is pretty solid even with it being not a class skill (Should hit 30 Easily) and the sneak atack doesnt excite me like some folks....

I can solo just about anything soloable with any of my Clerics, my Pure FvS, my Wizard, or even some of my Melee builds. THis build isnt about "The only way to solo" at all... Just another way to do it...

Impaqt - so what feats did you adjust with the less fighter levels?

Did you still take OTWF at 2 but the plan is to leave it as is?

And given you didnt take fighter at level 12 what's your plan for the feats from that point on?

Also, knowing what you do now as you've been leveling him up - anything else you'd adjust (with stats or otherwise)? For example, if you are going to put that last level up point into Wisdom, would you have 1 less starting point in Strength (since otherwise you end up at 29). And, given you wont have level 9 spells, you really only need to get Charisma to 18, so would you start with less Charisma?

Lastly, do you believe the Wand and Scroll Mastery is that important (will it really use that many cleric/Fvs wands/scrolls given it has so many SPs?). If so, you could spend enhancement points in Charisma 2 and Charisma 3, and move some of those build points elsewhere?

I have a build based off your 'really good FvS' that's at level 5 and I think I am going to either re-roll or put on hold for this build you got here. I just really like to melee, and I solo a lot. I really like what you have here, seems to be a good mix that wont be a boring melee only build, but will be a solid melee.

I appreciate your help and insight, I am learning a LOT from your posts.

Awesome. Exactly what I needed.

I do have some questions (I am still a newb on a very steep learning curve).

Are you swapping any feats down the road (such as improved critical when you get mineral 2 weapons) and if so, to what?

What do you think of getting some of the cheap (from an AP standpoint) fighter 1 enhancements (improved critical accuracy, haste boost?) and trading off some of the expensive advanced enhancements (wand and scroll mastery 4?).

Given you only need a max of 18 charisma for spell casting, what do you think of starting with lower charisma to add to a different ability up front, perhaps even starting as low as 8 and adding through enhancments (8 + 2 FvS + 2 tome + 6 item)? Or if going for 20: 9 + 3 FvS + 2 tome + 6 item?

Thanks again!

Nope, thats the progression I'm plannin on exactly., No need to swap anything out.

Enhancements are dynamic.. you can swap em around as you want to. I do use haste boost a bit now, but will get more mileage out of damage boost in the end I think.

11 is the minimum I generally go with. you could drop a bit and raise dex to 16 so you only need a +1 tome for ITWF I guess.

CHR gives me some spell points and more importantly a little extra on my UMD checks.

I jsut dont have the 4-10 more action points I would need to take CHR II and III on the build. you can always play with those enhancemts though to see what works best for you.

How's the build working out?

My fvs that u basically based on your 'really good fvs' is currently at a point where I can pretty much go in either direction. I am level 6 going on 7, and when I hit 8 I think will be a point where u can go either way (take my fighter level there and start putting level up points into strength then). So o was wondering how it was going and any thoughts or feedback, especily now that you probably have a few fvs builds under your belt.

Thanks

I noticed that you skipped the Fighter's Haste boost. You might want to consider it in place of the Clever Monkey enhancement.

Impaqt - how's the wisdom you got going working out for the blade barriers, and are you finding the trade off of the fighter level to not have level 9 spells (implosion?) worth it?

nah. I rarely use my Clickies anyway.

FOr BB, my DC is pretty good. I would never take Implosion on a build like this anyway for my 9th level spell. Reduced DC and Reduced SPell penn makes a pretty useless Spell. Energy Drain would most likely be my CHoice. Or Summon Mon IX evev.
