View Full Version : Need help with my ranger build

Hi everyone!

This is my first toon, and I wanted to build a arcane archer. At some point I have choosen to step away from the guided level advancements and bit of got lost on getting the arcane archer enhancements.

Now I've got lost on my build, so i do not consider my toon as any type of ranger, as well as I fell it is a little fragile for the quests. I wonder anybody could help me through this, maybe give an opinion on the build. I didn't want to start over again cause unfortunately I don't have too much spare time for playing!

Please don't mind the order that I acquired the feats and enhancements, cause i did the sheet manually on DDOCharPlanner.

Unless i'm mistaken, i believe the prerequisites for Arcane Archer are as follows

Feat: Point Blank Shot, Feat: Weapon Focus: Ranged Weapons,
Anyone of the following : - Energy of the Dragonblooded I, Energy of the Scholar I, Energy of Music I, Elven Arcanum I, or Feat: Mental Toughness

You already have Point Blank Shot, and i assume later on you will take the Weapon Focus. Take one of those listed above and then from level 6 you can select Arcane Archer. I guess you would have to take the Mental Toughness feat as i think the Elven Arcanum enhancement requires a Wizard level..

Your build looks fine! Really. The only thing i would say that is incorrect is that you took the enhancement Ranger Move Silently I. You could probably find a couple of enhancements which would be better for you than that one.

You may feel a little fragile as generally, a character who uses Ranged is weaker than those who use Melee to attack. Just practice and be careful selecting which monsters you are shooting at so you don't bite off more than you can chew!

Hi Torosar, thanks for your help!

First of all, I found out that i already have the Weapon Focus: Ranged Weapons. I think there may be an error on DDOChar Planner cause my toon have such feat but I can't select it on the Char Planner in any of the levels before.

That's a good thing, cause then I only have to choose Mental Toughness and the other ones are only available if I multiclass to sorcerer or wizard. So, I shall take Mental Toughness when leveling to lvl 6.

Thanks for your help!
