What drawback to making a human ranger instead of a elven one?

Also is their any advantage to having more than 8 int when starting a ranger, figher, cleric or something that normally does not need it?

Thanks in advance.

It depends on the type of ranger you are creating and what you plan to do with it.

Ranged ranger (a ranger that focuses on ranged fighting) you will miss out on
a dex through AP
Other AP enhancements that give a bonus to your to hit and dmg while using long and short bows
but you will gain an extra feat however ranged rangers are not hurting for feats and usually spend a couple on melee type feats anyways.

Melee ranger

It really depends on build here as well ... if you decide to go dex based then you will miss out on

the dex through AP
elves can get bonus to rapier to hit and dmg that humans can't (rapier is the best weapon you can use being dex based)

if you go str based then human will be better

you get an extra feat that elves don't so easier to pick up an exotic weapon such as Khopesh
you can put your AP stat to str and con where elves are forced to take dex 1 and 2

I am sure there are more but those are the ones off the top of my head.
