Is it possible to scale default UI elements?

I use a media center PC connected to my tv, and the standard UI is painfully small and text is very diffucult to read.

I looked through the options and couldn't find anything, is there any way to:

a) Generally scale UI elements

and/or

b) Increase the font size used?
