An Alliance has been formed amongst the guilds:

Darkside http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=174849 ~Eberon Dwarf Tossing League~The Swamp Foxes~Berry Goddess Inn
Order of the Silver Dragons~The Peacemakers~Bloodline Dynasty~Dragons Folly~Warrior's Soul

The Alliance was originally created to allow players to remain in their own smaller guilds, yet enable them to take advantage of the benefits that are found when one is a member of a larger community.

Guilds that are friends with any of the above guilds should look into joining the Alliance, and becoming a brother/sister-guild.

I love this alliance! What a great way to find like-minded players when forming a gorup or raid. Thanks for making this happen, it makes LFG so much better!

the alliance channel...LFM pt 2.

It's basically two things:
1. A shared chat channel that provides an extra resource to fill out a party.
2. A way to shoot the breeze during downtime with like-minded folks, outside the general channel.
... the channel is like a radio station.

there are many of us who came from small guilds that folded or just did not have enough players ...we at least could get some more groups going.

The Thieves Guild
...if someone in the guild is not available or out of your range to help, please make use of this channel!...we make an attempt to help any of their members when we can and also if they ask us for help namely: items, advice, quest knowledge that we try to take time out to help them.
That' s why it is there, and many of us try to maintain and use the channel to eep it going.

I still use this and chat with others, or jump in when they are doing something i am interested in. The Alliance is as good as people make it. The more in it the better.

An alliance of guilds (myself for adult players only) is a great Idea.

I know we have had talks recently about an alliance with Eberron Dwarf Tossing League, but perhaps getting in on this larger alliance would be more beneficial instead. Ive played with members of EDTL and Darkside before, however I dont think ive played with The Swamp Foxes. I know the rest of us have similar outlooks/playstyles/exc though so I am sure they do as well.

Ill discuss it amongst my brethren, and if both sides come to agreement perhaps we will join you in this alliance. Send me a PM or a tell in game if you would like discuss this more :)

Hello everyone! It's Tam leader for EDTL! So far I truly believe that this alliance is a good thing. I know the Berry Goddess Inn guild is rather small with only 7 players and most don't get on much anymore so this alliance benefits them a great deal.
We would love for the Silver Dragons to join us. Every time I quest with a members of OotSD it is always a pleasant and fun experience.

Thank you to Drelco for inviting EDTL into the Alliance!

To strengthen the Alliance please make sure all associated guild members are a part of the Alliance, and make sure characters are added to your friends-list.

The real life application is the players become closer, and know each other's playstyles thereby making stronger in-game teams.

The Alliance will become more important when DDO Unlimited is released.

Does this mean that all the Alliance have blacklisted Aces Over Kings from all raids and groups as well? Just a question :)

Interesting issue. I love a little drama like anyone else, but no.

Each guild acts on its own as far as policies go, so what one guild does is not the same for other guilds.

As far as Darkside is concerned we have no policies, issues or drama.

What does the Alliance do then??

The Alliance allows for smaller guilds to retain their individual identity as a guild while still being able to experience a larger guild experience via a chat window linking a larger network of players getting to know one another and succesfully completing quests.

Darkside is a drama-free guild which does not get into with the politics and issues that sometimes plague mmo's. Darkside was also built on the concept of "play and let play", meaning, play your guy the way you want to play them, and do not dictate to others how to play.

I would be interested to hear the details of your situation however.

Ah so you just share a channel together but you can only join if your Guild leader agrees that the whole guild is part of the Alliance. Sorry i assumed that as an alliance there would be some reason to unite together in defense of or opposed to something.

More guilds will only make the Alliance that much more successful.

BETTER YET LET'S BE ALLIES!

Greeting Alliance members! The Alliance is growing in leaps and bounds, however it takes all allied guilds working together to insure its success.

Also adding guild-members of affiliated guilds to one's friend's list makes for a stronger Alliance.

As Alliance members let's go out of our way to help one another in our mutual endeavor to conquer quests!

In less than a month the ground will shake, and a new Eberron will appear with a whole new hellish landscape of all new monsters.

A landscape where it would be best to be in the Alliance!

More and more guilds and perhaps most importantly INDIVIDUALS are joining the Alliance, and taking advantage of the growing camraderie in the Alliance.

Groups are filling quicker, players are getting to know each other and each other's playstyles...a comfort level is growing.

New players have joined and now are experiencing a support group of helpful players.

A positive win-win situation.

See you around town!

BUT be sure to stay in touch with fellow-member guilds!

As a Supra-guild, the Alliance could be a useful tool in the future.

Already a certain sense of camraderie is permeating the Alliance, makeing for more fun and successful groups and quests...

29 Alliance members online last night. A new record.

As a reminder, the Alliance is only as effective as its individual members are in concert with one another.

So use it or lose it.

As I think back to one of the previous posts, I think how it is possible for the Alliance to wane in popularity...BUT not if it is utilized.

My Alliance tips include:

I find it best to introduce myself when first signing on, and perhaps give my class and level if I am open to questing.

Addtionally, after inviting any potential guildies, I post on Alliance that I am LFM before actually posting one on the Social pages.

The last thing I do to "strengthen" the Alliance is add members to my Friend's list as their names come-up in the chat window.

While an interesting concept perhaps, given your views on the '5 of 6' theory I am a little concerned that this is merely an effort to increase the number of players you can pike off of...

Worse, if there are no standards/quality controls what is to stop other pikers from joining?

I think he was just messing with you. World of Warcraft is about Alliance vs Horde. Tauren (race of minotaurs, basically) are a member of the latter. Horde joining Alliance just isn't something that happens in their storyline. Nice play on words though.

Anyways, wasn't there an in game channel for this? I know I've seen it mentioned somewhere but I never could find the thing.

Well first of all Donnie....there is no "removing" if you choose not to use the Alliance chat as an additional tool to fill groups...that is fine.

As far as "sporadic" and "unpredicatable" goes I am not sure what you mean...as I tell my fellow guildies "You will get out of the guild/Alliance WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT."

Not sure what you were "expecting" as well...it is a shared chat channel is all it is. It makes for a closer network of players and provides additional opportunity to build stronger bonds with players.

No hard feelings for sure, but what perplexes me are the "its not working so I am gone" sentiment.

Its not about "what we put into it" because we put into it at first and the results were not for us. The alliance went from just a few guilds to, well...pretty much anyone and that's just not what we are looking for. Hey we gave it a shot no harm no foul ;)

Naysayers aside...

The Alliance serves a purpose of providing a big-guild experience to smaller guilds and "rogue" players.

Interesting issue. I love a little drama like anyone else, but no.

Each guild acts on its own as far as policies go, so what one guild does is not the same for other guilds.

As far as Darkside is concerned we have no policies, issues or drama.

Quiet...too quiet...

Alliance chat has been quiet lately, but I wanted to remind all that it is still up and running and still being used by several guilds to fill groups. It seems to be most active on the weekends.

There is still room for any small-guilds or "home-guilds" to join to get that big-guild experience.

Some of my favorite allied guilds of late have included:

Samitra
The Thieves Guild
Noble Fist
Storm Shadow
Royal Bloodline
Eberron Dwarf Tossing League
Warrior's Soul
We Do Not Run Through Dungeons

Just wanted to thank-you all for making the Alliance a success...and fun.

Though I am not the guild leader, after speaking with my guild leader on the matter I have a request.

Remove Eberron Dwarf Tosser League from the Alliance. According to our leader we have not had any interaction with your guild in 8 months so the relationship can already fairly be considered terminated before I got here, and I feel it best for all involved if the thread were updated to accurately reflect this.

I do not feel I am stepping out of bounds by doing this as a mere member of the representive guild because the decision has clearly already been made by the authorities in charge. All I'm doing is bringing it to attention. The message bringer, if you will.

Are you even playing the game yourself squelch.

Second question is why are YOU not using the Alliance.

Additionally, as I have told others who felt the need to disassociate yourself with the Alliance...just don't use this useful tool that aids in filling groups.

Last point is that you are actually wrong, there are still Eberon Dwarf Tossers who DO utilize the Alliance and enjoy questing with the other members.

I find this odd also coming from someone who add asked me to cease in recruiting the un-guilded people to MY guild...

What are your true sentiments and motivation to all this.

Don't want to use the Alliance...Don't.

Just the other night there were members from 10 guilds on...a total of 29 characters to be exact.

SquelchHU

Funny you should mention that. Yes, I did pull you aside and diplomatically explain to you that recruiting everyone under the sun was not a good idea, and that all the people insulting you about it did have a point since even if you care nothing at all for player skill, pulling just anyone in means you have nothing in common which defeats the purpose of a guild anyways. You listened to that and then decided to do the same thing anyways.

Now my guild leader was telling me there is no official relationship. You're giving very recent reports that contradict this. Someone is wrong here, and I am inclined to believe my guild leader as anyone with eyes can tell you are a people collector. Anyone with eyes can also tell that anything that conflicts with that goal is undesirable to you, which is why my diplomatic attempts to stop you from doing as you were had no effect, and the Order of the Silver Dragon's request to be removed were also dismissed by you.

Now I'm still trying to be polite about it, but at the same time these actions and this mindset are making you the laughing stock of much of the server. Surely you do not want something you put so much time and effort in to be viewed so poorly by so many others? Perhaps you do not care what others think of you, but what of all these people you bring in who later experience the rude awakening of being burdened with the same negative reputation, warranted or not? I'll tell you what will happen. They will get annoyed and leave.

And what of those not in the Darkside, that you're saying are associated but aren't? Much the same thing happens, except this time it often is not even their choice. I know my guild leader was very surprised to hear me even mentioning the Darkside, and insistent to know what was up with that and who put me up to it.

Now it makes very little difference to me how you handle this, since one way or the other I'm going to stand on my own merits (or lack thereof). But it makes a good deal of difference to you and yours, so mull it over carefully.

Eh? Sticks & Stones?

Now my guild leader was telling me there is no official relationship.

This is truly unfortunate. I believe you that she said this, sadly however, that the truth of the matter is that the Alliance was originally just your guild...and ours.

anyone with eyes can tell you are a people collector.

I am not sure what you mean by this off-handed insult. Yes, I want people to join...guilty?

Anyone with eyes can also tell that anything that conflicts with that goal is undesirable to you, which is why my diplomatic attempts to stop you from doing as you were had no effect,

Sledgehammer diplomacy?

Now I'm still trying to be polite about it, but at the same time these actions and this mindset are making you the laughing stock of much of the server.

Thanks again for politely saving my character.

Give the man a prize.

the rude awakening of being burdened with the same negative reputation, warranted or not?

I have been hearing such idle threats since March 2006. Actions speak louder than words. The guild and I make friends, and Alliances daily.

Now it makes very little difference to me how you handle this, since one way or the other I'm going to stand on my own merits (or lack thereof). But it makes a good deal of difference to you and yours, so mull it over carefully.

More or your "diplomacy" eh?

Again to reitterate, EDTL was THE original member with us. History can not be unwritten.
I make no excuses on my recruitment method, it is what has got the guild to where it is.

Again, what you see as some diplomatic excursion, I see as a incurison to something that does not concern you.

I am sorry you do not want to use the Alliance because I recruit people...after all I am a people collector.

Oh fun game! I got one, aren't you Michael Scott from "The Office"?

I know its a longshot, but perhaps since making that alliance post 8 months ago the members of EDTL realised that it wasnt what they thought it would be. Chances are, they didnt expect you to turn the alliance channel into LFM pt 2.

You know what would have been really diplomatic? Consulting with other alliance members before accepting additional guilds into the alliance. Also choosing allies with the same recruitment standards, and being upfront about your recruitment methods before accepting allies, would have gone a long way in showing respect for your allies. Maybe you should also have a little more respect for reqests to leave the alliance...although its painfully obvious that you only want to see things one way: your way.

FYI the leader of EBTL told me that they were also done with "The Alliance". I could post the pm here, or hey, you could just pm her yourself instead (crazy idea, I know.)

Of course, some direct communication between you and other alliance members/leaders wouldnt be as entertaining as this thread for non-alliance members, so maybe just keep on keeping on lol.

Sorry Donnie you feel the way you do.

You had left me no choice but to feel-out or guess what the real issues were with you.
Now months later you tell me it was beacuse I took a guild in thatyoudid not approve of. Sorry if you were not consoled on such. Rather than talk to me about any percieved issue you took your ball and went home saying "its not working out" or something.

As far as EDTL, I was sure Squelch was truthful in the fact that EDTL did not WANT to be involved yet they were in the past. Again it could have been helpful to explain what it was that EDTL did not like about the Alliance, but I was not privy to this information.

It is unfortunate that what was supposed to be in fun, and a way to get to know others is somehow being drama-fied. Again, don't use the channel if you feel so inclined.

Perhaps your expectations were too high as to what exactly the Alliance does...perhaps that was just it ..It did nothing for you.

The Alliance is what you make of it. If you use it, you would find that you would have made closer friends with people in other guilds.

It is unfortuante that some individuals were unhappy that the Alliance was not doing anything for them, or that the Alliance accepted another guild that they did not like. Alliance was always about welcoming others and not elitist expectation.

Perhaps I made poor choices in extending a hand of fraternity out to certain guilds.
I will take the blame for not explaining that the Alliance was meant to be drama-free.

The Alliance is still effective. It was originally made for small guilds to feel the fun and camraderie of a larger guild. That is all. It accomplishes that.

Feel free to attempt to turn it into something else.

The Alliance is only as successful as the member-guilds are inconcierto with one another.

It has nothing to do with any specifc guild. It has everything to do with you refusing to recognize that inviting anybody and everybody into the alliance, with zero standards, and without any dialog between you and other alliance members, is not the proper way to to run an alliance. You will find that many people remove themselves from the channel as soon as they realize this. An alliance goes both ways, its a team effort...however in this instance it is YOU doing whatever you want, and everyone else is just supposed to play nice without any control over anything. Its more like a deal with the devil, you provide the option to opt in, but after that their soul belongs to you *evil laugh*

Its no mystery man, people have said this time and time again but you just write it off as drama. The thing is, there isnt any drama, it is what it is. As far as my guild goes, our involvement with the alliance is long forgotten about and nobody cares, but its still a tad painful to see someone be so incredibly dense about this. Btw im not the type of guy who slows down to check out an accident, I get out and help.

Part of being a leader is accepting criticism, and making changes when needed. Perhaps its time to learn by whats happened, instead of arguing with people who wish to leave...which is extrememly poor form. Especially when it involves the guild that you originally started the alliance with. Doesnt that tell you something? ;)

Either way, no worries, I wont be back to derail this thread any further. The only reason I interject is becasue we originally entered the alliance because of EDTL. Take care and good luck.

Well I don't know what the official reason is for wanting to leave, only that my guild leader made that decision 8 months ago, which was before I joined the guild, or even started playing DDO.

I know that my reasons are exactly the ones I have told you a while ago and tried to talk to you about, namely that a guild or alliance that accepts just anyone is non functional because the constituent members have nothing in common. And even if you do not care at all about player skill guilds still need to have something in common, else what is the point? Because of this that entire project has a negative reputation, and anyone involved, even unwittingly is being caught in the crossfire. Donnie has it exactly right.

It's not about some guild involved being bad, it's about not being able to see eye to eye when just anyone is pulled in. It would be like a family friendly guild pulling me in (anyone who has ever ran with me knows why this is a bad idea). Nothing in common.

Now you call this drama, I call it constructive criticism.

I tried to make the Alliance inclusive to many.
I think you thought you were joining a country club, when I was offering a public course.

It is still an effective tool, especially on the weekends and many other guilds have appreciated its design.

Again if sentiments were made clearer to me early on, things could perhaps have been different, rather some decided to not use the channel and not explain why.

I am available most evenings EST to continue the dialog if one would like to discuss anything. I do not expect Squelch to be available however.

The Alliance was meant to be an all-welcoming organization, not an elitist council as you wish it to be gentlemen.

You know people who want to exclude based on guild affiliation are not worth running with in the first place. I have run on some groups with some real jack offs from some of the "acclaimed" guilds (in their minds), and you know what they have some pretty horrible players also or some real jack offs. Those are not the people I choose to run with. Reinforcing the behavior or accepting it is part of the problem.

Most people (99%) are pretty tolerant of others. Its the ones (forum trolls and elitests 1%) who sit in mommies basement all day slurping MT Dew and Ho Ho's that tend to be the worst. Bottom line if you don't like the Alliance don't participate.

I think this is very well said.

However, I guess I totally fall into the category of people that don't generally run with the alliance groups, unless I've already got enough people in the party to carry any amount of dead weight thru the quest.

Sometimes you get a decent player, and sometimes you get a person who has no idea at all what to do, and has no interest in listening to directions.

You can get that exact kind of randomness with an lfm, without bothering to go thru a dedicated chat channel.

Well sometimes you don't know who you will get; however, you may get a vet that has been around for years and who used to run back in AUM with you, Saw, Zack, Happy, Zeff, Asia etc. and who has some experience.

Then again you may get what you said, but I think that can be said of many groups recently.

I know there are many of us who came from small guilds that folded or just did not have enough players on to a guild where we at least could get some more groups going. Like any, time is needed to teach and train.

I want to thank all the members who took the time to say "hello" when they signed-on, and those who made it known that they were either filling a group for a quest, or available to help others in their quests.

The Alliance is only effective when members take the time to do the above things and make it work.

So a heart-felt /SALUTE! to the guilds whose members used the Alliance this weekend!

Thanks for making this channel work members of Amethyst Empire, Chaosknights, Darkside, Noble Fist, Phoenix Marauders, Royal Bloodline, Shortbus Heroes, Storm Shadow, The Thieves Guild, Warrior's Soul, We Do Not Run Through Dungeons, and our un-guilded members and any others I may have forgot.

I've been lax in replying to this thread, my apologies.

Regarding some confusion about being "part" of this guild alliance.
It's basically two things:
1. A shared chat channel that provides an extra resource to fill out a party.
2. A way to shoot the breeze during downtime with like-minded folks, outside the general channel.
No secret handshakes, no ninja assassins sent after "those that try to leave". Rather than a membership, the channel is like a radio station. It's an option only, and no one will be dis-included from groups if they choose not to.

Royal Bloodline came from the ashes of the old Bloodline Dynasty, and we've been keeping it in-house a lot while our newer members learn the raids and cement their status. Once that's set, we'll be using the channel for the last slot or two.

If the alliance suits you, very good; if not, also good. Enjoy your gaming your way.

We have a good base of classes now but i'm thinking a push for more availability would be good for the alliance. So if you need a rogue, we can try to be there for you most of the time. Expect some changes in the next 2-4 weeks....

I can say with a lot of certainty.. That although there may be a few members of chaosknights in the alliance channel, that the guild as a whole is in no way, shape, or form associated with the alliance.

Well, other than(on occasion) a source of general amusement in guild chat.

Game down or something?

Yes there is no formal association between the Chaosknights (My second favorite guild-name on server btw) with the Alliance (I will not post their name in "Alliance Blue" next time!), but a couple of players from that guild have utilized it is all, and have found Darkside to be as fun as we claim.

I would like to consider a prominent member of Chaosknights a friend. He is a young member who may remember my original trinity of toons: Stripe Elven Rogue, Ornbear Human Barbarian, & Richtorson Human Cleric.

Perhaps jozz summed it up best; the channel is just for fun and to help filling those last spots with friends of yours.

Sad to say, I'm the only one left out of all those guys :( I miss em... Glad someone thinks i know what am doing around here, (hehe) it really depends on how much i've had to drink, weather i'll get lost or not lol :D

That' s why it is there, and many of us try to maintain and use the channel to keep it going.

Darkside is having its monthly Full-Moon Party Thursday September 23 at 7pm EST in conjunction with the holiday of Mabon.

The festivities will begin on Darkside's Airship with a Roster Purge and a salute to members no-longer with us.

The party will continue at Darkside's original guild house atop of House Deneith at House Deneith proper, here promotions will be announced with the accompanying ceremony.

From House Deneith we will head to the official Darkside watering-hole The Phoinex. Here at the tavern PvP will begin in various forms.

Other possible events include Seek! and trivia.

Prizes include some vorpals from the Emperor himself, who will make an appearance.

Darkside members are expected to equip chaos/anarchic weapons while attending.

As Darkside nears its 4 year anniversary, we will celebrate our first Full Moon Party of the year, TONIGHT!

The party will start at 7pmEST with members of the Darkside Guard and our allies from the Alliance meeting on the Darkside ship.

The Emperor himself, Lord Sicarii Darkhour, will be in attendance if you desired to meet him or other guild members.

The event will continue atop of the old Darkside Headquarters, House Deneith.
At House Deneith we will induct new members into our fold, and promote others to the Senior Officer position: Lord of the Council. Chaos & Anarchic weapons are recomended for this event, to show solidarity with our guild.

After House Deneith refreshments will be served at the Phoenix Tavern.

Quests and or a raid will wrap-up our first Full Moon Party of 2011.

Mr_Ed7, is there any chance that you'd be [interested in/willing to] change the original post in this thread to update it with the current list of guilds that are official members of this guild alliance?

Mr_Ed7
02-25-2011, 01:52 PM
I am not entirely sure anymore who our "official" members are. There are some "official" guilds and then their are some members of other guilds who like to "slum" it now and then and utilize the channel.

I have seen all types of people on the channel, yes including guilds with "Noble" or "Elite" in their names.

Please recall that this channel was created as a channel for smaller guilds to take part in the "big guild" feel. Nothing more nothing less.

Now that we are entering are 2nd year, the number of small "family" and "guilds of one" have grown.

Perhaps this channel's best strength was NOT linking people that already knew each other, but rather STRENGTHENING bonds of those that just met.

This is far from and elite, raid channel. It is meant for casual players and guilds who want to make friends.

Like anything else in life, you are going to experience personality types you do not care for. Do not play with them and squelch them if you have too.

Darkside's Monthly Full Moon Party is a SUPER MOON, that is the moon has not been this close to the Earth since 1993.

Tonight c. 7pm EST Darkside members will meet on-board the Emperor's Yacht for hordevoures and cocktails.

Dress is formal with Chaos, Anrachic and Force weapons in tow.

May I recomend the Darkside Shot (1 part Jaegarmeister 1 part Chambord 1 part Cranberry).

The party will continue at the Old Darkside Headquarters atop House Deneith for a promotion ceremony.

The monthly festivities conclude with PvP and Capture the Flag at the Phoenix Tavern.

You may then return to your regularly scheduled quests.

Hope to see you there!

I still use this and chat with others, or jump in when they are doing something i am interested in. If you don't like this, then don't join. Its that simple. The negative comments are funny to me. Who cares how long a dungeon takes. If your having fun its good if your not then its not. I have had a blast in raids where we have wiped for stupid reasons, and been bored sh**less in ones that have gone perfect.

not everyone plays the way you, or I want to play. The more options the better. I solo a lot, i pug low levels, I love to grind out 5000 kills in the Orchard, 10k kills in Vale. So this isn't your play-style. Oh well.

Hope all is going good in the alliance :).

Good concept.... let see how long it lasts.

During the month of April the Alliance and its member-guilds will be celebrating The two year anniversary of the Alliance of Guilds Chat Channel!

The Alliance channel was born out of a dream that little family guilds and guilds of one could experience the feeling of a friendly larger guild. The Alliance was not created as a place just for people who knew each other, rather as a place where people could make friends.

If you are an Alliance member Guild Leader or Officer, be sure to mention April is Alliance month in your MotD and encourage your other guildies to utilize the channel.
Be sure to check with the channel first before posting an LFM or mention it in chat as soon as you do.

I also like to add users to my friend's list.

A thank-you to all the guilds, players & guild leaders that make this channel possible.
See you around town.

The Alliance will become more important when DDO Unlimited is released.

Separate you and your guild from the masses by joining the Alliance.

The Alliance is:

Darkside~Eberon Dwarf Tossing League~The Swamp Foxes~Berry Goddess Inn
Order of the Silver Dragons~The Peacemakers~Bloodline Dynasty

I know many people talk down on this, or think they are to good for it. I hear things, i see things, and if you go back and read some of the responses in the thread, you will see what i mean.

I have been apart of this game from Beta off and on. I have been in the ultra uber killed the dragon 4th fastest in DDO, Been there done that. Now i play to have fun, chat with my friends in the game, and progress as fast or slow as i feel like. I got my first 20 less then 3 months ago. I am in no rush, Not like any new content is going to be added soon.

The Alliance is as good as people make it. The more in it the better. (right now i can't be in game for personal reasons, or i would most likely be bugging people to do vale slayers on my 19 rogue. )

Can't say i've seen any such activity from any of us either. And can't say i've had enough experience with AOK to make any judgements either.

As mr ed said, even tho we all use the channel, we can't expect all of us to have the same opinions, reactions, or morality than other alliance members.

If you are guild master of AOK then I would address it with the guild officer or guild leader of whatever guild was acting up towards your members. That would probably be the best diplomatic approach. As far as some sort of Alliance conspiracy against AOK, i'm not aware of any. I don't think he could have a conspiracy towards anything even if we tried. :D

This is Turi, leader of The Thieves Guild.

First i'm going to re-fresh this thread, since it has seem to have died.

Second, since there are plenty of great people, great players, and great guilds that use the Alliance system, I thought i'd see what I can do to try to revive this forum and toss some ideas around.

I have an idea.....since the forum has sorta died, we could try to get sort of a "meeting of the minds" with the alliance guild leaders and come up some ways to help each other. Namely:

Perhaps tune our raid nights closer together, trade officer and contact information (so we can reach each other's leadership if needed), and perhaps take requests for certain items, or requests for weird quest chains like Threnal, Restless Isles, to name a few.

And maybe schedule some sort of council of the leaders/officers every now and then to discuss politics or other new ideas.

What do you guys think?

So i'll leave this up for a bit, see if anyone shows any vested interest in this and go from there. And believe me, i'm BUSY enough as it is, so whatever happens, it will be very relaxed (not time consuming), but I do think it would be beneficial to all of us, including our members.

Since its been a while since anyone has done a count on participating guilds, feel free to chime in on that subject too. :)

Thanks all, have fun! (but not too much fun, you might pull something, a lot of us leaders are old an decrepit)

Ok I got a couple responses. So how bout we pick a weekend (i'm assuming that would be the best days of the week) in the few weeks to meet up and discuss whatever is on our mind. I doubt it would take longer than 15-30mins.

Bring whomever you like and we could gather where-ever. Doesn't matter to me.

I would think one of the best topics would be to try to arrange some good raid days and times.

This way we can not only try to keep the alliance chat in play but also some others might see it's value.

There should be an assembly of a committee of foreign delegates representing the same guilds at a time reasonable for europlayers to get to, with possibly a sub committee for cake, where we can get also try to syncrhonise our various activities, take minutes and watch a powerpoint presentation on the value of not dumpstatting Con and brainstorm ways to buff ranged combat, share questing knowledge and plan loot runs, and plot the overthrow of our wicked guild leaders.

Er... did I say that last bit out loud?

Just let me know the date T, if its not at a convenient time for euros, I'll happily try to host something at a more reasonable hour.

Agreed.

Well it's been another week, and any more responses would be more than appreciated.

So for this coming week, please let us know if you can partake on this coming weekend. This coming weekend would be the dates of Sept. 16-18. From experience I think that Saturday would be best....perhaps in mid-afternoon, sometime around 3-4pm EST. Around 3pm, i'll start yapping about a bunch of non-understandable blabber in Alliance Chat, and after about 45 minutes of that, we'll form up in a defined location and have a meeting of the MINDS (please no idiots, we don't want to get puke on our clothes). As i've mentioned before; officers (or assigned diplomats) from guilds are acceptable, if you'd like to bring someone from you guild with you, that's fine also, other than that; preferably leaders, or close to it (successors).

Possible issues for discussion:

1: Available joint raid times, and if so, what raids and what times
-1.5: Refresh of how to use alliance chat and exchange of "business cards" if needed.
2: Resources: Any guild that may need something or is willing to trade off something, etc
3: Politics: any guild that should be avoided, or encouraged, etc
4: Break for milk and cookies....(and shots of whiskey in the milk)
5: Any warnings about guilds, and other politics.
6: Any other agreement or arrangements involving boats, or x-communications of certain "bad apples".

And as i've mentioned before, anything else you guys can think of, or any other guilds that would be happy to partake please post up on this forum. POST! If you don't, were going to think your lazy :p

Sooooo...lets try to shoot for next weekend, saturday or sunday preferably. If I don't get any requests on what time is best, i'm just going to stick to Saturday at 4pm EST. And please chime in on any other details including requests, subjects of conversation, questions, the solution to the universe (which btw, is 42), etc.

I want to keep this as wide open and relaxed as possible. It should only help us, not hurt. Open mind, open spirit.

(makes it 8-9pm over in the UK I think, 9-10pm CET)

Ok, well, in the absence of someone well known like Turinde (internet down, two day fix. I suspect he's not a happy bunny), the meeting more or less didn't happen.

Thanks very much for Married With Children for sending along representation in the form of Madizm, thanks Darksiders for at least saying you were mid quest and therefore unavailable!

The other 7 people lurking in Alliance chat who spoke not at all though - bad form! Apologies accepted in Large Ingredient form only :)

So for the MWC/Thieves Guild meeting, we discussed the following:

Raid times:

We both have a fairly significant euro contingent. MWC's euros seem awfully dedicated though - managing to stay awake to start raids at 11pm-midnight? Really? Good for you!

MWC raid times are Weds & Sat at 7pm EST, usually filled entirely from guild (I'm so jealous, but on the whole we Thieves like our guild fairly small and close knit so them's the breaks)
Thieves Guild raid times are Tuesday at 4pm EST and 9-10pm EST.

That TG 4pm slot is pretty much for the Euro contingent, though we often get those US-side joining in too.
We also have 'raid-light' on a Friday at 4pm EST ish, which us TG euros use for running raids if we feel like it, or trying to hit whole quest chains, do loot runs and so forth. Alliance members more than welcome to join us for that, we dont' usually put up an LFM, but often short man - we'll try to make a point of posting in Alliance if we're forming up.

Guild ships/resource sharing
There wasn't a lot to talk about here, but TG and MWC are reasonably close to each other in level, (56 and 63 respectively) - MWC have the +2 stat and +30 resist shrines... so you may find thieves guild members trying to sneak aboard - secure the valuables!

Politics

Politics, we doesn't has it. MWC are too nice, TG focus on Bluff rather than Diplomacy. This topic was therefore doomed to go nowhere :)

If any alliance members have any politics they want to share, we're all ears :)

What now?

We are going to try to reschedule this for another time. We'll try to keep this thread active, and post stuff in Alliance at least once a day, once we have a target date.

Dunkle and the rest,

Thanks guys! And yes I wish I could have made it, but had to get an internet situation resolved. I see that we got a great start so thanks to you guys!

Since we got a good platform to start with, we'll expand and try to get who we can involved as we push forward. For now, lets see how the migration of raid schedules works out for a couple of weeks and then after that, we'll try to do another meeting and see if we can make any other adjustments and bring in some more representatives!

Once again, sorry I missed out. I'm happy a few delegates from our guild and other guilds were able to represent our interests.

Also, please don't be afraid to encourage your fellow guild members to use the alliance chat system so we can fulfill these raid times and dates.

Oh, one last thing, I believe Tsorte brought up the issues of timezones. If any of the guilds out there have euro players that usually play during the CEST (Central European Standard Time) please feel free to get a hold of euro's like Dunkle, Ekei, or just speak up on alliance chat. If your euro, your not alone, and I try to accommodate as much as possible with your futuristic time zone. It's nice to know that if the world is going to end you'll give us 6 hours notice. :D

Thanks guys, i'll keep ya posted and see ya on TAC (The Alliance Chat, *gives myself high five for coining the abbreviation*).

Its not the big raid many of you like to do, BUT...

I have been running SUNDAY MORNING SPEED SLAYERS at 9:30AM-11:39AM EST.

The instances are ran for no more than 20 minutes a piece, and then I hit a guild beacon and head to the ship, and then its off to the next area.

I have been trying to level my 50-50 Fighter-Cleric Level (17), the Dwarf Morlock Sixfinger.

Let me know if I should save a spot for ya!

Well I'm trying to get a Tuesday Thieves Guild Eurotime raid night going again, which will obviously run Shroud by default if there's nothing else folks want to do/are flagged for/want to get flagged for.

But it's not confirmed yet. In the absence of that, Fridays 9pm GMT (4pm EST) is generally when I start trying to jolly people along...

Ok good to know.... I wish we all just did GMT it would probably be easier... but inlieu of that... What time is your Tuesday Raid... 4pm as well?

How is Turind... I have not heard from him in awhile?

Thanks for gett'n back to me!

Currently the Darkside schedule is as such.

SUNDAY MORNING (EST) SPEED-SLAY level 10-19 w/ESCORPIUS (Sicarii)
Saturday-Wednesday night EST level 3-6, mostly TR's w/MRSHARPE
Thursday SHROUD level 17- 8:30pm EST w/MRSHARPE
Friday Night level 11-14 w/STORMWIELDER (Mrsharpe)

MRSHAPRE prefers to run quests on ELITE, at level.
For example the Sat-Wed group are currently running level 4 quests on elite, so level 6 quests.

yep, same time, and eurotrash "raid" night (which is also raid flagging night if need be) is now officially tuesdays at 9pm GMT. We're trying to flag and get boot ingredients for ToD atm. We get maybe 2 quests done each time, because none of us seem to know amrath, so it's all a bit slow and steady while we figure it out. Usually 4 or 5 in the group, so always a slot for another, and clearly when we actually raid, that means we still have half a raid to fill.

Alliance preferred over PuGs, but if it's something we know well (shroud, Chrono, VoN basically) we generally put the LFM up at the same time as putting something in alliance and first come first serve it provided we've got the main raid roles mostly covered. But for raids we haven't done before (ToD, MA, LoB), we'll be looking for a leader, not a pug :)

I'm alive, but not quite as well.

TBH, i'm still spending a lot of time GM'ing for another MMO. But I try to stick my head in and do what I can. I manage to keep up more on the forums and guild web page than being in game. Lately when I log in, there seems to be little LFMs and I have trouble with waiting for something to form. Not to mention an escalation with my personal life (trying to date, work, and take care of the family business), but i'm still here. :)

TAKE FLIGHT with the ALLIANCE!

The ALLIANCE of GUILDS will be celebrating its 5 years anniversary soon, and to celebrate this we have invited two new GUILDS to join us.

UNSEEN KINGS & DEMON HUNTER

Also look for DARKSIDE'S new RAID OFFICER: HUSHEDO who will be playing a key-role in grouping these GUILDS together!

Join your allies in DARKSIDE as they celebrate the first full moon of 2013!

Event starts upon the guild airship, followed by an initiation ceremony & promotion ceremony atop House Deneith.

Drinks to be served at the PHOENIX TAVERN.
Darksiders tend to throw them back and get rowdy, so there will probably be some PVP and Capture the Flag.

Hi Mr_Ed7,

I write in order to ask if it would be possible to join the Alliance chat channel individually, without my guild joining it. I suppose it is quite irregular... but let me explain the situation.

As you probably have already noticed, I am not native in english language. I am spanish, and I am in the Huitzilopochtli Heirs guild, which is for spanish-speaking people (both from Spain and any country in America). People in this guild join it because they want to play with other people speaking/writing in spanish, of course. We are about 10 active players and some occasional ones, but the only thing in common is the language, so it is difficult to find a group in similar situations for many quests, specially raids. Just to make yourself an idea, there are 2 completionists, some other have not reached level 20, and some others are in between, like myself (1 TR toon, other one in level 25 first life).

We rarely run raids in the guild. Maybe you can find 4 people flagged playing at the same time, so pug would be a good option for our guild... but no one wants to put the lfm in the social channel. The reason is that no one thinks that can give the explanations in english, or follow the explanations in english of other people. So those who want to play raids look for them in pugs from other people, like I do. However, it is difficult to find pugs for many raids, and many of those few pugs that appear finish in wipe if it is an end-game raid (CitW or FoT at the moment) or if playing any diff harder than "normal".

That is why I would like to find people to play raids with (or other quests) from time to time (maybe twice a week, who knows), but I also want to stay in my guild and play in my native language the rest of the time. My whole guild would not join the Alliance channel, because many of them dont want to play in english.

That is the situation. By the way, I speak/listen english worse than I write/read. For instance, I usually dont get jokes in pugs, because I am not familiar at all with colloquial expressions. However, my english is enough to get expressions like "get out of there" or "do not touch that".

If your answer is "sorry, only guilds" there is no problem, but I wanted to try.

See you in game,

Phylantrios / Spellburst / Toikos

The ALLIANCE channel is as active as we make it.
It is not a RAID channel, but rather a place where friends and friends of friends can link up and fill spots for groups.
Admittedly, my playtime is not what it used to be and my guild runs with fellow guildies mostly.

This is not an EXCLUSIVE channel and is meant to build connections as well as to further already established relationships.
