now now, i appreciate the support from both of you however it is not something they are obligated to do. just seems that seventeen thousand votes FOR a developer might show that they have very loyal player base, and should re-connect with them at least from the stand point of the one calling the shots of one of the games.

Well done voters! Goes to show we'll do almost anything to get some DDO publicity!

so you're suggesting the players revolt and starting doing the marketing and advertising for DDO and challenge Atari head on?

I LIKE THE SOUND OF THAT!

Congrats Turbine.

I have to say somehow you mobilized the masses and made it through, but with no vote from me.

First off, I enjoy and regularly play Bioware games (mostly NWN) so this would have been a tough call for me.

The main reason I did not vote was last night while running the Shroud. Lag. I know this may sound petty, but the lag we all face at random times is simply ludicrous. We have had many promises to fix this and that, but most often it does not get done. The most obvious is lag. Others are features that LoTRO has but have never been ported into DDO, such as a searchable auction house.

Now I fully realize that developer time is a valuable resource that needs to be focused on what is best for the game. I don't expect wishes such as auction house improvements or new character animations to be added when core functionality need to be expanded or fixed. This is why the lag monster really ticks me off. We hear lost of promises, but after much patience on the part of the user base, it is still around.

So in the end, I still like DDO and its community enough to not cancel the account. But like a the good food at the diner with lackluster services, I just don't care enough to vote for you. My company often pushes us to do better with customer service. The most 'dangerous' zone for a customer to reside is the zone of indifference. You can make great strides in regards to bad experiences. If you can maintain users that love you, you can be forgiven you much. In the zone of indifference, people just don't care. That is where I am for DDO. I like, but if it shuts down tomorrow, eh, I'll find something else to waste my time and money on.

Congradulations to the Turbine Staff for this win! And while at times the implementation of DDO has it's flaws :D. Overall, you've created a great game, stepping out in front of all theother MMO's and their McDonald's style games! :)

Great Job!

Congrats Turbine and good show to those who went over to escapist and not only voted but contributed a lot of positive information reguardless of how we were being treated.

Now hopefully turbine sees that we are loyal and that we are more than happy to do some promoting to see some growth, however I also hope that in seeing that they will remember that we exist and give us some solid answers on where DDO is headed and what we should be looking toward.

I fear for the state of this game and I'm hoping that something good is on the horizon.

I tried to get an answer from Escapist w/no success . . . so maybe someone here knows: will they ever put the contest results on the Escapist front page or maybe write an article. This was buried as soon as it was done.

Why should Turbine give us more information? Why should the fix the lag? Why should they give us more than 4 quests, a raid, and an explorer area? It is apparent that we just love the treatment we are getting, right? After all Turbine is the super bestest game developers for a second year running; they are doing pretty AOK, right?

They must be giving us what we truly want rather than what we claim we want.

<overheard at Turbine's bi-weekly development meeting> "Pahsaw, threads upon threads of "FIX LAG". It must not be that bad, after all we are the best developer again. Who rocks?!? We do!!! We do!!! It's probably isolated to a couple of out of date computers on the players end. Who cares about them?" "Threads of boredom? Heck we add quests twice a year, that's enough. Hey, I bet we can get away with only adding new quests just one this year and you know what? They will still vote for us next year!!! Who rocks?!? We do!!! We do!!!"</end fly on the wall status>

that other thread linked already commented there, Turbine has an open forum discussion on Ten-Ton Hammer (but next time, how about doing something FROM Turbine NOT a Third Party?)

That's about all the time I have....see that beforementioned thread to see why.
