The pvp changes, and the many requests by some of the posters to have it turned off by default, gave me an idea.

How about adding one more character creation screen that allowed you to set up all the basic options in the UI option screen for things like, pvp on/off, hints on/off, use mic on/off, accept trades, set class loot etc.

Put a detailed descrition for each so that new players can understand what setting them means and what the ramifications of each settings are.

I think this could be a great help to newbies, by helping them avoid some of the pitfalls of certain settings, and help vets quickly get their usual setup in place.

Great idea! I don't know if I would enable the option to turn off hints if it is your first toon though. I think that a little forced-hand-holding isn't bad in that case.

true but for a vet those hints are annoying

Good idea. Oh, and while you're at it revisit that silly melee/spellcaster/specialist division. It makes no sense at all.

Agreed Borror0. Better to use the standard MMO archetypes: Tank, Damage Dealer, Healer, Controller, Support

Not only that.

Looking at the distribution:

Warchanters are melee, not specialists.
Tempest rangers are melee, not specialists.
Spellsinges are casters, not specialists.
Warpriest of Siberys is also a melee, not only a spellcaster.

The selection screen could use a lot of help in that aspect.

Something between the two would make some sense.

The way to do it would to have a

Choose You Creation Method

MMO Archetype to Path
Custom Configuration

Don't include all of the Paths for one class together. It's confusing, and more logical to group them by archetype, regardless of class.

Totally agree but I lean more toward a Melee DPS, Ranged DPS (lol), Spellcasting, Healing and Tanking.
