Im new to DDO realm, which I wonder how powerful CC with named boss, usefulness, and resistance. I used to be coercer in EQ2 and really hated it since not really CC, more dot focus player base, that's SoE grins. Anyway I come here to create excellent CC role player. Please let me know about CC ability in DDO.

It's really cool to have building my own character specializes. I decide to build hybrid Necro/Wiz/Enchanter to balance the ability usefulness of course :-P Which spell is consider "must have" to be a solid Crowd Control in group/raiding.

Necro is not a good choice, and cc does not work on red nameds, for the most part.

Spells you should have, cc-wise, are mostly higher lvl, but include:

web, ottos spehere of dancing, solid/acid fog, cloudkill (not rly cc, but you should get it), symbol of stunning, ottos irresistable dance (eventually), hold monster, mass suggestion, and thats about it.

CC is usefull if you know when and how to use it. Lower levels I like spells like Web, Solid Fog, Glitterdust, Halt Undead and Ghoul Touch. These are still effective at higher levels if you have the right equipment/feats behind them (items that increase the dc of the spell and spell penetration/focus feats). Once you get up there in levels you've got spells like Acid Fog, Otto's Sphere of Dancing and Mass Suggestion to play with. Like I said, knowing when and where to use them determines whether or not they're effective.

A Necromancer can be alot of fun to play if you do it right. I have a Human Necromancer leveled to 8 right now and I have a blast playing him. Effective and fun...I wouldn't call that a bad choice.

I'm a fellow eq2 player. I know the game really well.

I'd suggest that you start with a wizard and play around with the spells to get a feel for all types of casting. DDO doesn't have 24 classes who are all forced into a specific role within a group. A wizard might end up focusing in enchantment spells, but you'll still be able to swap in any other spell that better suits the occasion.

A hybrid Necro/Wiz/Enchanter, is really just a wizard with a mixture of spells from necromancy and enchantment spell schools.

Red names are immune to most abilities that take them completely out of the battle, many enchantment spells do this. Most debuffs that don't really shut down the mob still work. A lot of those debuffs are necromancy spells like ray of enfeeblement and bestow curse.

There are 3 types of named monsters in DDO, Orange have few if any immunities, Red and Purple have lots of immunities, but those immunities are required because this is a very very different game than EQ2. The combat is quicker, and nothing lasts as long (including yourself if you're caught by suprise).

Personally - Necro is an awesome choice. Ray of Enfeeblement, Ray of Exhaustion, Symbol of Pain, Curse - all work on almost everything - red and purple names included. -15 to Arretrikos' to hit rolls already.

Not to mention Fear. Chill Touch is pretty handy, Control Undead is very cool and as a fully necro specialised sorc, I can actually use Create Undead without them breaking - shame they're still ****.

And there's something to be said for non Heightened DC34 Finger of Deaths.

That said - if you plan on running Heighten Spell Feat - you may not want to specialise at all and just go for extra Spell Points and run Heighten permanently. Heighten does work extremely well with Web and Cloudkill, so you might well want to think strongly about taking it.

Generally CC spels do not work on rednamed. At least nothing that would incapacitate them does.

But they work great on most other monsters.....although at end game the saves are extremely high, and many have SR as well.
(Then there are those Frost Giants.....but some CC works on them too....more than most people know infact.)
