Ok i've got my NOOB Hat on now..but ive been thinking..what does the following spell school Items actually do!?

Divination (http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Category:Divination_Spells)
Enchantment (http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Category:Enchantment_Spells)
Evocation (http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Category:Evocation_Spells)
Illusion (http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Category:Illusion_Spells)
Necromancy (http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Category:Necromancy_Spells)
Transmutation (http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Category:Transmutation_Spells)

When using the Items (such as my Abjuration dagger which provides a +1 on all Abjuration spells)

Im assuming it increases the chance of landing the spell...but what about buff spells..what use are they then..as there is no spell check on buffing someone?

Spell school items add +1 to the DC of spells of that school. This +1 is of type 'item' and will therefore stack with feats, but not other items. The 'spell school' bonus therefore really only affects spells that require targets to make saves, and has no known effect at all on buffing spells.

More simply: Using an item with 'Evocation' on it will increase the required reflex save of your fireball by 1 point. If you cast an 'Evocation' buff spell on a party member, there is no effect.
