A weekly look at what's happening around the forums! Tips, community spotlights, Turbine info, and more!

Letter from the Editors

As you know, we're celebrating DDO's third anniversary. We couldn't be happier or prouder that this game we love has continued to grow and thrive these last three years. Obviously, none of it would be possible without you, our Community. Thank you all for driving us to make DDO bigger and better, for your enthusiasm, and for your unyielding support. We're excited for the future, and we hope you are too. Happy anniversary DDO! This weekend's forecast: Sunny with a 5% chance of ham (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tasty-Ham/50539772041). So good luck with your adventures, enjoy the bonus XP, and have a great weekend!

- The DDD Community Team

These players have gone above and beyond the call with a great contribution to the community!

Due to the increasing amount of threads that fall into the "sheer awesome" category, we've created a new forum: Hall of Fame! When a thread achieves a certain level of uberness (this can come from a combination of thread views, replies, ratings, fun density, planetary alignment, and chewing gum), rather than stickying it or letting it get claimed by the dustbin of history, we will move it to the DDO Forums Hall of Fame (http://forums.ddo.com/forumdisplay.php?f=169) and dub the creator with a Hall of Famer title on the forums.

Congratulations to our Hall of Famers: Clankenbeard (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=31106), Cupcake (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=22523), DoctorWhoFan (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=32330), Aranticus (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=31176), Yagmoth (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=138215), Borrigain (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=35974), Impaqt (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=34443), geoffhanna (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=32915), and BigBadBarry (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=33387)!

About The Guild: As a founding guild, the Lightbringers are celebrating our three year anniversary! I’ve had a blast playing DDO for the last three years, but it wouldn’t be the same without all my guildies who really make my playtime enjoyable.

The Lightbringers is a founding guild, who have always been about having fun. Above anything else, we are a casual guild who works to help our membership experience all the game has to offer. We run scheduled raids twice a week rotating through all of the raids, we support static groups, and run other guild events; participation is completely optional for any of these activities. We don’t have many set rules, and we encourage members to have their family and friends invited to the guild. We help our guild members with groups, experience, and items, to make sure everyone is getting the most out of their gaming experience.

Over 500 guilds have pages in the Compendium guild listings (http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Category:Guild_and_Character_listings_by_server), and yours can too! Try a template (http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Category:Guild_Page_Templates) today!

In a world where threads are tasty and posts are food, one Cube has chosen a question.
Now he's looking for answers...

This Week's Question, Tolero (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=100240) asks:
DDO will be celebrating its three year anniversary! What is one thing in DDO that has changed since launch that you're happy about?

The Cube has not been satisfied with the answers submitted so far. In honor of the anniversary, The Cube has decided to extend this week's answer gathering rather than fangoriously devouring you all.
- Your friend, The Cube

One thing about the definition of founder, Tarrant. The forum title required both signing up to the game in headstart and the forum by the end of March 2006. With respect to the founders fountain, you needed to be in a guild with more than 15 members to be in the founders fountain.

I've been on since Pre Release and I'm not a Founder. Founders are those who participated in Beta Testing I think.

Winded Walrus?

*goes and look*

Tarrant, would you please only post builds that can actually be done in the game? Not someone's PnP fantasy?

Lol, I've been here since beta and still no founder status....mostly because I didn't sign up on forums for about 2-3 weeks after game went live, silly me :)
and didn't get into a decent guild for about the same time...although I got many offers, I chose to stay guildless for a while til I found a good group to run with. Still run with a lot of those same people as well. Anywho, enjoy the xp and loot all, and Happy Birthday DDO!!!

Saal :)

I think the best Founder story goes out to Cowdenicus. His join date was February 2006 but he didn't have his Founder title. He begged a lot for it and complained about it like... all the time. He got it at some point last year, finally.

It would appear that the author of the DDO dictionary doesn't know what a founder is...

DDO will be celebrating its three year anniversary! What is one thing in DDO that has changed since launch that you're happy about?

Parties do not necessarily need specific classes or even clerics now. It so much easier to have good survivability without a cleric.

Rangers are more useful addition to the party now, back at launch there were a lot of people playing rangers but rangers had hard time getting groups because people viewed them as fluff. They were easily killed because they did not have the hitpoints, armor class or the damage put out. People just prefer having another class over a ranger, because usually those classes had an extra ability or toughness that made them more needed. Rangers had Barkskin...but so did potion shop. :D (http://www.ddo.com/article/967)

Now monk is the new fluff, but they did not have it as bad as rangers did at launch date :(

Another change since launch is: there is a lot more ladies online, more then most would speculate

I'm outright ASHAMED at the new Ranger capstone.

Kinda makes the rest of the newsletter pale by comparison to me....oh yeah, those other errors about founders and walruses and stuff, and the cube ignoring our outright DEVOTION to it, so what?

Yeah we didn't want to confuse newbies with the deep nitty gritty details about who bought which what when by what day here but not there but... etc. Besides, I've heard of a mystical Fey called the Founders Fairy. This creature is said to go from place to place on the forums fixing broken Founders titles when it can verify the proper details

Any chance I can get added to the Founders list? I've been here since March 2 or 3 of '06.............

Thx in advance,

Incorrect. If you registered with the DDO.com Forums by the end of March 20006 then you were eligible for the Founder Title hereo nthe Forums with access to the Founder Forum avatars. Unfortunately there are plenty of people here who participated in head start but did not join the fourms until sometime after March.
