Let's talk about dogs and vermin for a minute.

What is wrong with these things? They take off running away from you. They stand around licking the walls. Very bad AI with these things.

Example - Go run Information is Key by yourself.

When you get to the hallway where dude releases two mithril defenders, go ahead and smash one. Now, go hunting for the other one - odds are it's about 300 yards away on the other side of the instance map.

Can this not be addressed? How did this break?

I'm not complaining, I'm informing.

Observed this annoying behaviour, too.

its like they have the archer and caster AI where they run up to you and then run away, but instead of returning fire etc, they just keep running away.

This is new as of the last patch/downtime, not sure which. But this was definitely never a problem a month ago.

Yes it was. This change went in mod 7ish.

I've had those mith. defenders in info. is key run away the entire length of the quest before. Highly annoying.

Negative.

Dunno when it broke but it was before this patch.

Oh yes it was.

I mean heck, PARVO noticed it and was posting about it a few times. (when he wasn't busy spamming the forums to try his brand of roleplaying style ddo)

(And yes, I know that those particular permadeathers don't like being referred to as "roleplayers") :D

I find it funny when 5 people on my party are chasing dogs, i just sit back and enjoy the show.

btw, this affects ALL constructs as well as animals (never seen it with vermin)....not just the defenders...

It is best when they all run into a trap and die

I could deal with the dogs running all over creation....if only they didn't do it while hypnotized (or otherwise "immobilized") :P

Actually it was. It was Mod 7 that broke dogs. They've been finicky ever since. It applies to cats sometimes too.

I just noticed this behavior this past weekend when soloing it with my new Barb. I know he is a pretty intimidating specimen, but not so intimidating that both stupid dogs should run to the opposite end of the quest. I went into areas of the quest I've never even been to until then. The stupid dogs only stopped when they ran into a wall. It was amusing but frustrating at the same time.

yes, this has been highly amusing/annoying (depending on if you're watching/chasing) since mod 7

Indeed.

Worgs/Wolves/Dogs have been going coward for quite some time now, and chasing them is useless, since their Hitbox is 2x their body length away from their running body's graphics, and stationary when they stop(making it EXTREMELY ANNOYING to chase and attack).... so I just let them run off into the abyss and flip them the bird every time, sometimes dropping a complementary f-bomb as well.

Vermin have apparently been given similar AI, apparently to change the Permanent Burrowing of those )@*(#!&$ Scorpions. Unfortunately, it makes them just as idiotic and confusing as the @)(* dogs.
