Congratulations to Morgel for the winning entry in this week's DirectX 10 Screenshot Contest! Check out that crystal clear reflection in the water! Almost makes you thirsty, until you think about Stormreach's plumbing system. Thanks for your entries, all- there were a lot of great options to choose from! Remember, there's still time to get in the contest for Week 2, as we'll be accepting entries until Monday.

Is it possible to get those submitting, or at least winning, to give a brief description of the machines they're playing DDO in DX10 on? :)

I am willing to bet there's a lot of players out there who would just LOVE to get the most out of DDO but due to the bad flavor of those who attempted an early adoption of Vista they've signed off on it. For example, most blogs claim you need 4gb of ram for Vista let alone for gaming in dx10, but obviously this isn't true since there's some users here in our forums who are getting 160fps with only 2gb of ram in dx10!

Can we see all the entries rather than juss the winnah?

Winner(s), eh?

No offense to whoever that image belongs to, but whether through compression during upload or just low res textures, that shot looks badly blurred and aliased.

I think the reason its blurred is to get ya to click on it.
Click on the pic and you'll see what it actually looks like.

I'm sure he means the full-size image.. which has a lot of jpeg-lossy looking artifacts in it.

The thumbnail is blurred for artistic purposes.

The full size image has muddy textures and lots of jaggies (aliasing) on edges.

As I said before this could be from low graphics settings from the original screenshot, or some really bad JPEG compression.

I'd be curious to see if Morgel could upload it himself to a different image hosting site to compare, if the problems are from the compression.

The machine that I took the shot with was a Dell Latitude E6500 Laptop with 4 gb of memory and a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M Video Chip. The Vista is 32 bit

My normal gaming box is a home built Vista 64 box with 6 gb of RAM and a ATI 3870 with 512mb of video Ram. The game does better on it.....

Both machine are hooked to 22 inch LCDs at eith 1650 (for the Laptop) or 1900 resolution for the desktop.

So, did the screenshot look like that in its original form or what?

If the players who submitted entries to the contest would like to post them, that would be fine. We won't be doing this however.

will do so when I get home. It really did have that blurry look on my screen, I like it. Only edit I did was to crop my head off at bottom of screen.
