View Full Version : Devs, any plans on fixing the lag on the way to VOD or in the shroud?

Devs,

I love this game, and think you're doing a great job, but seriously, lag like you find on the way to VOD should be unacceptable.

Also, any time a group does significant damage in the shroud, the game halts to a crawl.

Are there any plans at all to try and address these situations?

I'll be honest, it just ruins the game when this lag happens, ruins it.

On our speed runs, by the time I'm done lagging from the DPS lag on the portals, the team has already pulled the named guys in part 2 and started working on them :(

Gol, you've managed to make me feel better. My lag ends right before we enter the portal to part 2.

OP, Yes the part 1 lag is ********.

Slow down the devil teleportation, this will solve lag issues on way to VOD.

That isn't helping your case as it shows that it is your client that is lagging and not the servers. Time for a new computer :D

Travelling, I was able to run on connections ranging from 300ms to 80ms. I also was able to use more than one computer and could see the difference on normal play was due to the computer (I always turned off most of the special options that makes the game nice looking). Granted there is server side lag alot of the time (I would ask in group and others would have the same lags), but it sure is much better than the old Khyber lags of the past (it was lagtastic [tm]).

But I totally agree that the teleporting devils slows it way down as well as the large fight areas with numerous monsters (run to VoD was mentioned).

I hope they start addressing these things and do more play testing on their minimal platforms instead of higher end machines.

The lag Mykke and Gol is talking about affected all 12 players in the group, some a little more than others. It was stop motion on my screen during the fight.

They need to fix the shroud first, part one lags horribly due the number of portals per the GM I spoke with. They know it's a problem, lets see a fix already.

I doubt all things that can cause LAG are known and doubt they are limited to specific areas; just had major LAG spikes with a party doing Madstone Crator, 1 party wipe and 2 near party wipes (thankfully, we had 1 individual escape for those last 2 nasty LAG spikes).

When an individual experiences lag it is probably that persons PC, but when the entire party LAGs simultaneously I suspect it is server side and do hope Turbine has monitoring software in place to record and replicate server side LAG to increase the likely hood of preventing it in the future.

Or it may be more complicated than that and the best way for Turbine to fix it is have players report lag spikes in the New Ticket area of the Help bar, but have it fill out all the information the programmers need automatically:

Massive LAG spike
player 1: That was a bad lag spike...
player 2: You felt it also?
player 3: I felt it also, I'll click the report button.
Conditions during LAG spike reported to technitians for investigation.

b) harbor decorating is easier
c) forgot to put in the patch
d) all of the above
e) chose any

Yep, enquiring minds want to know. Its not on the known issues list so it must be unknown. A lot of the player base is aware that its from multiple teleporting mobs....
