It was a musical time on the forums when Deaths_ward (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=77437) asked players what their theme song is when they play DDO (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=153650).

Honorable mention goes to baddax (http://forums.ddo.com/member.php?u=94474) for their thread Old school PNP rules/moments (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=153803)

Be on the look out for the announcement of the next Thread of the Week in the News and Announcement forums (http://forums.ddo.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2) later this week!

Warchimp130 gathered players together for game night back in the days of the Fernia server. The tradition of gathering together for games, such as Hide and Seek, ran all the way to this year. I have enjoyed the information and the feedback from devs in this thread. THank you.

New spells are in the works for Mod 8, including the Cleric spell "Death Pact" and Paladin spells "Zeal" and "Lionheart." Look at the bright side: good spells for low level characters.

In case anyone is wondering (I was), here are the descriptions for the three spells mentioned:

Zeal
Paladin 2
Duration: 1 minute. (Swift casting, like Close Wounds.)
Benefit: Grants the Paladin a +4 deflection bonus to armor class and increases their movement speed.

Lionheart
Paladin 1
Duration: 24 seconds plus 6 per caster level.
Benefit: Imbues a single ally with great bravery, making them immune to fear.

Death Pact
Cleric 8
Benefit: You enter a pact with your deity that brings you back to life after you are slain. While under the effects of this spell and after the raise effect, your constitution is decreased by two and cannot be restored until you rest.
Material Component: Large Diamond, available at spell shops.

So mod 8 is going to (1) fix handwraps; (2) renovate the harbor; and (3) add 3 spells to the game! Hmmm, sounds like about the same amount of content we received in mod 7.

Thanks for giving us something, Tolero. While I do appreciate the effort, I'm pretty sure I don't need to go into detail about why I remain severely disappointed. You know as well as everyone else here that this is essentially a weekly forum summary with a couple of tidbits in the town crier section, and hardly an acceptable substitute for the WDAs.

This isn't meant to be a replacement for the WDA. It's just another resource for the community. The WDA is gone. It's replacement is on the wiki. I miss the WDA too, but comparing everything to it is unfair. This is something new and different. It will help new players, or just those new to the forum, a chance to see that is going on in the community. I appreciate it.

Why is it unfair to compare Turbine's efforts against the WDA? Is it simply because they said the WDA isn't coming back and we should just learn to like the new channels of information? The WDA was (as far as I can tell) liked by EVERYONE (except maybe Turbine.) It was informative, it sparked interesting discussions...basically, it did what a decent channel of information is supposed to. Turbine decided to take that channel away and replace it with other channels...seems to me that its absolutely fair to compare these new efforts of informing us with the old ways.

But...since their mind is made up, something is better than nothing.

The reason why it is unfair is that the decision to stop the WDA is likely to be higher in origin than the community relations team. They are working within a new box.

This isn't meant to be a replacement. Heck, if we got the WDA back today, I would still like to see this new channel of info. Even as someone that watches the forums pretty regularly, there are things that I miss, and I like to see them highlighted. There is good info here. New game info? No, but that doesn't mean that it has no value. My guess is that you will see info from this appear on DDO Cast, not not just this week. It's something new and useful, and it is something that the community needed.

So this is what tolero was talkin about as the wda replacement last week, to give us some info... oh wow........ old info.. old info... old info.... so the absolute little bit they've given out of the past 2 months now..... wow its now in one spot.... wopdy freakin do. Pathetic attempt to cover loss of the one thing the devs/gms gave us that was useful. Wheres all this new coverage that was commin from other sights??? They took the wdas to give exclusives..... yet ive seen jack, not even a mention about ddos *mysterious* summer update... which will be what, a few bug fixes and a harbor renovation.... just so they can say "hey we gave you the quaterly update".... Its one thing to be closed mouth about your game when you've got a whole slew of players and a wide range of stuff to do.... its another thing to be closed mouthed when 90% of your players are basically waiting for that info because your game launched at half the level cap it truly should have. Oh well another couple months till warhammer.

I hope that the complaints of those that feel entitled to 'what they want' can be ignored and not influence the continuation of this.

Open-minded people can understand that YOU, Tolero did not take away the WDA.
Open-minded people can understand that YOU, Tolero did this to offer us SOMETHING, and that your hands are tied as far as how much you can put in it.
Open-minded people can understand that YOU, Tolero are doing everything that you can to bring things to the community, and appreciate your efforts.

If you are wanting more information, start a thread called 'Dear Kate', boycott the forums, send emails to Turbine. Any of this should prove more effective than trolling a forum thread that was posted with good intentions.

This is an interesting fluff piece and I can see myself using it. It will allow me to avoid the forums more and just get the consolidated info once a week. That is who it will help the most, the forum goers who dont come to the forums very often.

It will not be eagerly awaited as each WDA was.

Also what happened to the Pali spell Stalwart Pact?

Prestige enhancements are planned for fighters and paladins. Before that, however, the melee classes (especially fighters) will be glad to see an array of tactical feats made available to them.

zigzag - *Gforged* There was mention of a Holy Avenger in the works. How will this be implemented? I'm sure pure-class (an mostly pure) Paladins will hate to see their personal weapon in the hands of 2 Rogue/10 Ranger/4 Paladin multi-class character.
Eladrin - A Holy Avenger's a special thing. You can't just hand them out to everyone.
Eladrin - I expect that a certain level of dedication will be required, and perhaps a task or two to prove your worth.

Eladrin - We're looking at various solutions including changing the basic nature of Combat Expertise.

It's King Richard I of England, a notable warrior-king.

Or possibly the immunity to fear spell named after him.

I thought it was a reference to the Wizard of Oz and the cowardly lion who needed a heart....

EDIT: Opps...the tinman wanted a heart, the lion wanted courage.

If I were an artist instead of an engineer, we'd get new outfits with kilts. Scottish monks would rule stormreach! Also scottish rangers, wizards, and every other class that wears cloth.

just imagine the difficulty in animating kilt-wearing tumblers for all of the classes/sexes. 'cause you know what a true Scot wears 'neath the kilt....

Maybe this is all they have worked on for Mod 8. ;) Would it be too much to ask what part of the year they are planning to release Mod 8?

During BuzzSaw's interview with Tolero for DDOCast, she said before Christmas, and hinted at even before Halloween, but she wouldn't say much more. My Guess Late/END of September.

But then later they got together, in a small province of Mundania where such unions had been legalized, and thereby came about the roots of "Lionheart"... :D

...or some such nonsense.

/Steers back onto the topic.

Has been mentioned, but this looks like it will be more useful for those infrequent visitors, and newer players. Still all in all, not bad. ;)

This raises a question for me. Why does Turbine not sell shirts at all? I would gladly sport a DDO shirt if only I could.

In lieu of selling your own, can I talk you into posting high-res version of the DDO logo and the "Free Arlos!" kobold? No reason why, but I swear it's just for personal use.

I'm with you here, I would be most happy to wear a DDO shirt.

I updated my earlier post, and wanted to thank the devs for some comments. I enjoy the feedback from the devs, it makes me feel like turbine actually cares about its devoted customers. Removing the WDA is a marketing plan, ok, but don't forsake your current customers. Thanks again for the feedback in this thread.
