trying for self reliant build. would like at least 2nd lvl spells for healing purposes. Should I drop some of my sorcerer levels for for fighter/paladin. Any help with enhancements is appreciated

Working on a Sorc/Pal build myself, still really new to the game, but that won't stop me from responding :) Plus I have a couple of related questions as well.

I'm not sure you need Force of Personality. With Divine Grace already giving all of your saves your CHA bonus and access to the Construct Thinking enhancement line (+will save), I wonder if this feat could be better spent on something else. If not, maybe hold off on it until level 6 or 8 and slide up Weapon Focus and Power Attack to earlier slots? Extend? Maybe grab Mithral Body since you're going to be so melee focused (+5 AC and only 5% spell failure at level 6 with Inscribed Armor enhancements)? I'm sure a more experienced player can give better insight on this.

This an honest question to you or anyone else. What is the purpose of the third level of Paladin for a WF? D.Health isn't helpful as you are already immune to disease. Is Aura of Courage/fear immunity that helpful? Would stocking up on potions to break/resist the effect be a simpler solution (assuming they are easy/inexpensive to come by)?

I'm also not sure how useful Hypnotism will be for you either, since I think it will be a fairly low DC Will save by the time you get it. Maybe one of the other 1st level buff or auto hit spells would make more sense.

Far and away not an expert on this, just parroting out some of the comments I've seen while researching my build.

I'm not sure you need Force of Personality. Maybe grab the mid-level WF armor feat since you're going to be so melee focused (and can get rid of most of the penalties before you hit your third caster level w/ enhancements)? I'm sure a more experienced player can give better insight on this. Did not realize this about paladins but isn't divine grace a 2nd level ability and not in effect at 1st level.

At 4th level you are still running around the harbor/market trying to finish things on Elite. The shaman and other spellcasters are usually throwing fear at you. It is the only spell you have to worry about as a WF with a low wisdom.

Maybe one of the other 1st level buff or auto hit spells would make more sense. Hypnotism is still a viable spell around 5th level. This toon is basicly going to try and solo alot of adventures. Self healing is a wonderful thing.

Yes. it´s overkill.


The 3rd level of Paladin will be a dead level at 10+. Dont take it, or you´ll regret it later.


Also dont put ability raises into CON. it will only net you 16 HP in the end.
decide if you want to be able to cast offensively, or if you try to rely on spells without save. In the 1st case put them into CHA, in the secound into STR.

Sor 12 gives you recontruct.
Pal 3 gives you most Pal goodies. Maybe Pal4 if you want to use that Cha for turning undead.
or Ftr 1 for an extra feat. (and Tower shield)

Use divine power clickies to raise your BAB. Tenser's.....best from scrolls when you are out of SP, or sure you won't want to cast spells.

The WORST thing you can do is split it up 8 and 8. Stick with the 14/2 formula, and you will be fine OR go 14/2 fighter-wizard combo with combat expertise. Forget about turning undead, that is what you have firewall and scorch ray for.
