So true and so sad, Rameses.

Perhaps this would be better served in a different location, as opposed to the Monk forums?

Maybe the "General Forums"? I'm up for suggestions. ;) I had started it in here because I was reading the monk forums and ran across a bunch of abbreviations. Wiki part is a good idea, and one I will have to check into. :)

A long forgotten art lost to the side for insta-kill vorpals

Although you could definitely consider Vorpals DPS toys, if you see a request for DPS on an LFM they're looking for toon that can issue massive damage very quickly.

I Consider these (to name a few) to be DPS weapons:
Greater Bane Weapons
Elemental Weapons with Pure good
Slaying weapons (Banishers, Vorpals, Disrupters, Smiters...)

But never forget those Stat effecting weapons that give a Heavy Tank that extra umph either. They can be very effective in bringing a large mob to their knees. Although normally used by ranged fighters I've seen Stat weapons used to great effect by 2 weapon wielding tanks and rangers; Wounding / puncturing is great for the mob with insane HPs. The Cursespewing (stat effect) / Disrupter (insta kill) combination is always a fav with Undead. Destruction weapons can be pretty good if you're having diff hitting the target.

DPS = DAMAGE per second. Completely different from stat damage or insta-kill effects. If someone posts for DPS, they do NOT want stat damagers or vorpal /smite /disruption. They are looking for direct HP damage.
