This is my latest (and he´s been on the backburner a bit due to shroud frenzy)

I´ve always enjoyed playing Elven Fighter Wizards back in the day of PnP, so I decided that having 9 capped toons a Level 14 Mule and 1 spot left, then it was time for a Fun-Challenge to play Build.

Anyway, your input and suggestions, etc are appreciated and I´ll try to answer any questions.

FAQ: I´ve gotten it so many times during these 1st 7 levels.....(I didn´t go Sorcerer because Skill points, 2 free metamagic Feats and CHA hitting 20 is way good a trade-off; also didn´t want the Spell Level drop and less Spells per level and the inability to swap spells as needed at shrines....)

Armor Class: Should hit 52-54 but will add to post as I review and do the math.

Arcane Spell Failure: 5% as current AP´s. Will be Zero when more Levels available and the corresponding AP´s.

Main Spells used: (Show the Possible Support Roles and Soloing Potential)

Level I- Jump, Magic Missile, Nightshield, Tumble and Mage Armor
Level II- Touch of Idiocy, Ottos, Invisibility, Blindness
Levell III- Protections, Dispel, Repair Serious
Level IV- Firewall, Solid Fog, DDoor

Combat: Although BAB is a 12, the Elf Enhancements for Longswords/Rapiers (Both of which will be used due to a nice LS collection gathering dust) make up for it quite nicely. By no means is this guy a melee DPS, but rather the weapons used will be primarily crowd control, De-Buff, Shattermantle, Paralyzing and Destructing, all combining it with Touch of idiocy, Blindness and Solid fog, etc....

I wanted to like this build.

I tried. I'm all for battle-casters of varying sorts.

But first I started wondering why you took 7 pally levels. And I saw your plan for 20 and saw that you were going for 11 pally. Alright, that makes sense. But what do 7 wizard levels get you that umd (shield 10 wands, stoneskin wands, ddoor scrolls), clickies (touch of id, solid fog), potions (pro energy, haste, resist20), and gear don't?

3 no-save damage spells, clearly -- you've spent 20+ action points and 2 feats on them, which I'd say is rather a lot for their limited use. 4-missile magic missile, 2-ray scorching ray, and firewall. And you'll get maybe 14 casts total between shrines if you buff as well. And your gear loadout doesn't allow for a lore item unless swapped in for your weapon... And of course the build's intelligence is too low to land spells with saves against anything but lower level content.

So I'm back to the pally levels. I can see this working as something like a 13wizard/2pally/1rogue or bard for umd, and I can see making a super-umd-monkey paladin, and I play a max-strength/low-charisma evasion sorc/pally, but I'm just not seeing this level split working at all.

And actually, as I think about it, 12wizard/2pally/2rogue could work just as well as the sorc version -- you'd have the feat room for both insightful reflexes and force of personality, you just wouldn't have very many spellpoints... But you can completely dump dex and wisdom, and only worry about 4 stats. Soloability would probably be worse than the sorc version b/c of the spellpoint difference though.

In any case, good luck with the build. I hope you enjoy it. I don't see it being as powerful as less deeply multi-classed versions, but that doesn't at all interfere with it being fun. Keep us posted as you level. :)

So did I but a caster with wimpy spells and a melee that won't hit water if it fell out of a boat.

I think it has alot of potential but needs rethought to execute such a build

Have you considered 7wis/7pali/2rog halfling with the healing Dragon Marks?

There is tremendous synergy between the healing Dragon Marks, the pali's clw, and firewall/scorching ray when you take the feats max, emp, and emp healing.

I have had Duality of Man since mod 4, and he has been very very fun to play. The most stat, gear and feat intensive character I have.

Designed and equiped correctly, you get:

21 uninterruptable, manaless heals, ranging from the 70's to crits for 590+
max, emp, enhanced firewalls and scorching rays
displacement and blur
d door
50+ ac
300+ hitpoints
30 to resists
+35 to hit
High UMD (over 40, though mine is not there yet) resulting in excelent scroll use

Add shroud gear and you can increase most of the above.

Best part? He shows up with the pali symbol in groups.
