I have a question about the burst and blast portions of the damage.

I'll use flaming in my first example.

+5 flaming, flaming burst, flaming blast weapon.

Is the damage
1dX +5 +1d6 flaming + (1d6 flaming +2d6 flaming burst) + 4d6 blast

Basically, I'm wondering if there is a 1d6 that you get from the "flaming burst" property on non-crits?

Second example that might make my question more clear.

+5 flaming, icy burst, acid blast weapon

Can you get: 1dX +5, +1d6 flaming + 1d6 cold + 2d6 cold burst + 4d6 acid blast

Thanks! :)

Flaming gives damage on every hit.
Flaming Burst gives damage on every hit.

Flaming Burst gives damage on crits.
Flaming Blast gives damage on crits.

What this means is that the step 2 power is better than either the step 1 or step 3 powers from the same chain. It's counterintuitive for tier 3 to be worse than tier 2, but it's true. Note that when originally released, Flaming Blast sucked even worse than it does now, but even after the buff it's still weak. In fact, Flaming Blast is weaker than plain Flaming.

Keep this in mind when planning which weapons to build. Many players take damage-dice effects for tier 1 and tier 2, but then switch to +4 AC or +2 strength for tier3.

Actually, this is the damage you would get with a weapon that has a x3 multiplier.

XdX(weapons base damage) + 5 + 1d6 flaming + 1d6 cold + 2d10 cold burst + 2d10 acid burst + 4d6 acid.

Acid blast also has the burst on it, and you have the burst die wrong. Also, you would have to roll a 20 to get the 4d6 acid blast, and of course, burst is crit.

And one more thing, if you go fire, water, earth, you will not get a special tier 3 effect. So I wouldn't do that.

Hope this helped.

ooooohhhhh!!!!

Let me see if I have this right...

"blast" gives 2d10 on any crit PLUS 4d6 on a 20?

 :D

Yes, for an elemental x3 modifier weapon. An elemental x2 is 1d10.

"energy" is dfferent, ie alignment dmg - positive/negative.
Good blast giving 4d6 crit dmg for an x3 multiplier.

The 4d6 on a 20 does not scale based on type or crit multiplier however.

You could get elemental mastery bonus with that combo.

Fire + Water = Tempered
Add Earth + Air shard (Balance)
= Flaming, Icy Burst, Acid Blast XXX of Elemental Mastery.
