Ok, this is one of those ideas that a lot of ppl might go 'yeah, wow, hey that's much better.' But the devs will go, 'yyeea-no.'

But I can't help it, I hate Coyle (worse then Clay Aiken) and I have to leak my brain. So, here goes.

How about (at the very least from now on) we stop addding in lame, ugly, floaty, bad-AI npcs to defend in 'escort/protection' quests. And instead flag one of the party members as the chosen important 'client'.

Example:

Instead of feeding us re-skinned Coyles, like in Ritual (YES I know thats what you did I recognized his damned flute), you flag a party member randomly or based on an item they pick up so as to make them the client to defend. Or maybe it could be the lowest HP member of the group. Whatever. Anything. Anything is more interesting, and there's maybe a thousand better ideas for these types of quests. So please, dream up new ones.

Now that you can buff and heal NPCs, these quests are a cinch.

Put in more, please.

i dunno, the NPCs you need to protect in Dust and Ritual... even East Threnal do a fine job of surviving, now that we can buff & heal them.

As a cleric (you know: the one party member that actually has to pay attention to these NPCs), they're fairly easy to manage these days. The guy in ritual is pretty entertaining actually... what with his spamming of Sunburst and all.

The guy in ritual is a beast.

No problem defending him.

Heck, in some groups, I bet he's defending the group more than anything.

Have to agree with previous posts. guy in Ritual is pretty impressive we stoned a npc to keep him up while a group member caught up and dang if he didn't kill the thing in 2-3 okay maybe 5 min and move on to next part where we repeated the stone to keep mob up, cause group member still wasn't there yet. I think we had to do it 3 times (three rooms) to get our group member caught up. That dude's much better than Coyle, however little coyle in Orchard... I could've done without .. And that spider queen, mega hps there. No problem with her even unbuffed.

He was fun to watch! Iwas following him around thinking "so THAT's what I'd look like with unlimited mana."

On normal that end fight was over almost before I knew what was up. Overall, I found that quest the easiest.. I like that the biggest fight is well before the end.. sort of a training ground for the gauntlet without the boring parts.

I have a different complaint.
I'm already sick of hacking at portals. The first part of the Shroud is just boring to me. I hate it, and I hate it more each time I do it. I think the whole concept is wrong. Beef up the portal keepers as serious mini-bosses, make them a bit harder to reach, and have the portal go away when they die. This way is way too tedious.

Agree completely. I was bored w/ that 1st part the 2nd time I was in there. Part 2 is my favorite part. It's a phenomenal raid, and very fun, first part is a bit of a drag though....Glad it gets better from there.

My guildies always thought I was a tad touched in the head because I referred to Radnik (in the orchard) as Coyle's Cousin:rolleyes: The new guy in ritual is more like his father - he kicks booty. All in all I enjoy these npc's except for Cotle way back when he had had little ac, little hp, and no sense to get out of the kitchen... he made it very difficult to get people to join you for groups for part III, that in itself was the only reason i disliked Coyle. It was not that part III was hard to do but many people just disliked doing it.

The one thing I would like to see though is when they add an npc to defend is that they add them to your party list rather then have you constantly clicking on them via mouse to check on how they're doing.

I was sort of hoping that the Portal Keeper was the key to killing the portals. So if you could kill the keeper quickly it closed the portals and returned any spawn from the portal.

Hehe Id like to see it randomly choose a PC that needs to be defended....."Red Wizard is now IT."

My guild undermanned underpowered that quest slogging through with a team of 4 including a 13 and 3 15s one tank one rogue one cleric and a sorcerer. We crawled through there, a few recalls one wipe etc.. just trying to get to the end out of curiosity. Once we found our Coyle, we buffed him up and... he pretty much finished the quest for us. Our sorcerer and cleric were off getting mana and my fighter/cleric healed him from time to time whle he cruised to the finish line and finished the boss battle pretty much on his own. (he got a little wand healing from me but didn't appear to actualy need it.

Sad to say he was stronger than any of our characters :P

Coyle's annoying because he's stupid.

I mean, come on, scorching ray on Iron Golems?!?

In these quests, I would like a little icon to go up on the left side with the other party members... so clerics can watch that person's life without having them actually selected.
