Interstingly enough the article states January 30th, and was published today, who know when they did the preiview though as things could have changed between then and now.

I don't know and neither does anyone else but the Turbine team. Instead of dragging multiple thread into the speculation, and DOOM saying maybe you could confine it to the thread already dedicated to the topic http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=133494 .

The most interesting parts to me...

I was given a bow and some power stones, I hit forge, and when the "mouth" on the window re-opened (the graphic effect is strange-- it literally "eats" your items), I had a bow with the Holy effect in my inventory. Later, they gave me another stone of power, I placed the Holy bow into the altar with it, and the a Chain Lightning effect was added to it. So you will be able to craft an item, and then recraft it to add more powers. The system isn't really a "crafting" system as its known in most MMOs, but it will provide some fun opportunities for players to hunt for reagents and hopefully put together some really powerful items.

Kate expects them to hit level 20 by the end of the year, and Module 8 will continue the story of the pit fiend found in Module 6, as players will head to Shavarath themselves to fight devils, demons, and archons. I asked what they could do after level 20 (since that's the maximum level in D&D's ruleset, and Turbine wants it to stay the max level in the game as well), and the devs had no shortage of ideas-- they want to touch on epic levels, prestige classes, and continue to pull addition content directly from Eberron.

And nice to see the press out there Turbine!

Looking closer at "Aspect of Lightning" it appears to be a 'derived' attribute.

Since the bow has enough 'air' and 'positive energy' stuff on it, it gets 'Aspect of Lightning.'

Some of those weapons you guys are seeing might be these: "The skeletons each have a legendary, lootable item on them that can only be used in the instance"

From spending a lot of time playing Gauntlet, there is a bow, a staff, an ax, and a sword.

I thought this was interesting as well. I am hoping that you are correct in that there may be more of a future for this game than some would believe. I've read all of the Eberron books so far and think that there is plenty of material available for content. Module 6 already seems to be getting more coverage than 5 did.

Hey MT, it works great, but you have to go into Cheat mode first:

1) Enter a PvP pit (I've only tried Lobster but it prob works in all of them)
2) Remove all armor/robes
3) Go into autoattack mode - BUT DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TARGETTED
4) Cast any spell on yourself (clickies are fine for this for non casters)
5) within 2 seconds of each other hit: CTRL-T, ALT-F3, ALT-F4, ALT-F5

That will bring up the special options menu where you can spawn items and mobs, go immortal, turn off clipping, etc. It will float like a chat window until you log out.

I am surprised that no one is mentioning the fact that after a ton of B****ing and complaining about dungeons being random that Turbine is making an effort towards that end.

"The shield can only be brought down when the four Lieutenants of Shavarath guarding it (chosen from "nine or ten" different possibilities, according to the devs) are first separated-- they each have abilities that they share with each other when close, so they need to be split up to be defeated more easily-- and then killed."

It sounds to me like the four Lieutenants of Shavarath will be alternating between nine or ten different named monster types, so it will mean that the party will have to think about what is the best strategy for taking down each and if this is totally random then you have to prepare for every possible scenario.

Am I reading this wrong or is this giving me a woody for no reason?

yep, caught that just hoping its not a bug they plan on fixing in before release. But I am positive it is one that they are letting slip by because they are sure that no one will be able to build any kind of a huge game unbalancing weapon before the can get mod 6.1 in place to fix it in.:eek::eek:

which means that the zerging finish in 3 day, farm till you drop crowd will end up with unbelievable uber weapons that will not be ML corrected when they do patch it. Not if a lower level is able to brought into the raid to "craft a weapon" then it will be his/hers. Note the mention of a guard at the 12 to keep out pesky lowbies as we once were. If no, don't say it won't happen once the power gamers have capped all there toons and created a few weapons of choice and taken advantage of the bugs to speed walk through the quest to try it.;)

Since when is level 20 max level in AD&D? Core classes max at 20 when epic levels start but there is no level cap in AD&D 3.5 and I would assume 4.0.

If it is true that the Devs want to keep the max level at 20, I don't see myself playing DDO in a few years.

... And +6 dex bracers (http://www.massively.com/photos/ddo-the-shrould-hands-on/601914/).

Those bracers drop in the Abbot pre-raid boss chest.

I saw another item that was +6 to str and mod fort with a ML 9 bind on acquire a Belt of the m something http://www.massively.com/photos/ddo-the-shrould-hands-on/601982/

That is the belt from the Dragon Raid (Velah).

Wow. You all don't need to worry about the new stuff, you can get excited enough finding things that have been around for months or longer. :D

level 20 by the end of the year... sounds like we'll get 17-20 in one update then.
Which makes sense. The biggest reason they've only done two levels at a time so far has been the new spell level. But 17-18 is the final spell level, and 19-20 doesn't have many, if any, complex abilities.

Barbarian: 19 has another notch of DR, 20 has another use of Rage, and upgrades the rage to Mighty Rage.
Bard: All they gain is additional spells known (6th level is as high as they get for spell levels), and another notch on their Inspire Courage.
Cleric/Wizard/Sorcerer: More spell slots/spells known really. Wizard gets a final bonus feat at 20. . .
Fighter: Yet another bonus feat. . .yawn.
Ranger: 5th Favored Enemy at 20 and more spell slots.
Rogue: 10d6 Sneak Attack at 19, as well as that 4th special ability. *nothing* at 20.
Paladin: Another use of Smite Evil and more spell slots.

Only reason 19-20 may be harder would be due to fancy enhancements for staying pure class all the way to 20, especially for things like Fighter and Rogue that otherwise get nearly nothing for staying pure all the way.

<<<<<<Kate expects them to hit level 20 by the end of the year, and Module 8 will continue the story of the pit fiend found in Module 6, as players will head to Shavarath themselves to fight devils, demons, and archons. I asked what they could do after level 20 (since that's the maximum level in D&D's ruleset, and Turbine wants it to stay the max level in the game as well), and the devs had no shortage of ideas-- they want to touch on epic levels, prestige classes, and continue to pull addition content directly from Eberron.>>>>>

Since when is level 20 max level in AD&D? Core classes max at 20 when epic levels start but there is no level cap in AD&D 3.5 and I would assume 4.0.

If it is true that the Devs want to keep the max level at 20, I don't see myself playing DDO in a few years.

you seem to skip the part where "they want to touch on epic levels". Epic has is own set of rules, so once we hit epic its a whole new ballgame. Core rules go up to 20, so core game will as well. and this is not AD&D it is DnD 3.5

Yeah, it was pretty obvious the Massively guy doesn't know a lot about D&D since he pretty much says "They're keeping the max at 20" and "They're going to go epic" back to back.

Anyone else find it slightly amusing that the article mentions they showcased the Titan and Dragon raid, talked about the Abbot raid, but didn't actually have them DO the Abbot raid?

I find it slightly amuseing that you did not notice they did not DO titan and dragon either. They just showed them the bosses. If you paid attention you would have noticed they fell thru the bridge and landed in the market place.

They would be crazy to actually do them. While the Titan and Dragon look kool, the actual combat for both is silly...
