Answers to common questions (Thanks Willphase for providing answers to PMed questions)

All the recipes for Green steel items have been uncovered - there is no secret special rapier or greataxe etc. recipe.
Multiple shards combinations only work on the third upgrade .
There are no 3 shard recipes.
Only Multiple shards creating a known Aspect will combine.
Combining Single Focus Shards (eg 2 x positive to make a positive super shard) is not expected to yield anything special, except pehaps a waste of 12 valuable large ingredients.
It is beleived that only shards created with the with the same gem and essence will successfully combine at the altar of Devastation.
If you chose a single focus upgrade path the only way to unlock your 3rd tier specail bonus is to add a Supreme shard of the same focus e.g. you put fire at tier 1 and fire at tier 2, you have to add a fire shard to the third tie to gain your specila bonus.
If you have an item with a mixed focus aspect (ie not fire fire, positive, positive etc) Then only by adding a "Super" Shard at the 3rd Altar (Devastation) that matches the existing elemental aspect (e.g. 'Aspect of ...' on the item description) will you unlock the tier 3 special bonus effect. e.g. you put Fire at tier 1 and Negative at Tier 2, you must add an Ash shard. Exception: Balance of Land and Sky requires a Tempered Shard, and Tempered requires a Balance of Land and Sky shard.
When combining Supreme Shards, the dominant element will be determined by the following order: Water, Fire, Earth, Air, Positive, Negative E.g. Fire beats Positive. e.g. Positive beats Negative. Exception: Air beats Water. The dominant element determines the tier 3 effect. E.g. it's not possible to get Good Blast on a mineral II weapon.
Interesting Fact: You do not have to get a bonus effect at tier 3 if you don't want to e.g. you could go Positive Dominion Material then Earth Dominion Material then Positive Dominion Material and end up with a +5 holy acid burst weapon of good blast with no bonus effect - if you really really wanted Good Blast over Acid Blast, Transmuting, Keen, Slicing... (save yourself 12 ingredients!) ================================================== ================================

INTRODUCTION TO CRAFTING AND THE ELDRITCH RITUALS

Following is a guide and a compilation of recipes and information for the new "Crafting" system
I am not claiming ownership or creation of any of their information but am just providing a compiling service ;)

INTRODUCTION

If you want the full introduction to the system please visit this link Turbine - "An Official Beginners Guide to The Eldritch Device" (http://www.ddo.com/articles/945)..I originally had it reposted here, but it clutters this posting.

Firstly there are Two types of Eldritch Device. The first is the Stone of Change found near the marketplace bank in Stormreach.
The Second are the Raid Loot Crafting Altars, including the Altar of Fecundity under Meridia, the Altar of Invasion in the first part of the Shroud Raid, The Altar of Subjugation in the thrd part of the raid and the Altar of Devasation in the fith part (and end) of the Raid.

The Sonte of Change - can be used to convert some items (eg 10 Flawed Siberys shards to Imperfect Siberys Shards) and in "Rituals" such as the Adamintine Ritual to improve the Hardness and Durability of items and weapons. Recipes for the stone of change can be found several paragraphs down.

Raid Loot Crafting Altars - "There are several steps to creating your own loot and upgrading that item, so let’s see how it works."
Everything starts with ingrdients. Find basic (Tier 1) ingredients and using the recipes below, upgrade them to Tier 2 igredients and then use them to make or upgrade a Green Steel Item. Recipes are not physical items you find in the game, they’re simply known combinations of ingredients that successfully produce another item or ingredient.

The Green Steel Item upgrade is part of the new raid loot mechanism so you need to be doing the Shroud Raid for many of the ingredients particularly after the manufacture of . ie. you find ingredients, make your green steel item, then upgrade the item (up to 3 times ?) to become more powerful.

There are several posts at the top of this thread that contain important information and I have linked to them as follows..or just scroll down the first few posts. You can also try the Wiki (http://ddo.enterwiki.net/page/Crafting) which (say that 5 times fast) contains a lot of this information in a manner/layout not possible in the forums.

STONE OF CHANGE

There is a "Stone of Change" (The Marketplace, Near the Bank) that can upgrade existing items (Ie not part of the green steel "Raid" loot)

Currently you can do several things to items on the stones of change as follows:

Binding/Attuning Ritual I:
Benefit: Binds / Attunes items so they no longer take permanent damage and can have rituals (Like the Adamantine Ritual placed on them) but it can no longer be traded.
** There is currently a bug where ML0 items require 400 Shards to Bind/Attune (400 = Lvl 20 item)
Materials: item requires (minimum level of item ^ 2) Khyber Dragonshard Fragments eg Level 12 item need 144 Khyber Dragonshard Fragments**

Adamantine Ritual I:
Benefit: This item has been tempered by a Stone of Change using the Adamantine Ritual. It has +5 Hardness and +10 Durability.
Further Adamantine Rituals will increase this item's Durability. (But require greater amounts of Adamantine Ore and Soul Gems)
Materials: 10 Adamantine Ore, 10 Soul Gem: Essence of Earth, 1 Attuned Equippable Item (Items bound like raid items still need the binding/Attune Ritual before upgrading here.

Adamantine Ritual II:
Benefit: This item has been tempered by a Stone of Change using the Adamantine Ritual. +5 to Durability.
Further Adamantine Rituals will increase this item's Durability. (But require greater amounts of Adamantine Ore and Soul Gems).
Materials: 15 Adamantine Ore, 20 Soul Gem: Essence of Earth, 1 Attuned Equippable Item (Items bound like raid items still need the binding/Attune Ritual before upgrading here.

Alchemical Armor Eldritch Ritual
Benefit: Grants armor a +1 alchemical bonus to AC.
Materials: Requires: Your armor, 5 Vials of Pure Water, and 15 Strings of Prayer Beads.

Alchemical Shield Eldritch Ritual
Benefit: Grants your shield a +1 alchemical bonus to AC.
Materials: Your shield, 6 Silver Flame Hymnals, and 2 Tomes: Prophecies of Khyber.

Force Damage Ritual
Benefit: Your weapon will do 1 point of force damage on each successful hit.
Materials: Your weapon, 3 Luminescent Dusts, and 9 Fragrant Drowshood mushrooms.

Force Critical Ritual
Benefit: Your weapon will do 1d4 points of force damage on each successful critical hit.
Materials: Your weapon, 6 Sparkling Dusts, and 12 Deadly Feverblanch mushrooms.

Resistance Ritual
Benefit: Your jewelry item will give you a +1 competence bonus to saves.
Materials: Your jewelry accessory, 4 Lightning-Split Soarwoods, and 22 Funerary Tokens.

The Raid Loot system for the Shroud raid is a new crafting mechanism that will be expanded on with each new module.
There are 4 altars used for different stages of the crafting process.
Fecundity (Under Meridia), Invasion (End of Shroud Part 1), Subjugation (End of Shroud Part 3), Devastation (End of Shroud Part 5)

Altar of Fecundity - You gain access to this altar after completing all 5 pre-raid quests.
This atar lets you make special ingredients (Tier 2) using ingredients found in The Veil and pre-raid quests.
The Tier 2 ingredients can be used to make Green Steel Weapons or Items that form the basis for upgrading during the Shroud Raid.
* Wielding or wearing the Green Steel Item binds it to your Character.

Altar of Invasion - You gain access to this altar after completing part 1 of the Shroud raid.
This atar lets you make special ingredients (Tier 2) using ingredients found in The Shoud Part 1 Left Hand Chest (small ingredients).
The Tier 2 Invasion ingredients can be used to upgrade your Green Steel Weapons or Items to the First/Tier 1/Small upgrade.
Upgrading your Green Steel Item or Weapon binds it to your character.

Altar of Subjugation - You gain access to this altar after completing part 3 of the Shroud raid.
This atar lets you make special ingredients (Tier 2) using ingredients found in The Shoud Part 2 and 3 Chests (medium ingredients).
The Tier 2 Subjugation ingredients can be used to upgrade your Green Steel Weapons or Items (Which must have already had the first upgrade applied) to the Second/Tier 2/Medium upgrade.

Altar of Devastation - You gain access to this altar after completing part 5 of the Shroud raid.
This atar lets you make special ingredients (Tier 2) using ingredients found in The Shoud Part 4 and 5 Chests (large ingredients).
The Tier 2 Devatastation ingredients can be used to upgrade your Green Steel Weapons or Items (Which must have already had the first and second upgrade applied) to the Third/Tier 3/Large upgrade.

What now ?
Som people may still be asking What do I need to do...Follow this link to a step by step guide to crafting an item all the way to Teir 3/Large upgrade. It would be a good idea though to peruse the following lists of upgrades and effects on the item or weapon to choose the right mix for your character. Some benefits from each upgrad stack with highger upgrades, some do not.

This altar is in Meridia, Under the Tavern. You gain access once completeing the 5 pre-raid quests and talking to Ve?????.
Ve??????? will give you some componenets for a trial run...Dirt, xxxx, xxxx, xxxxx, xxx energy orb. Put these into the Altar of Fecundity and Mix them and take the resultant item back to Ve???.
It's a good idea to ensure you have all your ingredients in your ingredient bag before talking to her so you dont get the trial ingredients mixed up.
The trial ingredients are just part of the process and dont give you anything useful except to progress the mini quest to gain access to the raid.

You will hopefully have found the following ingredients during your Veil and Veil Adventure Questing.

Collect these RAW ingredients to make your "Fecundity" manufactured ingredients that are used for making your Green Steel Item. Remember you can have multiple Green Steel Items but you will need a signet stone (created from the 5 pre-raid stones) for each green item you make.

All of the Green Steel Blanks require a Shavarath Signet Stone, created using the five bound stones gained from the end chest in the pre-raids

Steps to creation of Green Steel Item:
a) Create Tier 2 Ingredients Required (You will need 3 as per the chart below)
b) Comvert Shavarath Stones into a Signet stone in the Altar of Fecundity (all 5 Stones and Mix)
c) Combine 3 Tier 1 ingredients, Signet Stone and Enrgy Orb...Press "Mix Magically"

The Green Steel Blank Recipe’s are powered by an Ebberon (Energy Orb) (or a Splintered Horn for Mod 7 Recipes) which can be purchased at the altar.
You will need a Signet stone for each Item / Weapon you wish to create.

There is a limitation on Green Steel Weave Equipment items that you cannot wear more than 1 at a time or you will receive a negative effect unless they are cleansed.
An Essence of Clensing can be taken as your 20th Shroud completeion reward. (Be prepared to give up a +3 tome option though)

More information on Cleansing an item:

a bound cleansing stone is guaranteed on each 20th (multiple) reward list (as the last item)
the cleansing stone can be applied at the Devestation (part 5 of shroud) altar to any greenweave/steel equipment regardless of its current upgraded level.
cleansing an unbound greensteel/weave item now binds it (Prior to 7.1 ? Pathc a greensteel item be cleansed by one character and then mailed/transferred)

......The SHROUD and Altars of "Invasion", "Subjugation", and "Devastation"

The next set of ingredients and altars are found in The Shroud.
Each section of the raid ends with a chest and at the end of sections 1,3,5 you can upgrade your green steel item.
Each section corresponds to a particular altar and set of componets for that altar.
The atars are Invasion, Subjugation and Devastaion respectively and the ingredients used in each altar are small, medium and large versions of the same components. The recipe's for each Altar Tier 2 / Manufactured ingredients is the same, except for the size/version of the raw ingredient.
Each Item/Weapon upgrade requires a Shard of Power (Diferent version for each Altar) which binds when you pick it up from the chest.

Ingredeints found during the raid are as follows:
Devil (Scales), Gnawed (Bones), Twisted (Shrapnel), Glowing (Arrow)heads, Length of Infernal (Chain), Sulfurous (Stone), Splintered (Horn), Shard of Power, Energy Cell, Depleted Energy Cell.
The Splintered Horn is currently an unused component possibly for future use.

Altar of Invasion – "This item is humming like the Altar of Invasion"
This altar is at the end of the first part of the shroud raid. There are 2 chests at the end of this stage. The left chest may contain RAW "small" ingredients. This is the only place to find small components for the first stage of crafting your green steel item. You will need to have enough low energy orbs to craft items you want at this altar as they cannot be purchased until the 3rd part of the raid (but may be found in the chest).

Altar of Subjugation – "This item is humming like the Altar of Subjugation"
This altar is at the end of the third part of the shroud raid. There are 2 chests at the end of the second stage and up to 4 chests at the end of the third stage. These chest may contain RAW "medium" ingredients. You will need to have enough Medium energy cells to craft items and ingredients you require at this altar as you can only purchase depleted Medium energy cells from the vendor. Depleted Energy Cells can be upgraded in the altar with a spare weapon (melee) of rating +6 to +10 which is destroyed on upgrade.

Altar of Devastation – "This item is humming like the Altar of Devastation"
This altar is at the end of the fith part of the shroud raid. There are 2 chests at the end of thie fourth stage and 2 chests at the end of the fifth (and final stage). These chest may contain RAW "Large" ingredients. You will need to have enough Large energy cells to craft items and ingredients you require at this altar as you can only purchase depleted Medium energy cells from the vendor at part three (Subjugation Altar). Depleted Energy Cells can be upgraded in the altar with a spare weapon (melee) of rating +6 to +10 which is destroyed on upgrade.

Once you have chsen your upgrade path and created the 3 Tier 2 ingredients (above) required. You can imbue a shard of power with the 3 ingredients and a power cell. You then need to upgrade your item with the imbued shard and another energy cell.

Thanks to Willphase and his guild (and the whole community) it has been determined that a special upgrade can be performed at the third altar using 2 imbued shards of power. This discussion can be found here (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=132855&page=95).

If you have chosen a mixed focus on the first 2 upgrades (eg. Positive and Acid = Mineral I Item) you can then mix an Acid imbued shard and a Positive imbued Shard and a Large Energy Cells to greate a Mineral II Imbued shard that allows the Tier 3 upgrade to take on a special bonus feature. There is a chart under the Tier 3 Upgrades identifying the combinations and recipes.

Note: 2 shards are not requied if you choose a single focus upgrade path eg Positive + Positive + Positive to gain a special Tier 3 bonus.

You will only gain 1 Tier 3 normal effect from dual shard upgrades. One effect will dominate based on the "Dominant Focus" chart below the tier 3 specail bonuses below.

When you make the third (large) upgrade it MAY be granted an Sepcial Bonus Effect. All items created at tier 2 can gain a special effect using the right focus combinations for the final upgrade. Combined Focus Aspect 3rd Tier Upgrades

To gain the special bonus for Tier 3 Combined Focus Upgrades require you to Imbue 2 Shards of power, combine them then use the resultant supershard to combine with the weapon. Only 1 Tier 3 Effect will "dominate" in the super shard. I have shown the dominant foci as the first foci listed in the shard combination.

Important Note: You must use the same Gem and Essence in the Supershard to cain the bonus effect on your weapon or item.
Steps to creat the super shard.

Add Essence, Gem and Foci to a supreme shard of power with Large energy cell to create the first shard.
Add Essence, Gem and Foci to a supreme shard of power with Large energy cell to create the second shard.
Add the two imbued shards (order does not matter) and a large energy cell and mix to create the super shard
The resultant shard description will show the dominant foci and combination aspect name, not the name of the final upgrade. (e.g. the Earth & positive Supershard will be shown as Mineral II)
Add the supershard to your tier 2 weapon and a large energy cell and Mix....Only combinations on this table work. Do not add a different supershard than listed to your Tier 2 item unles you wish to waste the 12 ingredients.

Step 1 - Make your Green Steel Item and Get Raid Ready


a) Choose your Green Steel Weave Item (eg Helm - Which I will work with) and look up ingredients (http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=1519595&postcount=2)
- Filament
- Violet
- Jewel
- Energy Orb (this is bought at a vendor near the Altar of Fecundity (See Below)
- Signet of Shavarath (this is made from the Shavarath stones from the pr-raid see below)

b) Lookup Recipe for 3 x Tier 2 ingredients (Exclude Orb and Signet)
- Filament - Husk, Twig, Petals, Pebbles

c) Gather the Basic/Tier 1 Ingredients - from the Vale and Pre-Raid Quests
d) Gather the 5 Shavarath Stones - from the Pre-Raid Quests

b) Make a List of the Raw "small" Ingredients for the upgrade and the Shard of Power

- Inferior Focus of Positive Energy: small Arrowhead, small Bone, small Scales, small Stone, Low Energy Cell
- Cloudy Gem of Escalation: small Chain, small Scales, small Shrapnel, small Stone, Low Energy Cell
- Shard of Power - Found in the first Chest of the Raid.(The Shard Binds on pickup)

b) Collect to the "small" ingredients from the first chest in the raid

Step 3 - Complete Lesser Upgrade (Altar of Invasion) Raid Part 1
(Upgrading your Green Steel Item will bind it to you, like equipping it)

a) Take the ingredients to the Altar of Invasion at the end of the first part of the Raid
b) Make the Gem, Focus and Essence
- Place the ingredients for each item (Separately) with the Low Energy Orb into the Altar of Invasion (3 times) and Create the 3 Items
c) Make the Imbued Shard of Power
- Take the Shard of Power (You have to have found one of these in the first raid chest at some time) and the 3 x Ingredients from above and a Low Energy Orb into the altar of invasion and make the Imbued Shard of Power
d) Make the first Upgrade (item binds)
- Put the Shard of Power, Green Steel Item, and a low energy orb into the altar of Invasion and Make your first upgrade.
** the Low Energy Orbs can be bought at the vendor in the third part of the raid so don't plan on buying them at the site of the first upgrade!
- No you cannot go back to the first altar once your reach the second Altar (and Vendor)

Step 4 - Gather Medium Upgrade Ingredients

a) Look up the Medium upgrade path ingredients (Spell Power (+50 spell pts), +2 Cha Skill)
- Ethereal + Escalation + Positive
b) Make a List of the Raw "medium" Ingredients for the upgrade and the Shard of Power
- Ethereal Essence: medium Arrowhead, medium Chain, medium Scale, medium Stone, Medium Energy Cell
- Focus of Positive Energy: medium Arrowhead, medium Bone, medium Scales, medium Stone, Medium Energy Cell
- Gem of Escalation: medium Chain, medium Scales, medium Shrapnel, medium Stone, Medium Energy Cell
- Shard of Great Power - Found in the second Stage Chests of the Raid.(The Shard Binds on pickup)
- Medium Energy Orbs - Can be found in the first Chest of the Raid and From the Vendor* (will need charging) at the Second part of the Raid
** To charge a Depleted Medium Energy Cell you need a junk WEAPON of +6 or better rating and combine it in the Altar of Subjugation
(You will use 2 extra (5 in total) for the upgrade process)
b) Collect to the "medium" ingredients from the first chest in the raid
- 2 x Arrowheads, 2 x Chain, 3 x Scales, 3 x Stones, 1 x Bone, 1 x Shrapnel (There should be 12) + 5 x Medium Energy Cell, 1 x Shard of Power

Step 5 - Complete Great (Medium) Upgrade (Altar of Subjugation) Raid Part 3 (Part 2 of the Raid has no Altar)

a) Take the ingredients to the Altar of Subjugation at the end of the Second part of the Raid
b) Make the Gem, Focus and Essence
- Place the ingredients for each item (Separately) with the Medium Energy Orb into the Altar (3 times) and Create the 3 Items
c) Make the Imbued Shard of Great Power
- Take the Shard of Power (You have to have found one of these in the first raid chest at some time) and the 3 x Ingredients from above and a Low Energy Orb into the altar and make the Imbued Shard of Great Power
d) Make the second Upgrade
- Put the imbued Shard of Great Power, Green Steel Item, and a medium energy orb into the altar and Make your Second upgrade.


Tier 3 Upgrade (Supreme) details to come, but virtually mimics the Medium (Great) upgrade with large components, High energy cells and Shard of Supreme Power.
(I am unsure if there is a vendor for energy cells at part 4 of the raid)

Not from my understanding, but it is a very confusing wording. From my point of view, bound items should be refered as "bound" and atuned items as "attuned" as it seems that there is a difference between them (one receives permanent damage, the other doesn't) and should be refered to differently in item examination screen.

After all, from what I understand, a Skiver that is atuned (and thus receives no more permanent damage) is no different than a non-attuned Skiver.

In high res mode I can see 98 Scarabs, and 98 Signets once the mix magically button is pressed they reduce to 97 and 97 so one each of those and less than 10 of the other ingredients as the 10's digit did not change..

I think that they were all stack of 98 and went to 97 but I cannot verify from the Screenshot.

The eldritch device refuses to allow players to insert certain items into the device as an ingredient for combination. It gives an error message every a player attempts to insert one.

My list is incomplete. I've only been able to test items I currently have on risia. It looks like most weapons, armor, and clothing can be used. Oddly, many of the containers (gem bag, Tome: Binding, Sigil: Frame) are accepted into the device without problem.

go frame by frame and one of the other materials...the one that looks like a dragon shard...is acutally called red tapers....you can see it in the little focus orb

I think Eladrin made reference to the ability to make Khyber Dragonshards out of Khyber Dragonshard Fragments (or vice versa, I can't remember).

It wouldn't make much sense to be able to convert one type of dragonshard (Eberron, Siberys, Khyber) to another.

Stuff you bind this way is bound AND atuned. Stuff bound by the game is just bound and will have to be rebound to be attuned...or so it was said by a dev in one of the threads out there...

I meant in-game description. I know it'll have to be "rebound", but there is nothing telling you "--->THIS SKIVER IS ATTUNED<--", is there?

Once you do the ritual of binding and attuning the item gets a new description added when you examining it saying this item is bound and attuned, it will appear in the same place all the other descriptions place. I'll get a screen shot for ya.

Ok well after putting in a full day on Risia and with some help from 2 new friends and a few old ones. I have made an ingredient chart.

First I'll get to how the crafting system works:

Basically the way I understand the new crafting system to work is,

1. you farm ingredients from the Vale and the mod 6 quests

2. you farm power-stones from the quests(these bind)

3. after you have 40 favor with the 12, and have the 5 power-stones(1 drops in each quest) you gain access to a different eldric device in Miridia, also access to the raid zone is granted.

4. you then can combine the 6 different tier 1 ingredients(pulled from mod 6 chests) to make tier 2 ingredients.

5. (here is where the speculation begins) after beating the first wave in the raid zone a special eldric device appears, at which point you can put in an item, and a number of ingredients. I'm not sure if they will allow tier 1 ingredients in the recipe but if they do I'm sure they will produce mediocre results at best. Also I'm fairly confidant that more rare/powerful ingredients are waiting in deeper points of the raid zone. I'd be willing to bet that each ingredient(or combination) will produce a certain effect in the loot table. This will be the hard part, tracking down what ingredients do what to what type of items.

1st tier is across the top and the 2nd is down the left.

My wizard on Ghallanda has all 48 gems. When Mod 6 is released, I'll be trying all of them. (1 large bag, 1 medium bag, 1 small bag...)

I'd try it on Risia, but Risia keeps telling me I don't have the latest version of the client installed..... so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it still doesn't let me on.

As it stands right now the chart is incomplete, all named slots have been verified, all ??? may not even exist but then they would have 2 recipes for one ingredient.(can't do that if your trying to hit 1200)

If I read this right it looks like you only need to do the five quests to get the stones (one dropping in each quest) to get flagged. That doesn't seem too high a hurdle. Certainly not as easy as TS, but not crazy like the Abbott either. More like the Twilight Forge, which has a good system for flagging.

Well it's not to bad, you could do it in 1 very long session, More on par with titan your right, Except these are the longest quests in the game...seriously. Just the maps alone are comparable in size to GH or the other smaller adventure areas.

I have no doubt that first time grps and pugs won't finish them with 100% success, Buy all the major pots you can they are about to skyrocket in price.

Can I correctly assume that by this you're inferring that early groups will run out of mana in attempting to complete the quests? I'm not certain that will have much of an affect on major mnemonic pots... (or am I incorrectly understanding your meaning?)

fixed it :D

well IMO as a caster you have 4 options.

1. conserve, conserve, conserve. back to the good Ol' days of using a spell only when necessary and not nuking everything u see

2. run out of SP and not contribute till shrine on normal resets or till the end on hard and elite.

3. run out of SP and recall out for mana. ( if the grp waits it will take a long time for you to get back in, yes some have shrines close but, the size of the quests make it so it is a PITA for everyone to wait on you.)

4. run out of SP and drink a pot.


Like I said earlier in this thread I think they are balancing casters in this mod without nerfing them.

Understood... In summary, some casters may have to learn to adapt their tactics a bit... Something more in line with what you'd expect from an explorer, vice a zerger. With that said though, isn't there a new mechanic being implemented with shrines to allow multiple uses?

Tough to find strategic casters these days (other than those soloing), but they certainly are out there. (And I love being the cleric when I get to see one in action!)

I was intrigued when I read this, does it turn it into a clickie? add lightning damage? cause it to fire off chain lightning when it strikes?? can't wait to find out when it goes live.

There are screenshots (which I posted in Quarion's thread). It looks like it made the bow Shocking Burst and also a Chain Lightning clickie. It added an "Aspect of Lightning" ability too, which is a bit unclear on its effects.

If im not wrong probably then this the recipes needed for those adds, following what the pictures showns
At the altar of Invasion was used Shavarath Transformation, with the following items
Shavarath Low Energy Cell, Shard of Power.
By reference what the author saids there was when given the holy effect (maybe too the positive effect)
At the altar of Subjugation was used Shavarath Transformation (and is shown on the text one failure too)
Shard of Great power, Shavarath Medium Energy cell.
And on the picture showns too the same bow with now the shocking burst effect & aspect of lightning.

Thats always a good idea, but I think the very first post about "crafting" was a way to replenish hardness and damage to a weapon, using adamantine ore from BAM.

I may have misread it, but I think thats what was posted. I'm sure someone else will correct or verify.

This is much too complicated for anyone not already playing to get into it. Detail is good, tedium on top of complication not.

Incredient names and the like seem interesting but all the alters and the complete seperation of process between each area (basically teh new stuff has absolutely no connection whatsoever to the old stuff) is ridiculous.

Stuff we find all over the game should have some relevance in other areas. Like some way to trade items from different areas (besides player to player and auction house).

Yea its cool to pretend like we are actually wizards and whatnot spending 50+ hours a week learning about all these different compenents and agents to create super-powerful magical artifacts. But make it accessible to people that still ahve families (that they spend time with), jobs and other hobbies that involve physical exercise. I do want to play DDO, but not at the expense of anything else in my life.

Consider if it takes about 10 hours of play in the same type of instance to find enough of X to do Y then someone who only plays for an hour at a time has no motivation whatsoever to even play the game. Even if they play 1 hour over 10 days, then that means each day they log in to grind out at the same thing for the same stuff, often with no satisfaction. With nothing new or interesting to look forward to, what is the point of even logging in? Just recently got sick of reaver, which was my favorite quest cuz it only demanded 20 minutes of attention. With nothing else like this on the docket coming soon.... Whats in it for me? And I'm sure plenty of trolls will say good riddance to me, we don't need casual gamers anyway right? Well I just hope you guys ahve enough money to support these devs and tech support people for such a small niche game. I really just want all the great and interesting ideas that are the strength of this game to be less time demanding for casual players, and for more new players. Is that too much to ask? I'm sure Turbine would make more money in the long run by catering to a larger, although less avid fan base. Its not like people who play 40 hours a week pay any more than people playing 5 or so.

But as with anything else only the people putting in a ton of time are going to get the best stuff. Dragonscale armor, tome/sheild trade-ins come to mind.

Except now it sounds like they will have a low end craftable stuff for people that don't want to devote a large amount of time in game for. Yes the items won't be as good but they will still get to build them.

This is ok, I don't want the best items in the game for everyone on every server(what fun would that be).

I really think they(turbine) are doing a good job at balancing the gap between 30+ hrs a week players and <10 hrs a week players. ( tapestries and GH relics come to mind here)

So should one assume that the drop rate of the ore in BAM would increase since ore is required for the Eldritch transformer. I mean before, for a party of 6, there would be....what.....9 pieces of ore per run for all to share (It's been so long I can't remember).....Or maybe you won't need that many ore.

lvl 14s should be able to make solo ore runs in BAM. I been collecting ore the last couple of days with my paladin. The only thing I don't like is each of your slots in the bank or bag can only hold 30 ores.

Looks like the best of the crafting will be only available to people who get the right raid reward...

Add trial and error with effects means multi raid runs;

the article is up, and yes it looks like the regular stone of change can only bind and do the admantine ritual for now, onlythe raid machines using green steel weapons can make the uber stuff

Eldritch Rituals – An attuned item can have one line of Eldritch Rituals placed upon it. Thus far, the only ritual that the Twelve have found is called the Adamantine Ritual, which increases the hardness and durability of an item. This ritual requires Adamantine Ore and Soul Gems: Essence of Earth (produced by the Trap the Soul spell), and can be placed on an item up to five times (though later applications increase only the durability of the item). In future modules, many more Eldritch Rituals will become available, but placing an Eldritch Ritual on an item will remove any others that are currently on the item.


Basically the stone of change can only add one effect to an item, compared to the raid machines the stone of change is going to be comparitively weaker

1. farm ingredients

2. complete all 5 quests

3. make your sigal after you have the 40 favor from the 12 and all 5 power stones

4. charge the power stones in the alter of fecundity via throwing in a trash +6 weapon/item in with it.( my guess is the blank is a green steel version of the item you put in)

5. it then gives you a green-steel item blank

6. use the subsequent alters in the raid zone to upgrade this "blank" item

that how I understand it, plz post if your read otherwise.

I added the known green steel combos to my chart(same link) (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p0VLAaQgwZEhecNa1EUXjEA), it only has gpk's and the one from the guide but its a place to start.

Also I have some info about the alter of invasion, we made it there last night after beating the first battle in the raid.

The Sharvarath signet stone, eberron energy cell, and all first tier ingredients, and some second tier(I only had 2 to test at the time)
WILL NOT fit in the alter of invasion.

also new ingredients from the chest in the raid(these will fit)

small twisted shrapnel
small gnawed bone

So, if I am reading this right, for each Green Steel Blank we want to try playing with, it means re-running the 5 Vale Quests to get the 5 items to combine into the signet stone?

That's actually pretty cool, as it will give a good reason to re-run those quests for those who are already flagged.... more blanks to play with in the Raid. I guess the other question is if I go into the Raid with 2 or more Green Steel blanks, can I upgrade both, or is it one-use-per-character?

Guess that is something else for us to find out.

i might have mised this....so i'm holding on to a +5 frost great axe,,so +6 total mod....when that gets changed to a green iron does it lose the frost and keep the +5? same question with a +3 DWA of backstabbiing +5(total mod +7),,,,will it lose the +5 backstabbing and keep the +3? how does that work?

So the + to a weapon(ex +5 frost great axe)doesnt matter. As long as the total modifer is above +6. if it is a +7 or +8 will it make a better green weapon? does the green weapon have a + to it? can armor be put into it? sorry i have alot of questions i just want to understand this b4 i start saving stuff.

That is not how it appears to work.

The Green Steel weapon blank recipe appears to NOT use any existing weapon at all. It uses the Shavarath Stone you make from the 5 items you get out of the 5 new Vale quests, and some of the Tier 2 Ingredients. No weapon. The whole using a Weapon part is to power up the Power Cell items... and it would appear that it "uses" (aka destroys) the weapon in the process. We have not found any recipes that upgrade existing items (like your GreatAxe) to add new stuff, other than the Adamantine Ritual to add durability to an item... YET!

But all indications are that the Green Steel Weapons come from the Shavarath Sigil thingy and Tier 2 Ingredients... NOT existing weapons.

EDIT: So sad about that... I bought a nice +5 Khopesh of Righteousness off the House D Vendor the night before the Mod in hopes of starting with that and adding stuff onto it! :(

There was some talk (or hints, I can't recall) early on that suggested you'd be able to get non-weapon raid loot out of this raid.

It may just be a question of finding the right recipe to make gloves or armor or whatever.

i asked about this back in december after the first interview here http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=130257

Ok i know that it was mentioned in the ten ton hammer interview about the new raid items crafting and what not, but they said weapons not items..... so does this mean we will only see customizable weapons for this raid, or will we see other items also? (say a small selection outside of just weapons, boots, neck, and helm maybe or some such)?

Assuming that the 11 Tier 2 components are all that exist, and that three Tier 2 components are required to make a Green Steel Blank weapon (plus the stone and energy cell), then there are 165 possible combinations of the three Tier 2 components (3 combinations out of 11). Cool, it looks like someone already found the recipe for boots so that's all the confirmation I needed. I'm a little disappointed that there is no magical attribute to the boots since the weapons come out as +5 and a greater die, but oh well. At least we have something to look forward to. For me, it's goggles without Int, Spot, or Blindness immunity on them....I don't care what as long as it's not those 3.

I am also interested in hearing the answer to MTs question, if I mix a wrong mix will any/all of my ingredients be destroyed (especially the stone I created from doing the 5 quests)

I am sure if it fails..ingredients are GOOONE...

Just an aside, since I haven't read all of the thread this may have been mentioned.

The green steel weave boots (http://www.ppc.com.au/downloads/ja50n/green&#37;20steel%20weave%20boots.jpg) has in it the description:

"Taint of Shavarath: Green steel items thirst for pain and suffering. While weapons can sate their bloodlust on opponents, accessories and clothing can not. Wearing multiple items that bear the Taint of Shavarath creates dangerous imbalances of energy as the item feeds upon the wearer. Perhaps there is a way to cleanse this item..."

I remember from Risia that there is an NPC in Meridia on top of one of the pillars that says to you when you initiate dialog..."I sense no taint upon you, how boring" or something like that. I will check later when I finally get to play Mod 6.

EDIT: the NPC is Tehinna <Barrister of Justice> "I sense nothing of interest upon you (character name), and that bores me" End conversation.

When items are used inside the Eldritch device i have found only energy cells are consumed. everything is usually fine. Once you make an item those compoonets are used < such as a green stell item will use up your signet stone, so if you didnt get what you want go run the 5 pre-quest again >

Now once you have that item you must combine it with some items + a shard of power in the raid pre the devs explantion of how to get raid loot.

This is mere speculation but you have the option of putting either minor ,medium , or major effects onto your green steel item. Being that there are three alters in the raid, beginning alter after first part only takes small items , the second is after part 3 and only takes medium and I assume the after the 5th part you can use the highest tier items.

Now judging from the Devs picture it will take 5 items to start the process of adding an effect to ur raid loot.
part 1, Shard of power, part 2 shavarath energy cell part 3-5 must be Tier 2 ingrediants made from one of the eldritch devices in the Pre-raid. combine these together to make a special shard of power.

Once this shard is created you can take the shard or power and combine it with the Green weapon using those two items and of course another enrgy cell.

adding anymore effects seems to take shards of Power so covet these items and remember they bind on aqcuire

the boot description says they are "tainted" but also says perhaps they can be cleaned....

there's more to the boots (and im guessing other clothing/jewelry) than just giving them enhancements, you have to cleanse them somehow, im guessing with a recipe as well

Just some thoughts.

First

Clothing are all Filaments

Weapons are all Ore of Travali

Second.

In the raid you need to get the tier 1 items (infernal chain, demon scales, arrow heads etc) to make something like: inferior fire essence.

Then you take several of these tier 2 ingredients you make and add then to a shard.

So maybe cloudy + fire essence + earth essence + shard of power + energy cell = imbued shard

Then you take your green steel weapon + imbued shard + energy cell.

My suggestion would be to get to level 3 of the raid and buy alot of the small energy cells, maybe as many as u can hold :D

Then farm part 1 over and over to figure out the recipes. We need to figure out all the level 2 ingredients then create a chart to see what we can make from those. Level 1 is easy and can be done with less resources (time, plat), so just use it to figure out the recipes. Then once you get the recipes down, you can apply those at the higher levels. (small vs. large demon scales....etc). That is where you are going to get the really cool stuff.

Use this chart if you'd like to help find a NEW greensteel recipe it has all reported failures and success.

Please post all failures as well as successes.

Just in case someone wants to try for a weapon not tried by the above table I mapped it out and here are the missing combinations. (Note that weapons seem to take a Wonderous Item, Ore and a Taper. You will need a Signet Stone and Power Orb also with these combinations):

Should probably make a new topic with a more correc title. I mean this guide goes far beyond what the stone of change can do. General Eldritch Device Cookbook would work.

And btw you have the raid altars mislabled.. I got to see all 3 so here are the real names:
After you beat phase 1 you will find:
Altar of Invasion: This altar only accept small ingredients. Not medium or large - they will not even go on there.
You find the small ingredients only from the first 4 chests (2 in phase 1, 2 in phase2)

After your beat phase 3 you will find:
Altar of Subjugation: this altar only accepts medium ingredients. Not small or large.
You find the ingredients only in phase 3 (it has 4 chests to make up for it).

After you beat the entire raid you will find:
Altar of devastation: This is the final altar and only accept large ingredients. Not small or medium.
You find the ingredients only in phase 4 and 5 (2 in phase 4, 2 in phase 5)

This is the ultimate altar and only onlly accepts the rarest ingredients. The final chests seem to drop some other stuff too, where as all the other chest ingredients were exactly the same - except bigger.. IE Devil scales comes in small, medium and large. But the Splintered Horn i found (weird yellow background) only fits in the final altar, and has no small/medium/large designation.

Another important thing about the raid:
Altho you will find a couple power cells, you will probably need more then you could find.. So after you beat phase 3 you will find a undead ferryman who will sell you several items, including small medium and large powercell (there expensive tho)

Edit: Someone see if I'm on the right track here - try combining Fillment of Toil, Green Taper, and Wonderous oil, then Wonderous balm. I bet at least one of the two will make an item. I'd try it, but I need 8 more favor :(

Looking back at the list of tried combinations this would make sense and it does follow this pattern. (Isnt it ore and not oil? not sure since I havent been able to find a twig yet). You need to add the Signet Stone, ore/oil, and a power orb to the combinations listed.


Jewel+Yellow Taper
Scarab+Blue Taper
Balm+Blue Taper

I have not analized the item (clothing/jewelry line yet so not sure what else we have there). If you try one of these please let us know the results. (Prays for a rapier and basterd sword) :)

hmm weird the recipes but great work guys, im still getting on work to get access to those machines :p

anyway folllowing the patterns guessed from the recipes found
as said on the other post green & violet seems mix with filament series and the other 3 mix with ore series

but anyone tried the combos filament + ore series? as i cant test yet but.. im believe firmly that
filament/ore/1 wonderous item would make a type of armor as we just have 4 kinds of armors (light/medium/heavy & docent) and no records found on this posts with sucess or failure with those combinations.

So im too im believe that ore + 2 wonderous mix could make the lost weapon types as just 6 mixes left there could fit well on the lost weapons ;)

robe im not sure where could to fit though, neither the shield types but in that case i could believe that the could go with filament and ore combination too, maybe with the tapers

You're assuming full plate, half plate, chain, leather, hide, etc. don't all get their own recipe.

correct the blanks are tradeable because the devs felt it wasn't fair if you got something you didn't want in the first few days figuring out the recipes.

We almost certainly are missing a set of combinations. Here is what we are missing:

2 Jewelry/Clothing (ring and trinket)
30 different weapons (includes 4 thrown weapons)
14 armors
4 shields (not counting wooden and steel separately)

That's 50 potential items we might need to find.

From the way I see it:

red, blue, and yellow tapers + ore make weapons( = 12 )

Green, violet tapers + filiments make items ( = 8 )

BUT because of lack of data we are unsure about ore+filiments+taper/wonderous. ( that would = 9 BTW )

robe, padded, leather, studded, chainshirt, breastplate, chainmail, scale, half-plate, banded, full-plate = 11 (And I'm sure I forgot 2-4)
so thats is possible, ( need more fail data )

Perhaps its ore+filiments+wonderous( 4 BTW)

robe, light , med, heavy, more plauseable I think,

But IMO guys we really may be done(with greensteel), I'll update whatever you find today but I'm going to spend my Sunday raiding ....ALOT :D

Quick questions to see if I have this right.

Say to fix dragonscale armor so it takes less damage, first I put in the armor and the approx number of khyber shard fragments (144 or so) and that will do it for the attonement part.

Then if I want to put adam. ritual to harden it. First I get 1000 khyber fragments, and make 10 tiny khyber shards. Then my wiz can go out and trap the soul of 10 low level earth elements, pick up the gems. (Are these trade/ mail able?)

Then I put the armor in, the adam. ore from bam, and the 10 soul gems, and mix together correct?

If this is correct can it be done from the two outer altars?

Last one for now I promise, what on earth do I do with the siberys dragonshard fragments other than turn them into flawed dragonshards and then into imperfect dragonshards. Its late and maybe I'm missing something but what good are siberys imperfect dragonshards good for?

the imperfect can be made into perfect or regular as there called dragon shards prly takes 10 imperfect for that one too and dragon scale armor is already bound so don't need to do the binding ritual and ive been slacking today haven't got around to trying any of the "missing" combines i still think its possible for a few more weapon types to be out there plus the armor i might need to dig into this cant seem to get that many ppl to help with my trials tho

Not sure what good unholy would do in a game where 90% of the mobs are evil... Devs musta been smokin that day.

Also, does anyone know if there's an upgrade to improve the natural crit range of a weapon? Not like keen, but make it a natural 19-20 or something. I'd really like to make my bow have a wider crit range.

There are some Neutral monsters, and Running With The Devils has you facing Good Outsiders.

Unholy doesn't work on Neutral monsters, only Good ones.

"Pure Evil" or something similar would work on Neutral monsters, but would require Evil alignment (or the appropriate UMD) to wield, and Pure Good does the same thing (hits Neutral monsters) plus it hits Evil monsters too.

Sure, I was just saying there are other creature alignments than "Evil" and we, in fact, fight a few of those in much of the content.

First let me say all you guys are doing a hell of a job figuring this stuff out... my brain hurts :)

Question I have is that I have been running around the vale alot looting the rare chests and I have managed to gather up 3-4 raw of each raw ingredients for the stone of fecundity, but damned if I can find chipmunk funk!

I appears as though certain raw ingredients drop from certain zones in the vale and certain quests. Does anyone have this information? Or is the funk just rare?

Even though the dragon armour is already bound..you still need to attune it with the binding ritual.

I use my ingredients to make my green steel kopesh.

Does this eat my signet? If so do I still get access to the raid area or do I have to make another signet?

As of right now the only thing that can be done to regular and bound raid items, is have them attuned and the adamantine ritutal. Turbine has indicated that more recipes are coming in future releases.

Goggle upgrades 2/3 ATM

Basics:
+3 to all Charisma Skills (yes including UMD this stack to everything)
1/charge a day of True Resurrection (Full life when resurrected)
Wiz VI: +150 mana to wiz/clerics/etc etc 300 mana to sorcs
Elemental Spell power: another 50 to wiz/clerics/etc 100 to sorcs
Total 200 mana/ 400 to sorcs

Looks like these items have a lesser and medium power...with 1 more to come...wow thats powerful and if the rumours are correct then you get a special ability if you get them all correct..then wow..

Looks like there is a limitation on Equipment, that if you wear more than 1 green steel equipment item you get a negative effect. "taint of Shavarath" but it is proposed you can remove this.

Weapons do not have this problem because they feed on killing others.....

All weapons look to be 1 mganatude of damage larger than normal.

I'll post the known damage die next to the weapon type.. Greatsword = 3d6 for example.

Correct me if I am wrong, max upgrades on any item is 3...one from each altar in the raid?

yes looks like 3 is the number of uprades...see the goggles above that have had 2 upgrades..
But it might be more than 2 effects..

Also the same shard seems to give different propoerties to different items.
See longsowrd and bow below with different result from negative energy qaffinity.


Shavarath Transformation - Negative Energy on Weapon:
Materials: Shard of Power, Shavarath Low Energy Cell. Created: +5 Green Steel Weapon
Benefit: Kire : +5 Green Steel Longbow becomes +5 Lieutenant Green Steel Longbow. Has negative energy absorption 15% and Negative energy affinity. DangerFisher : +5 Green Steel Lonsgsword becomes +5 Unholy Longsword.

It eats your signet, you key only once for raid, want another blank get another signet

Screenies of nice items...and speculated upgrade item

Commander Googles of Wizardry VI (Stacking bonus to all Charisma skills + 3), True Resurection, Wizardry VI, +50 Spell points (ie 200 all up) ..Still 1 upgrade to come ??Apsect of positive energy and positive neergy affinity seem to be the upgrades here.
Because the googles get the commander name, I presume it gets special bonus upgrades because the "perfect/predestined" upgrades were put on it.

Green Steel Warhammer +6 Dex, +3 Stacking Dex Bonus, Delayed Blast Fireball
Looks like the fire affinity gives +1 stacking bonus, and aspect of fire gives +2 dex stacking bonus with incineration
Notice the Warhammer does not get a name meaning it may not be the "perfect upgrades" for the bonus skills.

just tried ore+filaments+wonderous jewel and ore+filament+wonderous blam both were failures edit jut did with a jewel fails also
edit #2 ore+2 wonderous = failure tried oil and balm

NO...

But he told us the first upgrade gave Wiz VI and Cahrisma +1
So We can guess the following...

The lesser/small/first upgrade of positive energy affinity on the Altar of invasion

Shard Formulation - Positive Affinity:(AN EDUCATED GUESS AT THIS STAGE ONLY)
Materials: Inferior Focus of Positive Energy, Diluted Material Essence, Cloudy Gem of Escalation, Shavarath Low Energy Cell
Benefit: Creates Shard of Power with Positive Energy

This shard used on a bow...gives holy....on gogles I think it must give Wiz VI and Cahrisma +1 Stacking

Then the next upgrade, I wont speculate because we dont know the ingredients but is done on the altar of subjugation
