Here is my suggestion to make the repair a useful skill. We all know right now repair is onlu used to help warforged get more hp at a shrine, or when you use a repair kit to help an incapacitated warforged to bring him back to 1 hp. Let's allow players to attempt a repair on a piece of equipment in quest, you roll vs your repair skill for a repair of 1 damage. But wait, people will take hours to repair all their stuff while we wait for them, let it be only one per lvl per rest so a lvl 1 character can do it once between each rest, and a lvl 14, 14 times between each rest. Give it a very short animation or no animation at all. How this would work, if you fail your roll, no repairs, same if you roll a 1, no chances of perm damage. if you succeed, you repair 1 damage on your choosen equipment. For this, we would use repair kits to make them useful and wanted once more. This would use the repair skill icon, and you must have the piece of equipment you want to repair selected when you use the skill.

Some people wants the repair skill to have something to do when we repair at an npc, but when the repair is done at an npc, we do not repair our stuff, but they are doing it for us, and our repair skill shouldn't influence on that.

Any toughts on this idea. All positive and negative feedbacks are welcome.

Ooh, it would take repair kits? That would make sure there's still a cost involved, and not so you run into a quest/area and do it for free, shrine, do it, exit, and repeat, just because it's free.

Already been suggested in a similar form. Just look for a real long thread about the deathpenalty changes.
