I think it would be a much appreciated small thing if you could make it so that a character's icon is not set to the highest level class he has taken, but instead set to an option that the player has of the classes that he has taken.

This would answer questions without having to ask them. Battle cleric?

I could see some people using it to be silly, but overall I think it would be decent.

EDIT - Changed 'some some' to 'see some'.. silly fingers.

Let me(once again) agree with adding this option.

Some players will always blur the lines, but it would help when putting parties together.

Well, this would be a solution to several of my character's problems when it comes to leveling and watching the icon change nearly each level (when I made my Barbarian/Rogue/Fighter his icon changed every level from level 1 to level 9, same with my bard/ranger).

Although, for the most part, I just click a person and inspect their classes and biography if I want to know more about them (or assume more about them).

Better yet, simply add in a wide variety of icons for each archetype and then allow people to select the one they want.

Bow user, TWFer, THFer, Sword-and-Boarder, Healer, Battlecleric, Battlebard, Healing-bard, Nuker, Enchanter... and so on.

Down with class icons, I say we have a mini-portrait of the character instead!

I mean, it's completely possible to build a fighter that is a ranged specialist, that focuses on CCing enemies using cursespewing, paralyzing, banishing, smiting, and disrupting bows or xbows (more likely a heavy repeater). You would have to use the fighter icon, but most people consider that to be the 'tank' icon. I say just go with portraits and be done with it.

I wouldnt mind seeing them let us put more than one of the current icons up. For my BC, who almost every single pug ive been in are convinced I will not cast a single cure spell, could simply list the ftr icon with maybe a smaller clr icon after it. Guess that wouldnt really work for showing what type of caster a specific wizard might be though.

I just think a certain amount of blandness helps groups form also, "oh youre an enchanter wizard?, sry we need a necromancer" even though a wizard could easily have just about every spell from both schools.

Yah...would be nice.

At 6th level I took a level of ranger on my rogue...
Ranged skills...other stuff...was a win/win! (somtin like 5 feats...yay!) :D

And every where I am now the ranger with rogue skills... :(

well...everywhere but the little party bar list.

Al fama bet a cull is no good!

But then they will have to make one for Village Idiot!!!

Because that is my playstyle...and character of choice.

Battle bard..
Icon of someone playing air lute on a sword

AFK...icon...

Not sure if this is the exact same thing, but I don't think you should really see class breakdown either. Once you get your new spiffy icon you would just be level 12 TWF icon dude regardless of how you got there. I mean how can someone tell you are a fighter 10/pally 2 whatever just by clicking on you? Never made sense to me...

Don't forget one for Mules!

Seriously I have two, one with Mule in her name, and my old retired lvl 9 Sorcerer - who I have set as Anonymous because I got tired of explaining to Tempest Spine group leaders that my high level Mule has no spell components so would not be a good choice for his run...

Hmmm...

I want an icon of a wrench (or one of the repair spells) because my sorcerer was originally built to repair Warforged (and mechanical cows). Of course, I would settle for an icon of a cow because that would take care of each of my characters in one fell swoop. :p

Hmmm...I'd love to see all kinds of new icons for this. I have several characters who have no multi classing, but definitely dont fit the traditional role for their classes.

I like where MT took this. That would be a very nice addition. Now, which Dev do we talk to about this? ;)

I am always amused when HeeHaw and Jassack Carrystuff, my guys, get invited to groups.
