View Full Version : Guide of XP and Favor for quests

MrWizard

Okay..so I am gonna attempt this.

Objective: To go level by level and list quests, ballpark the xp, add the favor, and try to eventually add information on dungeons.

I have changed the original post becasue without turbine helping, it would be impossible to make a guide for dungeons...and they are not helping, trust me.

The second post of this thread will show a lot of the information summarized, level by level.

This guide is basically looking at your character moderately following a level by level approach. Obviously some dugeons will be skipped by you, but the numbers should be about the same.

Favor and XP guide by Level

NOTE: I am being highly conservative on the experience given pertaining to bonuses and optionals. I have added 20% assuming there is no venture to make conquest or ransack and the like. In my own play, without seeking the bonuses, it is more like 50% when you factor in the optional xp and # of mobs killed. I find in my personal experience, by the time I am doing level 6 quests on elite I am usually 7.3 to 8.1 level, but in this guide you will be a bit lower.

Please do post your experience levels if you do this method, I will add your xp totals too.

All level 1 quests
Total quests = 14
(solo only dungeons included in count)

Normal Hard Elite
----33----52----71

Favor for 1st level quest = 71
House Kundarak = 2
The Coin Lords = 57
House Jorasco = 6
House Deneith = 6

Total base xp (ballpark) = 3672 + 2570 (70%) = 6,242
(50% elite first time bonus and average 20% in optionals/bonuses)
Total assumes only one run in the dungeon, on elite, without trying to get all bonuses or optionals. Also assumes someone is 3rd level in dungeon.

Level 2 gained at 5,000 xp, congratulations.

All level 2 quests
Total Quests = 19

Normal Hard Elite
---60 ----120-----180

Favor for 1st level quest = 180
The Coin Lords = 75
Silver Flame = 30
Free Agents = 63
House Phiarlin = 12

Total base xp (ballpark) = 14,555 + (70%) = 24,743
(50% elite first time bonus and average 20% in optionals/bonuses)
Total assumes only one run in the dungeon, on elite, without trying to get all bonuses or optionals. Also assumes someone is 4th level in dungeon.

Level 3 gained at 20,000 xp, congratulations.

Summary of Level 1 and 2 quests.

Number of quests = 33

Total favor on elite - 251
The Coin Lords = 132
Silver Flame = 30
Free Agents = 63
House Phiarlin = 12
House Kundarak = 2
House Jorasco = 6
House Deneith = 6

Benchmarks-
Gained 2 levels, you are now Level 3
Extra backpack for 75 coin lord favor

Total XP= 30,985

All level 3 quests
Total Quests = 13

Normal Hard Elite
---43 ----86-----129

Favor for 3rd level quests = 129
The Coin Lords = 54
Silver Flame = 36
Free Agents = 21
House Phiarlin = 18

Total base xp (ballpark) = 12,400 + (70%) = 21,080
(50% elite first time bonus and average 20% in incidental optionals/bonuses)
Total assumes only one run in the dungeon, on elite, without trying to get all bonuses or optionals. Also assumes someone is 5th level in dungeon.

Level 4 gained at 50,000 xp, congratulations.

Summary of Level 1-3 quests.

Number of quests = 46

Total favor on elite - 380
The Coin Lords = 186
Silver Flame = 66
Free Agents = 84
House Phiarlin = 30
House Kundarak = 2
House Jorasco = 6
House Deneith = 6

Benchmarks -
you are now level 4
Extra backpack for 150 coin lord favor. Need a portable hole and 100,000 gold pieces.
Free Agents of 75 gets you better heal, repair, and thieves tools.

Total XP= 52, 065

All level 4 quests
Total Quests = 11

Normal Hard Elite
---35 ----70-----105

*not sure what proof of poison is so I assumed 9 on elite*

Favor for 4th level quests = 105
The Coin Lords = 33
Silver Flame = 6
Free Agents = 21
House Phiarlin = 27
House Deneith = 18

Total base xp (ballpark) = 13,543 + (70%) = 23,024
(50% elite first time bonus and average 20% in incidental optionals/bonuses)
Total assumes only one run in the dungeon, on elite, without trying to get all bonuses or optionals. Also assumes someone is 6th level in dungeon.

Total XP is now 75,089, next level at 90,000. (note, if you followed chains like TR, catacombs, and the like you will be 5th level and well over the 90k needed. It is safe to assume you will have had to repeat a few dungeons to open on elite, especially the chains. This could put you close to 6th level at this time.)

Summary of Level 1-4 quests.

Number of quests = 57

Total favor on elite - 485
The Coin Lords = 219
Silver Flame = 72
Free Agents = 105
House Phiarlin = 57
House Kundarak = 2
House Jorasco = 6
House Deneith = 24

Benchmarks -
you are now level 4, possibly 5
If you did the TR chain in addition to the level by level you will have house P buff favor at 75.
If you finished catacombs you should have 75 favor with Silver Flame and now have cheaper heals from clerics in the inn.

Total XP= 75, 089

All level 5 quests
Total Quests = 15

Normal Hard Elite
---49 ----98-----147

Favor for 5th level quests = 147
The Coin Lords = 21
Silver Flame = 45
Free Agents = 15
House Phiarlin = 18
House Deneith = 18
House K = 18

Total base xp (ballpark) = 15,794 + (70%) = 26,849
(50% elite first time bonus and average 20% in incidental optionals/bonuses)
Total assumes only one run in the dungeon, on elite, without trying to get all bonuses or optionals. Also assumes someone is 7th level in dungeon.

Total XP is now 101, 938. You have gained level 5, congratulations

NOTE: At this point I have to reiterate something. The xp is a ballpark. The amount of bonus xp, even without purposely doing conquest, ransack and the like, is usally about 50% due to HAVING to complete many xp earning optionals and resulting bonuses for numbers killed, traps disabled, vandal bonuses and such. In real play it is around 50%... Your xp adjusted from the 20% I posted and the 50% it will probably be would pretty much put you at 6th level or within a few xp of it. If you had done the chain quests you are halfway through 6th at this point.

Summary of Level 1-5 quests.

Number of quests = 72

Total favor on elite - 632
The Coin Lords = 240
Silver Flame = 117
Free Agents = 120
House Phiarlin = 75
House Kundarak = 20
House Jorasco = 6
House Deneith = 42

Benchmarks -
you are now level 5, possibly 6
House P 75 favor obtained, house P buffs.

Total XP= 101, 938

Time breakdown for level 5 dungeons and below....
72 dungeons, averaging 4 minutes each, 5 hours of playtime.
In 5 hours you are level 5/6, have 150+ coin lords, 75= in house P, silverflame, and free agents.

If you spend the time to do all optionals and get conquest it can take three to four times as long to do quests. The difference between vandal and ransack is 3%, between onslaught and conquest is 10%, 2-7% for traps...for a total of about 20% increase in xp.

Doing it the long way, 72 dungeons, averaging 12 minutes each, 14.4 hours.
20% increase in xp for a total of around 123,000 total xp.

Note on Lowbie running quests to get an extra 10 or 20% xp.

Running lowbie is a great challenge and quite fun, but for quick leveling it is a HUGE time sink. In quick leveling it all comes down to getting xp fast. Making an extra 10 even 30% for being a lowbie is quickly lost by taking 4 or 5 times as long to do the quest. Stormcleave is a perfect example. That quest can easily be done in about 15 minutes without doing optionals. For an extra 20% I have seen people in there for an hour or even two hours.
Lowbie runs are challenging, but not a fast way to level.

THis hasnt been done to this extent because its pretty much insane to try to collect all of this info. You'd have to be incredibly bored.
There are several Guides already that provide the Important info.

Time to COmpleteion is going to vary a LOT group to group...

The second link that Impaqt posted has the base XP for all quests. From there, its simple math to extrapolate the amounts you get for aggression, onslaught, conquest, etc.

I can see what MrWizad is trying todo.. Some quests you cant get to COnquest, Ransack, or trap bonus' ANd it would be col to know exactly how many Breakables, Kills, or traps you need to do to hit the bonus'

Its just not realistic to compile all that info imo.

Kudos to you if you take this project on.

well, I actually wanted to make a program for it..but turbine has refused to send any information..

a simple csv or excel spreadsheet with the dungeons, bases at all levels, and favor would make most of this a 10 second thing...but unfortunately they do not want to help..so no program..

what you could have done with the program though...

map out your levels for fast leveling or favor... fastest runs, most xp, etc...
Some dungeons you would want to do optionals, some you would not..

The program could help you tremendously in time saving while leveling...and not wasting time getting sack when you cannot in some dungeons...

Kind of a guide on leveling, favor, and in some dungeons a guide to what is there (number of traps, etc...)

so...I will slowly build it..right now listing favor with a level by level summary...maybe turbine will send me a dang sheet.

I do not want to plagarize the great work of someone who already did this, but I may ask if he would allow me to integrate it..

Plus.....turbine changes the values at their whim...base, optionals, numbers for sack and conq...etc....it is impossible to compute without their help...only through the community can we get a handle on it.

How much is the base on all three levels of diff? is it the same..I never noticed.

The base is the same, but you'll see a difference (even without the +50% first time elite bonus) because the level of the quest is now higher than normal, granting more of a bonus if it's over your level and less of a penalty if you're above the level of the quest..

Feel free to use any info you want out of my quest list as well, though mine is only data complete through about level 7 or 8, Rowan's is probably better. But take a look and see if it helps you any. Link in my sig.

The bummer is...if turbine gave me the info i need, you could go level by level, house by house....etc... and look at things in different lights.

You could also assume the extras and bonuses...and have it magically appear.

IT would be a cool tool to map out leveling and xp..as well as favor...but oh well, I have changed it to a level by level approach only....sorry

I know they change the xp on a whim... it's why I avoided putting xp on my guide for so long...

The hubby and I spend a weekend once every month or so going into EVERY quest in the game... we take it level by level... and if we need to do chains, we do chain quests... it's time consuming, hard work and just about frustrating when you realize only one quest out of a chain will have changed 100 points one way or another LOL

OK, while I would love Turbine to send me some info, it's all out there for me to find... and besides... I don't do the catacombs anymore... unless it's an XP police kinda weekend...

MrWizard... I use RSS to keep my link up to date, so when you check it and I have changed something you should see the changes...

See ya in Stormreach,

I can most definitely agree with how helpful it would be if you could somehow tap into the information Turbine has in regards to quest EXP. At once point I was going to do something along those lines, but I figured that I would go a different route and now play around with finding monster stats and dispelling monster stat related myths (or find bugs).

Although, part of the fun for me is the whole process of figuring out "what is the relation?" or "does this make sense?" or "why the heck did they do that?". Being I know Turbine will never (or rather, is very unlikely) to release the information on this type of stuff I consider it part of my duty as an curious DDO player to break down that barrier and find out the information for myself (and anyone else interested).

Either way, good luck on this project.

I have seen your work, very impressive amount of work and pretty cool how you went about it..

Turbine not giving info makes it harder to make cool things for the game..

I tried making a quest checkoff sheet...but I am not gonna type all that info out...turbine can give me a list or we can go without it...

LOL...no..

Name of quest, base xp, favor, house, level on norm, if in a chain which number, location of quest (desert, gianthold, etc)etc...

so you can then, using a good program online, search and examine whatever you want in whatever way you want.

And it would be real cool to log in and have a check sheet for your toons....check each time you do a difficulty so you xp ho's can get all that bonus and not skip a setting....or redo one you have not.

The current list is lacking abit and I can put all that info into a database so users can easily search and view things the way they want to...

And if the info changes all they have to do is export the data again in a file.
All that info is in their database now...all of it...and very easy to export.

versus the huge amount of man hour to put all that together again....I think it would be agood tool, but am not getting paid by the hour by turbine...so it will not be built.
