I am making a character on argonnessen...thinking I would like to attempt a warforged fighter/arcane (either wizard or sorc). I am new to the server so I do not have access to 32 pt builds. I am trying to create a efficient fighter that can self heal, but I dont want to take too many arcane levels so as to be an ineffective fighter. Thx in advance

For a basic 28-point WF, probaly the easiest way to do this is to make a fighter and take one wiz (or sorc) level. Use wands for healing, then you don't have to worry about arcane spell failure from adamantine body. I know wands are expensive at low levels, but if you play carefully you won't need much healing anyway before you get enough cash (and market access) to buy at least a repair light wand. Downside is you won't be able to use Reconstruct scrolls, and will have to rely on repair serious (and the occasional looted or purchased-at-auction repair critical) wands for big heals - that makes healing slow once you get to higher levels. But to be able to use reconstruct scrolls [reliably], you'd have to have a lot more arcane levels or a lot of UMD, both of which would be tough to get on a 28-point mostly-fighter without access to tomes, raid gear, etc.

While it may be difficult to replicate without a 32 point build please use The Arcane Psycho (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=116254) thread written by my buddy and guildie Nick. It is a 13wizard/1fighter with full buffing capabilities, and access to every arcane spell in the game. He is a two handed fighting specialist, who's defense relies on arcane buffs, warforged immunities, and DPS.

The build is written in a dwarf format, but Nick has rerolled the character as warforged and the build is basically the same. Use a similar template, and add any twists you might want.

If you're just lookin for somethinig easy to level 3pal/1sorc/xftr

You can use Healing (help your party out) and repair wands(keep yourself alive) and ya have some slightly better saves due to Divine Grace and are immune to Fear.

Its a nice little build nothing special or complicated. I usually take Adamantine Body and every level I can (except 1 level for a Toughness Feat) I take Improved DR. By the end its like having Stoneskin up permanently.

I'm pretty sure he wants an arcane fighting build, not a fighter with an arcane splash for self healing.

IMHO the Arcane Psycho is more survivable a melee combatant than 95% of pure fighters. Reconstruct, FTW.

arcane fighter... Build a bard with high UMD and 28+ charisma.

10 BAB instead of 7 at L14
Self and group buffing/healing/crowd control
Can wear light armor without spell failure
Proficient with Longsword, Rapier, shortbow, and simple weapons

Maybe....but he also said he didn't want to take too many arcane levels, and that he was fairly new (28-point build, and low on resources) - that's why I suggested the simple route (splash for wand use).

Well then I would like to post this and dispel the notion that arcane levels make a character an ineffective fighter, they do not. 13wiz/1ftr can hit just fine, end-game.

Yup... If I had a slot or two left I'd make one of those... or at least something like it... but my Argo list is full.

Personally, i find 13wiz/1ftr and 12sor/2pal great combos.

13wis/1ftr- this gives the character full spell access with good meleeing abilities. As noted above, the arcain psycho is a great meleer, however the low starting int tends to make it a better buffer then a CC or damage speller, and the heavy item dependence is unrealistic for someone who hasn't played the game enough to get 32 pt builds, let alone so many +6 items. If your going for more of a CCer then you should start with a 16 int and maybe consider a spell focus feat.

as a 13wiz/1ftr, i'd go something like:
str 14 dex 14 con 16 int 16 wis 6 cha 6
feats: 1 mith plating, 3 mental toughness, 6 imp. mental toughness, 9 spell focus: enchantment, 12 weapon focus: slash , ftr1 prof: kopesh, wiz1 extend, wiz5 empower, wiz10 highten

12sor/2pal- this has some pluses and minuses compared to the earlier build. The sor levels give more sp, and if your main dmg comes from meleeing then you don't need offensive spells, so the restriceted casting isn't that bad. The paladin levels give alot more saves, a decent loh, and as a WF you can take the lord of blades enhancements for better greatsword abilities, so higher attack bonuses. However, this combo has fewer feats from the lack of wiz/ftr bonus feats, can't cast level 7 spells, and the -2 cha gives you a marginal DC difference.

as a 12 sor/2pal, i'd go for something like:
str 16 dex 12 con 14 int 8 wis 6 cha 14
feats: 1 mith plating, 3 extend, 6 mental touchness, 9 imp mental toughness ,12 power attack

the builds are only the impressions off the top of my head, im sure you could improve them somewhere.
