Hey all; easy question for those of you more savvy with this game.

Do the two handed weapon feats work with quarterstaffs?

The line runs Two handed fighting

Improved two handed

and greater two handed fighting.

Thanks

I believe so, since quarterstaves are implemented as two-handed weapons and not double weapons.

I actually heard that they do not for some reason (two handed feats with quarterstaff). I didn't read it on the forums someone else told me they read it on the forums.

And greatclubs attack 10% slower than quarterstaffs.

I have all the nifty quarterstaffs. Some time ago i made a faux monk when they pushed back monks yet again. So i made a quarterstaff specialists. I totally hosed all the feats though and so was going to respec them and take the two handed feats.

If you look on the item description of any quarterstaff it is considered by the game to be a two handed weapon.

I would hate to waste all the money and shards and it have no effect on the weapons =) but ill bite the bullet do it and report back to let you guys know.

If anyone has already tried this then please let me know soon so i don't find myself on the corner holding a sign that reads "will tumble for shards"

Two handed fighting feats do work on quarterstaves. I have it on my fighter, and he gets the extra glancing blows, along with the other bonuses.

THF feats do work. The only difference is that Quarterstaves get their automatic glancing blow on 3rd attack (BAB+5) instead of 1st attack as for all other 2H weapons. And, GrTHF gives glancing blow on 4th attack (BAB+10) for all 2H weapons.

Awesome guys thank you for the information!

THF feats do NOT work on quaterstaves. This was posted by a dev a while ago. You automatically get glancing blows on some staff swings, regardless of the fact that you have THF feats.

Thats too bad because the quarterstaff attack chain animations are sweet..and now this guy has less incentive to build something original.

But, the fact of the matter is that you DO get glancing blows with quarterstaves on 4th attack with GrTHF. So, unless staves grant this on their own with no feats, THF is working.

Update: Just tested in game.
Quarterstaff with no feats = glancing blows on 3rd attack, no glancing blows while moving.
Quarterstaff with GrTHF = glancing blows on 3rd and 4th attack and glancing blows on 1st attack while moving.
Conclusion: THF may or may not increase the to-hit/damage on Glancing Blows for staves, but it absolutely does grant extra glancing blows.

Interesting. After some digging up now I remember that Shade had also made the same experiment. Too bad DeadlyGazebo does not seem to be around anymore to shed some light on the subject. Guess I'm going to bug Codog in his thread ;)

I'm actually considering carrying a qstaff around for just this reason. The ability to attack foes w/o glancing blows (and not break CC) seems like a very nice thing to have.

But, remember you will get glancing blows on the 3rd attack. So, move around to reset your attack chain, or give up on staves after BAB+5.
