not sure if this has been suggested yet, but i remember suggesting this with the xp penalty thread.

Put a freaking timer on the touch of D.. (Sp?). Let it run itself out, so people arent screwed out of looting chests if theyre helpess and not completely worthless the rest of the quest.

I'm sorry the "don't die" response is mad dm BS.

I see adding a timer as the perfect compromise.

It would be preferable if the destruction of the abbot automatically dispelled the touch. I'd rather not wait around for 20 minutes waiting for it to wear off....

Can't argue too much with that...lol.

I was thinking a 5 min affect, kinda got the idea from dying in FFXI, ur weaked for a short amount of time after any death.

could add a disppeling wind that abbott realises on death that erases the stat dmg.

5 minutes isn't long enough to accomplish what the devs intended, it is meant to be permanent until the raid is over....

i would support a dispel after the kill, for looting purposes.

ok so make it like 10 min timer, 20 is too long, permament is unfair, i'm not getting into y i believe it is. Infact not saying more on that or touching that subject with a 10 foot pole after this.

Personally this timer type touch was suggested by me and a few others as to be a result after every death anywhere in game.

I actually suggested in a thread after Eladrin said that kmaybe a puzzle could dispel it.

I'd say like 3-4 minutes.

You'e stayed alive for 3-4 minutes with 70 less HP, -5 to all saves (-10 if you're a paladin) and -5 AC. I'd say that's enough.

How about a change that allows you to loot while helpless? I don't mind sitting back and letting everyone else do the work, but not being able to loot a chest would break my heart.

I agree, looting should absolutely not be prevented. I'll look into the various possible solutions.

Have not finished the quest yet, but how about after the quest is completed have a special Rest shrine spawn that can remove the effect?

What I don't get is why just make death bad in this one single quest? Why not make death (gasp) bad for all quests? Then the solution would actually have to make sense, rather than be a piece of ****, like the current one we have.

In other words, you didn't really consider it before the change?

What about, once the quest completes, the Touch is removed? There for, the person(s) effected by it are restored to normal.

Already suggested a -1 cumulative penalty in all quests instead of this. Heck, they could even make the Abbot quest double the penalty due to the negative energy inherent in the Abbot's raid.

I would be surprised if we hear much back after comments like this.

Quit stealing my ideas, Dane.

Whatever the comment was, Dane might be right. Ya know, Eladrin has been extremely gracious to spend his free time communicating here with us. He doesn't have to do that, he's a "developer," not a communications specialist.

Would be interesting to have it slowly go away instead of it being all or nothing.

10 minutes of -10
8 minutes of -8
6 minutes of -6
4 minutes of -4
2 minutes of -2

That way it's a 30 minute penalty, but it's only extremely harsh for the first 18 minutes or so.

An instant dispel upon death of the Abbot makes sense, or just have a shrine that appears afterwards where people can have it go away.

Maybe just spawn a rest shrine at the end of quest, and make sure that shrining/rest removes the effect.
