View Full Version : Log in and RR items not equipped

I thought one of the changes to Mod 5 was the ability to log on and find our RR items still on.

I have a RR helm and when I log on my toon is "wearing" the item but on the inventory panel it is not in place and the benefits of the item are not evident. Not the end of the world but it requires rebuffing, etc., and equipping the item.

Anyone else find this either working or not working? I find it odd that my toon is pictured wearing the item.

I do believe you've always lost UMDable items that required buffs to equip. Make sure you log out with buffs/items needed for UMD to keep your items equipped and you should load back in with everything equipped.

There was a different problem where players were unequipping gear due to login times and item loading order. Eg., Player base CHA and UMD too low, so unequips rr: items. Then items load; Cartouche, CHA cloak, and Rabbit Gloves/Luckstone load and your UMD is enough to equip the item. You were wearing the items the whole time, so it should not have been a problem, but due to loading order, was.

I found this happened when you don't have enough "Natural" UMD to use the item, such as you needed to have heroism cast on you, then equipped the item. I've only encountered this happening when my UMD score was not higher than the Difficulty of the item, without Buffs.

It's not like either of these circumstances. I have a RR helm that has a diff of 20 to use. I naturally unbuffed have 22.5 UMD and when I log or relog the helm is off BUT it still appears as being worn by my toon. Hmmm, don't know.

That used to happen to my paladin, i think it was when he only had enough UMD to equip something if an item gave him +Cha.

Maybe it's loading CHA and skill ranks seperately? I dunno. I see myself naked in the bar with half-empty hotbars (spells are there, items are not) for 5-10 seconds when I log in.

In any case, Bug report (http://forums.ddo.com/new_bug.php?) it!

This post just reminded me that my Paladin has a helm which he can equip but has a UMD check. Everytime I log in I still have to equip it. I have to remember to bug this the next time I log him in, as this still seems to be broken.

The key here is that for these purposes, "unbuffed" means no Charisma-boosting items, not just temporary effects.

With 22.5 UMD I'm guessing this is your sorcerer, with 8.5 ranks, 32 Charisma and skill focus. The MOD 5 fix was only with regards to the skill focus feat's bonus, so I'd wager that your UMD without your Charisma item is just under 20, i.e. a 19.5 assuming that 3 points of Cha bonus are derived from a +5/+6 Cha item. Once you get either one more half-rank, or another point of truly unbuffed charisma bonus, this should disappear. I used to see this all the time on my rogue, who needed the skill focus to get over 20 unbuffed, but since MOD 5 there have been no such problems (as his ranks+base cha+skill focus is over 20).

Its not just a matter of buffs not equiping or stat items not being added in.

14 UMD ranks + 1 (12 Charisma natural) +3 (Skill Focus: UMD) = 18. So why are my rogues DC18 dorf-required ring and bracers STILL being unequiped every time she logs in?

Me thinks the devs screwed up yet again and didn't actually FIX the problem the first time. More like they slipped something into the notes about fixing it, then just hoped the players would assume it was something else.
