As I was walking through the parking lot, today, I noticed that one of my co-workers, one I have been having issues with, had placed a bumpersticker on his car...

Which basically said:
I Spit on Your Dead Friends' Graves and Their Grieving Families and Hope All Remaining Friends Find Themselves Ill Prepared to Defend Themselves

Ok, people say I am too sensitive, but since the dude has been attacking me personally, publicly and everything I stand for and believe in for months...it hit me.

What it really said was:
Stop X

X, man I have fond memories of X...

X was a place I went to train how to defend myself, my ship, and my co-workers from the c heads that try to attack a US Navy Warship.
X was a place I found a wealth of knowledge on how to prevent the unnecessary escallation of aggression and convince those who might later decide to kill me to move along peacefully, go away and attack some easier target.
X was a place to gain confidence, gain skills and practice defense...not how to kill.

I took a couple of mandatory classes at X. They were fun and useful.

While I was at X, they received and passed on news of an attack on members of X.
How, while working as security for X, one of my instructors, a man I trusted, a man I admired, had ben brutally killed, dismemebered and his pieces carried through town as trophies...

These were not military. Not the man form X. Not his attackers.
Now there are some people running around calling out X.
Saying they are the reason.
Saying they are the problem..
It hurts.

With all the other well published conspiracy theories out there you would think that maybe it is not X that is the problem, but the many, many people who hire them...and what they hire them for...

Are we all not a little mercenary?
Would we all not rather work for pay?
If there was a situation we thought we could make better with a little effort would we not try?

The people who trained me did not seem like cold blooded killers.
They seemed like rational people who had been in bad situations who wanted us to avoid those situations and be prepared if we could not prevent it.

How many of us have trained with X?

Me...I would rather be whacking tangos...then spreading anger in ignorance.

That bumper sticker has got to be one of the worst things I have ever heard of, topped only by a protest I saw on the news where a group of people were protesting the war at the funeral of fallen soldier.

While I have no desire to be in the military there are very few things I respect more then someone who is.

I can probably discribe this person you are having issues with.

Is he a collage educated upper-middle class to wealthy male professional, probably white but race seems to have no bounds for ignorance.
Who has never had to wonder where his next meal will come from, has never served in the military, and has never been in a situation where his life was at risk. Probably has never even held, let alone shot, a firearm.

In other words not really worth your aggrivation, but I know how you feel.

It is ironic that he is using his freedom to express how he holds in disdain those very people who fought and died (and those who still stand on guard) to acheive and maintain those very freedoms.

Whether someone agrees with government or foreign policy or not, only a moron would not understand the sacrifices that our service personell have given in the past, and still give today, to guarantee our freedom and way of life.

God bless our service personell. Past and present.

I am military, work on a military base, he is military.

His sticker referred to X which trains military and law enforcement professionals regarding rules of engagement, escallation of force, crowd control, self defense.

The man who died was a civilian. A specialist in his field.

X hires retired law enforcement, retired military, and people who used to work for federal agencies to provide knowledge and experience to those still working in the field. Most of them have 20 plus years in the field. They also provide security consultation. And security escourts.

A while back, the navy was paying for us to go to X's classes because they were the best training available. The classes help keep us out of trouble (while carrying firearms), show us methods other than deadly force to handle difficult situations...Keep us alive, keep them alive...everyone lives. Unless it is unavoidable.

People my mom works with have seen the X bumper sticker on her car and have related stories of their experiences with the people from X.
My mom works for her local sherriffs department. Opposite coast as X.

I wonder, when he is driving down the street in his smug mobile...if he worries wether that black and white behind him carries a former student of theirs...

Sorry...I am bashing a military member...but since he is a co worker...and I am military...welll.....sorry.

I'm a bit confused. You seem to be talking about a certain private corporation that has been making a lot of headlines lately due to a foreign country's interpretation of actions made in said country, correct?

If so, I don't see that as an attack on the military, or a dishonor to those who have died in indirect service to our country. I can see why you might interpret it as such, but I doubt that's the overall point the guy is trying to make.

But I'm not absolutely certain I know what you're getting at. I might be coming down with whatever the heck Alavatar had. :p

I might be coming down with whatever the heck Alavatar had. :p

I recommend lots of sleep. And vitamins. And fiber. Don't forget sleep! And dark places. :D

I just reread this thread and now I am confused. Who is doing what?

<sigh>
Yes..
The point was I was angry at my co worker...
for intentionally attacking me...
personally..
by piping in on a conversation about a comrade lost to soap box his disdain for govenrment policies...
and make himself seem so important...
while spitting on another who can't defend himself..
His only intention that it would hurt me.

Using a conversation about loss to selfishly forward a political agenda is sick. No matter who does it.

The bumper sticker occured because I shot him down, made him the fool, was angry he was attacking the dead... The man can hit (verbally) but he cannot take a punch (verbally)...Even a slap on the hand (again...verbal) will bring him to tears...

This sticker was his petty, passive aggressive attempt for revenge on me. Seems sad he had to damage his personal property to do it. I guess I should be proud of myself...flattered even...Because I am infuential enough to warrant a bumper sticker...

Dude is constantly attacking me where I live, looking for any way he can slap me cross the face, enter a challenge whatever...
And when I do retaliate, tell him to go away, slap his hand, shut his mouth...he goes crying to mommy (anyone who heard my response to his whispered attack)...and then...does the equivelent of a cat using your shoes as the bathroom. Something secretive... Something nasty... Something only the intended victim will notice.

Meh..I have a problem with the monkey...Have even tried to talk it out... It has been a year since his issues started becoming my problem.
I do not see a way past it. Better just to get over it.

Funny, though... He usually doesnt drive, his bikes it to work.
Haven't seen the car since then.

Sorry...
